Flying from California specifically for this once in a lifetime opportunity

We are very disappointed that many of the properties are closed upon our arrival unbeknownst to us because the website still lets you purchase the trio. Thankfully, we received exceptional customer service from Gracie, who resolved our concerns.

Recommend visiting this places if you like to see how the rich people lived back in the day.
If you are a history addict you will see all this mansions very interesting, but if you are normal nothing will impress you, or at least nothing impressed me.

DO NOT VISIT ANY OF THESE MANSIONS.

I’m a part of a reciprocity agreement where myself and a guest get in for free since I’m an employee of another museum on the list.

We visited The Elms first and the first staff member we encountered was extremely judgmental and told me my guest wouldn’t get in for free. Another staff member there was more interested in her phone and extremely condescending and downright rude when the person I was with tried to go down the main staircase. There were no signs marking which staircase to go down.

At Marblehouse the staff member scanning tickets at the front was just as condescending and all but scoffed when I presented my staff ID.

If this is how staff is treating someone who works in their industry I don’t even want to imagine how they treat ticket buying visitors. Save yourself the money and the disappointment and stay away. If you have to go, see The Breakers. It was the only mansion with nice, polite staff members and it’s stunning.

A friend took me to Rhode Island on a recent trip and what an excellent time we had. The history behind the mansions was very interesting. Imagining the parties and times there and then being thankful to those that have preserved these stately homes. Loved the three house entrance which we did over 3 days.

As a former resident and semi celebrity, I have always loved the historic value of this unique city. With well over 350 years of exciting, original, and truth be told years of this nations birth right there for the taking and viewing. Did you know that Benedict Arnold is buried on a small side street or that the entire crew of a U-boat sunk just off the shoreline are also interred here? A bit pricey, but lots of free things to do as well. My faves; Oceancliff for the patio, Castle Hill for the lawn views and beaches, The Redwood library, twin lobster rolls at Eastons Beach and the carousel, all the clean parks, polo matches, the Tennis HoF, sailing is a must as are the festivals and of course my old haunt, The Clarke Cooke House and its five levels of entertaining cocktails and music, but bring your checkbook kids! Lol. Cheers Newport!

These Mansions were so darn cool! Stunning views, gorgeous weather, and an opulence and intricacy in each that was truly staggering. Really enjoyed seeing 3 mansions in the one day we were here, because comparing the different styles and personalities was extremely fascinating. Great gift shop with tons of unique pieces as well!

I highly recommend buying ticket to tour three mansions. My recommendation of the mansions to tour are The Breakers, The Elms and Marble House. It is worth spending $46 to review the three mansions.

Audio tours are great so please download the app before visiting the mansions. Also there is a paper copy that you can pick up at the entrance which closely replicated audio tour. Audio tour has a lot more features and it is free.

It tooke us 3-4 hours / mansion as we wanted to learn details so please allocate time accordingly.

These mansions really are quite breathtaking. The amount of intricate detail in their design are really quite fascinating. Pictures really don't do it Justice, it's one of those you have to see things. While they don't provide audio devices, you can simply scan the provided barcode before entering the mansion on your phone and be able to walk through each room at your own pace and learn a great deal about how they used to live in those times. To me this is even easier. I do feel like you're missing out on the experience if you don't listen. Overall fun experience. Go ahead and feel like royalty even if for just an hour

Bad experience every time. The staff is literally as rude as can be, there are 2 times out of the 20+ times i have been to the mansions i have encountered kind staff. They are ageist, they look you up and down and if you're not above the age of 35 you have absolutely no respect. I happen to be a student who enjoys the mansions and every single time i go if i'm not given a hard time at the door about why i have a membership and if it's my parents and not mine, i am followed throughout the entire exhibit and can not even enjoy it.i don't know if they think a teen can not enjoy the mansions without causing trouble? I don't know why every single time i go i do not get an ounce of respect when i have a 200$ membership.no matter the mansion, no matter the staff they're always rude and ageist, and extremely judgmental.get kinder staff that treat everyone with respect no matter their age or what they look like. I will be canceling my membership.after the 10th time i have had this experience and realized it is not a coincidence.

Yes see this! NMPS is a "must see" NewPort attraction. The Gilded Age mansions are fascinating and beautifully preserved time capsules of a very different time in US history. Put on your walking shoes and see as many homes as you can. But be warned they are not always open. And some only open over certain dates. So plan ahead. Inquire if you have any mobility issues. WORTH EVERY PENNY.

This is an amazing experience that you really have to have. I've traveled extensively in Europe and some of these houses rival those. Easy parking and access, the guides and ticket takers are very nice, and the houses don't disappoint. Only downside is you'll go back home and realize you live in a hovel. Wealth aside, what is really amazing about these houses is the craftsmanship what went into every detail: the ceiling mouldings, the stairs, the fireplace mantels, etc. One suggestion: Get a membership instead of just buying tickets; it's the same price as the "trio" tour of three homes, and can be used for a year as many times as you'd like.

We visited Marble House. I would give this place 5 stars for the house and the grounds which were absolutely stunning - but for the racial profiling that my family and I were subjected to while visiting Marble House. Staff following us around telling us not to take photos on the steps (when we were not taking photos), demanding that we walk up the stairs quickly, when other people were left to take their time). We had a teenager with us as well whom the staff literally followed around the house and were talking about on their walkie-talkies. Utterly embarrassing. What should have been a great, educational experience was ruined. I will demand a refund as I don't see the logic behind paying for racial profiling and discriminatory treatment.
