Living in River House is a dream come true! My studio has amazing views of the city skyline. The location cannot be beat, I can walk everywhere! The furnishings are amazing, I love doing laundry right in my room, and the dishwasher is a major bonus! The staff is amazing, they are always available, accommodating, and friendly! They organize excellent events like movie nights and cookie bars. I would highly recommend living here.

River house is an amazing place to live truly. They have everything you need from a wonderful apartment with all the amenities and in-unit laundry as well as a complete gym with nice machines and fun things to do in the lobby including a pool table, games, puzzles. There are great places to study, and I find I do my best work in river house. There is also always tea and coffee on hand in the lobby. The staff is always super nice and welcoming. Lastly, I love the events that they host throughout the month that are often delicious food and treats that go along with the month or holiday. River house is a warm and inviting place to live, and I would encourage any grad student to live here.

Lived at River House for 1 year, from June 2022 to May 2023. Overall, a good experience but a couple things to keep in mind if you're looking to move in.

Pros:
The best thing about River House is the super friendly management office, they'll often host generous giveaways and events, and have free food/goodie bags in the lobby for all residents to take! Additionally, the security team is highly professional and keep the premises extremely safe—plus the building's entrances and elevators restrict access to residents only. Maintenance staff are very friendly and helpful, and pretty fast to respond to repair requests!

In terms of the units themselves, they have modern appliances with pretty good storage space and high-quality furniture. Additionally, the outdoor patio and barbecue deck are a lovely space to get together with friends. Never had any issues with any bugs, which is a huge thing for me! Additionally, the building is in a fantastic location with multiple eateries within walking distance, it is also right beside the BrownU shuttles and public transport (RIPTA) bus stops. Good affordability for what you get. There's also a couple free parking spots on the streets right next to the building.

Cons:
My biggest issue with living here was the difficulties in regulating the unit's temperature during late summer months. River House turns off the air conditioning for all units on October 1st and only turns it back on in early May (to provide heat according to state law). My unit became unbearably hot in the first few weeks of October and last couple weeks in April. The temperature in my unit peaked at around 90F/32C even with my window and front door ajar, and a full-size fan that was always on. There was nothing that could be done to cool down the apartment, except hope the outside temperature would drop and winds would pick up.

Additionally, there was a period of time in the Fall semester where the fire alarm would go off quite frequently, though it hasn't been an issue in the Spring semester at all. Also, there was a time in the winter when the building lost all hot water for 3-4 days. Lastly, it can get a little loud in the surrounding area at night.

Overall, a convenient, comfortable, safe, and relatively affordable place to live for students!

During my experience in RiverHouse, I would say it was a great choice. Staffs are friendly and helpful. They made several events to feel comfortable.

This apartment is available to Brown Grad students and Medical Students. Overall, it is a good apartment compared to other places.
