Red Roof Inn & Suites Newport – Middletown, RI

Update.not sure what goes on in the lobby around 3 am, maybe shift change, but every night we were awakened by employees talking very loudly. Please please be more considerate!

First time staying over with a dog. Room was large and clean. Felt very welcome with our four legged friend!

Booked this motel based on online review and location (close to attractions) despite its exterior appearance (took a chance). That was not a good decision. The main entrance of the hotel has a strong urine smell. The walls and balcony windows do not insulate the room, we feel like sleeping on the street with loud traffic noise (our room facing the street, bad choice again). We were woken up at midnight and could hear the talking from neighboring room. And the balcony sliding door does not lock.the lock does not work. So people could technically sneak in at night when you sleep. And the fridge in the room has a vibration problem and produce a loud noise. I had to turn it off. I’ve never seen a hotel like this.

My room was clean. Staff was very helpful and courteous. The continental breakfast was a nice touch. The pool was clean. My wife and I will definitely come back

VERY clean and it looks like it was recently upgraded with new furniture! House keeping comes a little early, so remember your "privacy please" tag if you like to have slow mornings like me!

Surprising excellent - but you can't let the external appearances deceive you. Because from the street, this looks like a former small, economy motel/hotel. And its certainly an older building - which the (presumably) new owners have very thoroughly updated. In fact, I believe all the rooms were just this spring/summer MODERNIZED, and on two stays (in different rooms), we've found brand new beds, mattresses, furniture, TVs, hallway carpeting, wallpaper and paint, throughout. The bathrooms aren't as modern, but they are all clean and spotless - in fact, the housekeeping is meticulous and immaculate. Daily housekeeping is provided. NOTE: There is no elevator, so if you have problems walking, are handicapped, etc, you need to request a room on the first floor - there is no option other than staircases for accessing the 2nd floor. Compared to VERY OVERPRICED Hilton properties, the Red Roof Inn & Suites is an option SMART travelers should consider instead!

The experience that I had at this place was subpar to say the very least. After staying there the first night, I woke up to bites all over my legs. When I realized the next day, I returned back to the room to check for bed bugs. However, the power was out at the hotel. The rooms were hot and dark. I found bed bugs, and reported it to the front desk. They gave me a new room, and I had to move all my stuff. Given that I was only here for two nights, this occupied a lot of my day for my short trip. The staff had promised a significant compensation for the power outage, and I had agreed on a refund with them for the bed bugs. After all this, my bank was charged in full for my stay. I called Red Roof Inn, and they told me that they couldn't compensate me for the power outage since it was not their fault. They also told me that they found no evidence of bed bugs so I would not be getting my refund. Luckily, I had taken pictures of everything. I sent a long, frustrated email to the manager with photo evidence, also explaining my irritation. All they sent in response was a receipt, telling me that they had refunded me for one night. Please, avoid this hotel by any means. The staff were rude and unhelpful, and I feel that this was not a fair compensation for the headache that was caused for what was supposed to be a short, fun getaway trip.

Poor cleanliness. Found a muffin behind a desk and other uncleaned areas. Rooms were also underwhelming.

It is a perfect motel on the route. The rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable (we stayed in a superior king). Ours had a balcony that overlooked the rear garden.
It was a great, well-priced option for visiting Newport without staying in the downtown hotels that were beyond our budget. You need a car to go but it takes 10 minutes.

Writing this review to hopefully help someone who finds themselves reading these reviews before staying here! I was originally a bit skeptical after reading other reviews about this location but was pleasantly surprised with the room and beyond impressed with the service.

The hotel seems like it’s in the midst of a renovation, and our room had some recent upgrades to it including the floors, bathroom vanity, and bedding. Our room and bedding was also very clean.

But what really impressed me the most was the service. Not only was the person at the front desk very kind, but when I realized I had left an expensive face wash in our room a day after we left, he personally made sure it was found and left it for me at the front desk.

So, if you’re looking for an affordable place to stay while in Newport rest assured the Red Roof Inn in Middleton is a safe, clean, and friendly place to rest your head:)

Floor and remote had some sticky stuff like jelly on it, the comforter had black marker on it making me believe they dont clean well.paper thin walls, Could hear someone snoring next to me all night. The bathroom door literally hits the toilet so it's hard to have more than one person in there. Definitely not worth 370$ for a night.

Really bad, there was blood, strong smell of cigs, toilet was still plugged, rude staff, told them i wanted a change of rooms, they agreed but never gave me another room, terrible service, the lady in the front desk, was extremely rude, told me that i should fix it myself.

Room was quite Inviting, Clean and Comfortable! We were able to experience such a Beautiful Sunrise, from the balcony of our room, on the second floor!
This Hotel is in such a Convenient location, with a grocery store directly across the street, coffee shops and shopping centers all w/in walking distance. About a 15-minute drive, to Downtown Newport!
Would definitely recommend The Red Roof Inn & Suites, to Anyone!

It's a Red Roof Inn and we're familiar with them. The rooms were nicer than the ones we have used before. They're pet friendly which is also a plus. Unfortunately, the bed in our room had bed bugs and it was late, so we just stayed there and left our stuff in the car.
