This has always been one of my favorite hotels! It has such a beautiful interior decor and I love the stairs to the bar restaurant area! This has great views of the Capital building which they light up beautifully each season and holiday and it is a nice walking city.

One of the nicest hotels in Providence (well, only stayed in this one, but seems the nicest from what I can see of the others).

Located walking distance of downtown Providence and the mall, the Renaissance is located just north of downtown next to the state house. Parking is decently expensive (valet primarily) so plan for that if you're driving a car. However, valets were always quick and efficient so that's a plus.

The hotel doesn't have much a lobby and seating area, but does look historic (and well updated). Also, means there's a bunch of walls instead of a wide open space. Check-in was efficient, staff was friendly, and elevators get you to your quickly enough (no one likes slow or broken elevators).

Rooms themselves are decent sized, bed is very comfortable and luxurious. Unfortunately the views aren't always great (small windows). Bathroom is adequate size, and wifi didn't have any issues. Recommended stay.

My friends and I stayed here after a wedding, the girls at the front desk were so friendly and helpful! Our room was SPOTLESS and the view was spectacular! We’ll definitely be staying here in the near future!

Very elegant reimagination of the Masonic Temple builfing. Close enough yet sorta far away from the downcity hubub. Nice job, Marriott.

Great hotel with an fantastic location next to the state house building. Lobby is chill, rooms are in great condition and the front desk staff are on point. Would stay again when in the area. Bonus we got to see Wu-Tang in the lobby it was great!

The room and staff were fabulous. Be advised that off-site parking ($3 less than valet) is at the mall, down the hill and around the corner from the hotel, so it may be worth it to just pay the extra for valet. Nice views of the Capitol and centrally located.

The positives: the location (close to the train station and downtown providence) and the service.
The negatives: the room are very dark and could benefit from some renovation.

Requested extra pillows thru the app at 8am, never received it when we go back to our room at 10pm and housekeeping never stopped by to freshen the room. Upstairs had kids running up and down the hallways both Friday and Saturday night. They were hosting a cruise pre departure so a ton of boomer vibes this weekend. For the price point, I prefer the Marriott for its pool access, breakfast in the M Lounge, and free parking.

Stayed here for one night, would not come back again. Firstly, poor lighting in the hotel room. Found so many ants in the bathroom and thought it was just a bathroom issue. Wasn’t until the morning where I saw in natural lighting, more ants crawling on the bed. Made me sick and wanted to check out faster… natural lighting also showed how DIRTY the blankets/sheets were… discussed with front desk when checking out, they apologized but that’s it. I would not come back. Building was nice but that’s it.

Worst hotel experience. We paid for a club lounge room only to be told on check in that we had wasted our money and the club lounge was not open and oh well. Very nosey all night and unhelpful on the phone when ringing down about extra pillows and bits. Very overpriced for what you get.

This is my first review on a hotel.

We were given a room on 6th floor, didn't realize/know it's under the gym/fitness room. At 11: 30pm, right after we fall sleep, someone started to run on the treadmill and wake me up.luckily it did not last very long. Then at 6: 30am, someone again started to logging, and doing weight lifting etc.it's so loud and noisy, I can feel the ceiling & building is shaking. Can't get sleep at all! Had to call front desk for help, however they can't do much about it. Very very bad experience.

Really don't understand how the hotel designer is thinking. Put fitness room on 7th floor and expect guests in underneath room to sleep with a smile? You can't do business like this.

I hate writing bad reviews, but this needs to be written.

I am a loyal Marriott Rewards member, and I appreciate the Marriott quality. I found my first exception to Marriott standards. I am staying at the Renaissance Downtown Providence RI. We checked in two nights ago. The first night and morning, there was no hot water, and we had to take cold showers. Today we returned to our room about 8: 30, the door did not work. An engineer had to be called to fix the door. 30 minutes later we finally get in our room only to find the room has not been serviced. We complain. Its now our bedtime and no one has serviced our room. I would leave this hotel now if I had alternative. Do not stay here. It an expensive hotel, and certainly not worth the money.

Goodness. What to say.always a lovely stay here.

We've stayed with Renaissance at several different properties re: Marriott, and we've always received top-notch service. This Renaissance is no different. Perfect for out-of-town guests and locals alike. Great location downtown, yet away from the hustle and bustle - right next to the State House and the VETS Auditorium, near the Financial District & Providence Place Mall.

Upon arrival, you're met with experienced valet service and whisked inside to reception. Hotel staff is attentive, sharp to detail, thorough, and above all, warm - great pillars of hospitality.

We've been fortunate enough to be placed on the Concierge level with our stays due to our Bonvoy status, which is a nice touch. The lobby smells fantastic, cleanly aromatic, as does the rest of the hotel. Just kind of carries through.

There's also beautiful architecture at this location, and nothing & nobody is pretentious - it's just an obvious high standard of excellence that filters through every aspect of your stay here. Highly recommend if ever you travel in/around Providence.

Absolutely best location in Providence - The State Capitol building is right next to it. Beautiful center of the city, everything is close - in a 5-15 min walking distance.
You can park in the garage that is down the street (2 min walk). Rates - $20 overnight, $2 for 1-5 hours.

The hotel offers a valet parking for about $30 over night.

There is a huge mall and a movie theater in a 2 minute walking distance. Nice Cheesecake Factory restaurant is next to the Mall. Two more minutes - CVS, more cafes and restaurants.
15-20 minutes of walking away from the hotel, while looking at the beautiful center of the city and you come to a very nice art museum. Highly recommend to explore Providence.

The hotel suppose to be a 4 star hotel. It is not. The great location is its best feature, do not expect much more.

My main issue with it was an AWFUL lighting in the room and bathroom. It was very dark and not enought light. The lights they had were all in wrong spots. Who ever designed the lighting and the whole room didn't do the best job - this was the most uncomfortable set up I've ever had in hotels. Very small counter space and no shelf space in the bathroom. Very weak shower. Very uncomfortable beds - you keep sinking in it and pillows, impossible to find a comfortable position. Also, when we arrived, we were not offered at least a choice of having a room with the view - we got windows facing to the garage.

I wouldn't focus on such things that much, if they didnt positioned themselves as a 4 star hotel. 3 stars is more correct.
Would I stay there again? Not sure, but probably not.

I was not the guest, however, I hosted a guest Minister for the weekend, and the Renaissance was highly recommended. I was given a superb rate for my guest and lodged them there. I did, however, observe the room, service, the flow, security measures.etc.and I can wholeheartedly say that I would personally stay at the Renaissance Providence Marriott Hotel. I love the place. Actually, I am going to have to experience this location for myself, based upon my coming in contact with this location.

Great stay, awesome upscale hotel. Right next to a huge mall, and plenty of restaurants near by. We only stayed one night but all was great. Oh, no microwave in rooms. Small fridge and coffee maker yes. If you want to save a little time and a few bucks you can park in the malls parking garage all night ($24) for 24 hours and it was very well lite and felt safe walking back to hotel at night (5 minutes).

Nice place. <5 minute walk to Amtrak station. Club lounge open spring/summer 22' for fairly limited, unexciting breakfast and small daytime spread of sodas & snacks (chips/pretzels kinda thing) that was appreciated just the same. Got stuck with an ADA bathroom they insisted I requested but other than that.
