American Restaurant Julian's reviews
16Julian's is essentially an overpriced one-trick pony of a restaurant. Note they only serve brunch - standing at the bar you can see the pile of hashbrowns sitting in the kitchen all day - the food is okay but it's fairly expensive for the quality. Julian's has a number of plaques on the wall inside but it sounds like it was a very different restaurant back in the day, with a more interesting menu as opposed to ten variants of eggs benedict. Tough to justify going here with so many great restaurants just a couple blocks over on Atwells. The thing that tips the scales for me about Julian's is that one of the co-owners/managers is petty and unprofessional, and treated a friend of mine poorly (fired him with no explanation or warning). Overall I'd rather take my business to a more professionally-run restaurant with a better menu, and will recommend other places to friends and family when they come to Providence.
I usually hate giving bad reviews to small businesses, but this was one of the weirdest breakfast/brunch experiences I’ve ever had. My girlfriend drove half an hour to try this place, and we’re very excited that there were vegan options for us to indulge in.
We walk in, and the host told us it would be a five minute wait or so. Not a big deal at all, I’d even wait longer for some great food. We are then told that we have to wait outside in the freezing cold (it’s late December and 25 degrees out), because it’s “company policy. ”
Right off the bat, very off putting and the host was not the best with customer service as a whole. We sit down, very excited to eat after being extremely cold for almost 10 minutes and our car parked quite a ways away.
We go to order, and I was SHOCKED by how high the prices were for the Benedict’s. Typically, a good Benedict is around $13-17 dollars. Their cheapest one was $20, and the one that I wanted was $24 for a 2 egg Benedict.
We get the water at our table, and the water SMELLED bad. You’d think that a place that charges such a high price for their food would at least invest into decent filtered water, not low quality tap water.
I think that the absolute worst part of the experience was the vibe of this place. Without exaggeration, they were playing horror movie music in this place, and had a very off putting art piece on their back door I was facing that looked demonic, and ruined any chance of a good experience.
Our waiter was okay at first, until the decided to stop checking in on us when we were done eating some pretty sub par food. They instead decided to sit at the bar playing on their phone and another waiter ended up checking us out.
Overall, again, I hate giving bad reviews in general. However, this was just unpleasant in every imaginable way, and I do not recommend anyone to come here.
I loved everything about this place. Excellent, quirky food. Fun, down to earth staff, and so many good beers and drinks. Had two of their bloody Marys and the hash of the day before heading back to NH on the Amtrak
My husband and I ate breakfast here while visiting Providence and staying in Federal Hill. Hands down one of the best dining experiences we had while in town. They have an extensive menu with lots of options, even for someone with dietary restrictions like me. I built my own omelet, which was huge and delicious. I’m usually not a huge potato person, but the home fries were covered in some sort of amazing flavorful sauce. They also had gluten free waffles and toast - which is a treat considered many restaurants still don’t accommodate this. We got there early, so were seated right away. The server was super helpful, kind and attentive. Great experience all around. Highly recommend!
Would have never guessed the
food would be so good walking through the door. Down to earth neighborhood establishment with outstanding homemade food and great service. We were there for dinner and the few choices were outstanding and authentic. Can only imagine breakfast and brunch.
5 stars to Viv.
The food is overpriced and so bland, the staff is extremely rude, why does anyone still go here, why is it still in business? GO ELSEWHWERE!
Fantastic vegan food and amazing service! I had the vegan "eggs" Benedict and is was so dang good, and actually only got the half portion and that was a plenty filling breakfast. I'll definitely be returning in the future:)
Stopped by for a Tuesday brunch. Our server, Loren, was fantastic! Great recommendations along with lively insights into the restaurant, his time working in a cheese shop, his thoughts on how to best enjoy Liquid Death and a lot more. The food was great, too. Highly recommended.
A new discovery! Great food.great service. The hash browns is the story here. Gotta try it. Loren our server is one of a kind. He is passionate about the food he serves. Will be back again!
Bloody Mary really was incredible. The shakshuka was seriously good as well. Hearty portion sizes and great ambiance! 10/10. For more great reviews follow my Instagram @ChefJeffHere
Julian's has a very nice selection of vegan options. I had the vegan steak and cheese and it was vey good. Highly recommended.
This is my second visit ever. I really appreciate these guys, they are fantastic people. Their food is outstanding, as if your grandma made it, but she's hip and knows new & old stuff. And their drinks are killer. Try the smoked onion rings- they are incredible.
I got to try the Scrambled Egg Pizza at Julian’s and it was delicious! Which is different than most pizza’s I review. It was scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon on nan bread. As imagined it was very tasty and just goes to show that every pizza has a pizza my heart. It was served with “homies” or home fries which were also delectable. 7.45 out of 10 just because I feel like they could have added some sort of base to make it more pizzaesque and add more flavor.
I'm giving 2 for tree reason
1 - the place is nice
2 - the food is normal
3 - I didn't like how your Waitress serve us she or he Been so Rude with us we are customers
We are there to pay not to get food for free
She or he need to learn how to be nice with customers not rude
I will love to say for the first time im so upset
First and last time
I hope u do something about it
Not much love
Our waiter must’ve been very distracted because he kept forgetting the silverware, drinks and then offering additional sauces but never delivering. It was very difficult to flag someone down to service our table. Plus our non alcoholic drinks turned out to be alcoholic.
Oreo Fritters are awesome. Check online menu for daily specials. They have print menus available if you ask. Eat outside, indoor music to loud. Also the meals come in 2 size. Make sure you choose the right size or you will have an expensive bill.
