I am giving this place a one-star simply because I have to rate in order to leave a comment. Here's the review: My Fiancé and I went to check in and immediately felt awkwardly stared at. We asked for a table for 2 at 9: 00 PM.when the door sign and online said closed at 11. The hostess said yes, looked at a male worker who was staring at us up and down, then came back apologizing that that they seated Their last table for the evening. Obviously the male signaled no. I'm white and he is black.only thing I can think of.feel so discriminated.so sad.

Went on for apps during lunch. I had calamari and a stuffed quahog. The calamari was very good and the stuffed quahog filled me. I liked the atmosphere as well. Good place to have a quick drink if you're hanging out.

Sat at the bar and waited over 45 minutes for a lobster roll. It’s as if because I did not want any drinks I was not being provided timely service. Lobster roll was meh. I asked for extra mayo on the roll and was given a side of mayonnaise instead, and for $30 I expected much better. Would not recommend.

I am appauled at the treatment from the host/manager. I had just arrived in Providence from a 4 hr drive from New York City. I was dressed in an 1890s suit with top hat, pocket watches, etc. My date was also dressed in elegant vintage.
We made reservations and walked in 5 minutes early. The manager asked me "How many drinks I have had? " I responded, none, and that I had just drove up from NYC. I have not had a drink since 2 nights before. I WAS COMPLETELY SOBER!
I am a very generous tipper (30-40%)
I will never go there again and I will make it a point to tell everyone I know in Providence not to go there.
I am offended to the bone.

Fresh seafood with a blast from the past 90's decor. We stopped by on a afternoon stroll past prime lunchtime for a snack. We had fresh oysters, vegan sushi roll and shrimp tempura tacos. The service was slow.maybe because it was just after the lunch rush. The seafood was fresh and overall I would say it was good but not amazing. The decor and ambiance was that of a hip 90's restaurant that could use an upgrade in the 2020's.

Great food, wonderful atmosphere! Our waitress was fabulous, I can't remember her name, but young and cute and very knowledgeable about everything on the menu. When I remember her name, I will definitely acknowledge her!

This had to be the worst experience we ever had in Providence dining! We have gone to several upscale restaurants in Providence during Covid and have had the best experiences & the most amazing food ever! We honestly feel like we were literally robbed! We ordered what they called "Alaskan King crab" leg for $45 for a half a pound! What we were served was a major disappointment. We got the bottom part of some sort of crab that was completely knuckle and claw, and they were very tiny pieces of crab inside that we had to use tiny forks for. The only thing that weighed a half a pound was the shell! As far as the rest of the meal, we ordered some seafood stew that was all miniature so we really did not need a real fork the entire meal, we had to use the tiny forks to eat everything. They said on the menu that they were clams in the stew, but in reality those were little necks! The manager came over And we expressed our disappointment however we were charged full price for the miniature meal that we were served! The quality of food at this place used to actually be good, But you should never serve a customer something other than what you have explained on the menu and charge as much as they do! Do not dare go to this place or you will feel like you just burned $150! We were still starving when we left too. Had 2 disgusting apps that were just terrible!

Food was excellent. Service was amazing. Oysters were great; they had many kinds for you to choose from. Swordfish was served with lobster mashed potatoes that had substantial chunks of lobster in it. Everything was perfect. Pricey, but worth the money.

Got a lobster roll asked for it cold with out butter got it was warm with butter and like one bite. Fish and chips was put on top of french fries they were so greesy you could ring them out. The portion size is for a toddler and the money they charge is ridiculous go down to narragansett and never pay that price I will never return here again. Not worth the money spent

Highly recommend. Swordfish tacos were delicious! I was a little hesitant trying something new, and they did not disappoint. I also tried the clams, also good, they taste pretty similar to oysters (I’m not a big connoisseur of raw fish, but I try new things on occasion). Service was great too. Would recommend a reservation, we got lucky and didn’t have to wait, but chances are that probably isn’t always the case.

Cozy setting, great food, very polite and attentive staff. It's an oyster bar so, of course, you've got to have the sampling of oysters from all over New England. But their entrees are equally varied and delicious, from burgers to seafood to Italian dishes. An Atwells Avenue (Federal Hill) icon.

I ordered the shrimp & grits from the brunch menu and upon trying it, I was surprised it was not good. The sausage seemed undercooked, the grits had an odd texture and the dish overall was not the flavor explosion I was expecting. I had the food put in a to-go container since I had to leave abruptly from my dining experience and finally tried it at home so I did not had a chance to voice my concerns to the manager. So disappointing.

They're doing it just right here. Great options for all shellfish served as expected. Great service, great atmosphere. You can throw a dart and not find a bad restaurant in this area, but this one is very very good.

The food was delicious - loved the oysters, wasabi calamari, and linguine with clam sauce! Staff was also super friendly and attentive! Definitely make a reservation ahead of time. And I highly recommend checking out their oyster appy hour.

The best oyster bar hands down. We only drive to providence to eat there
Food is amazing and fresh, drinks are really good (get a margarita, thank me later), and service is fast

We had for appetizers, oysters from 5 different places.clam chowder, surf and turf sushi (filet mignon avocado tuna and fried) the best sushi ever!

Followed by a real good? Roll with brioche and buttered, superb, swordfish pan seared and the best side dish of the evening (mashed potatoes with lobster chunks), shrimp tacos and all comes with homemade crispy

I visited Providence on a three day business trip. On a suggestion from the hotel concerige we went to the Oyster Bar. The food was very fresh and seasoned perfectly. The cocktails were made very well. We enjoyed experience so much that we went back to the restaurant the next day for lunch.

My husband and I took a day trip to Providence, RI and were thrilled to have dinner at the Providence Oyster Bar. The service was incredible- our waiter, Jordan, went out of his way to make our first experience at the Oyster Bar an incredible one. The food was excellent! I can’t wait to take another trip to Providence and come here again!

We came here for our anniversary dinner after making a reservation and upon arrival we were seated right away. It's a romantic looking quaint spot in Federal Hill. Kylie was our server and provided exceptional attentive service with making great suggestions for oysters, apps & dinner choices. Our oysters, lobster bisque, Cioppino and Cajun Shrimp Pasta were all so delicious! We were very pleased with our food but were disappointed in the quality and taste of our cocktails. We tried the Fig Noonan and Margarita Negra (tasted like Mezcal & coke) which weren't as pleasing as the ingredient description. We ended up sending the drinks back and I tried the Fall Spiced Sangria which lacked the hand crafted cocktail feel. We would definitely come back for food but maybe next time avoid the cocktails menu and try something from the wine menu instead.
