This is a historic, cosy Inn with steep stairs (no lift) and creaky floors. It's comfortable, nicely decorated and in a great location, walkable to the commercial waterfront but in a quiet area. There is a receptionist around for check in but the desk isn't staffed 24/7. There's a collection of three buildings and you go down the road for breakfast but it's only 2 buildings away. There's a brilliant cafe on the ground floor of the Inn though. Open all day, serving pastries, salads and sandwiches.

My family of four (two adults, two teens) stayed at The Bellevue House while vacationing in Newport. The rooms are no frills, but they are impeccably clean and comfortable. It's not fancy, but it feels very quaint and lovely as a Victorian-era home. The staff are accommodating and kind, and they were eager to assist and make their guests feel at home.

The space was small but more than sufficient as a place to sleep. The best thing about the facility is that the location is walkable to almost anywhere on the island. We walked to Thames Street several times, walked to Cliff Walk, Tennis Hall of Fame, etc. Considering that parking and navigating the area in a car can be tricky, we were grateful that the Bellevue offered off-street, free parking and we did not need to use our car once during the entire time we were there.

The breakfasts were lovely, too. There were a few hot options (pancakes or French toast, sausage, spinach quiche, etc.) and yogurt, fruit, croissants, breads, muffins, etc.). The breakfast dining area was delightful, with both indoor and outdoor patio spaces.

We were on the third floor of the walk-up house; so there were two long flights of stairs up to our room. If you have impaired mobility or would have trouble with a lot of stairs, it would be worth asking for a downstairs room.

Overall, it was lovely and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Went to a Newport Classical music concert here, the Sinta Quartet. It was a terrific concert and a beautiful venue. The gardens are lovely but perhaps a bit over the top.

Room is on the small side but efficient enough for what we were looking for. Clean snd comfy. Breakfast was perfect (quiche, pancakes, boiled eggs, scones and breads). Staff was helpful and friendly. Location is walking distance to the docks and thames street

We spent President’s Day weekend at Bellevue House. We had a king suite and it was very spacious and modern. The staff was excellent and breakfast was very good. The inn is walking distance to the downtown area, which is a plus. We will be coming back in June!

I hate to write a bad review, but we were very disappointed in our stay. My boyfriend and I stayed for one night this past weekend. We were not in the room often at night while when we came back to the room we noticed a small bug on the pillow. We looked under the mattress and did not see anything, so we assumed it was nothing. When we woke up in the morning, we found several bugs all over the bed and several bites over our bodies. There were bed bugs living in the fabric headboard and all over the lampshade. There were minor issues in the room as well, such as the TV and heat not working while this was nothing in comparison to bed bugs. We got out of the room as fast as possible and missed the breakfast because we just wanted to be out of there. While the front desk staff and manager were apologetic, we're very disappointed with the owners response. We were told we would hear back about a response by end of the day the next day. We did not hear back so I called and was informed no one was there that could answer my questions. I then called back halfway through the next day and was told they could provide $100 refund. I was very disappointed they did not provide a full refund and surprised due to the severity of bed bugs. It was not only distressing while we were there, but we had to go through an ordeal when we got home to not bring anything into the house and wash everything immediately to ensure we didn't bring bed bugs home.

To make it worse, I see from a previous review on Yelp that there were additionally bed bugs in 2018, which makes me doubtful they have good upkeep and makes me more frustrated regarding lack of refund.

Our room had no heat and there was trash still in the room from the last guest. The overnight staff was not able to fix the heat and it was freezing. We had booked 3 rooms so we were forced to double up in their room. The front desk manager never called me back after I asked for a refund for the room with no heat. The owner would only credit $50 when the room was $400.

For what it is, this place was a nice place to stay for nine days while I was in Newport. I was in room 1. There was no microwave. This is a must if you are going to be staying in Newport - there is no fast food and restaurants generally don't stay open late. I could hear what was going on in the next room as well. Though a good white noise app should cover it. Other than that I enjoyed my stay and would recommend.
