This hospital is the worst, the employees have no empathy or consideration for the patients. I have been waiting for 9 hours and I still haven't seen a doctor. This should be closed. It's not fair for someone with pain and no attention.

THIS REVIEW IS ONLY ABOUT THE EMERGENCY ROOM - I have no experience with the hospital itself.

My grandfather got rushed to the ER on Wednesday morning, after getting dizzy and fainting (falling on his face and breaking his nose). He was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia and possibly dysphagia. Food is getting into his lungs and blocking oxygen to his brain. Hence the dizziness and passing out. This can be life threatening if not treated properly.

He was referenced out to a rehab center today after being discharged, and the rehab center declined him- stating that the hospital should have never discharged him yet. Now the hospital doesn't want to re-book his room, and instead want to repeat the entire ER procedure/diagnosis, charging his insurance again. As if he wasn't a patient with a room just a couple of hours prior.

My grandfather doesn't speak English well. He was extremely confused with what the hospital has put him through. Furthermore, his emergency contacts were never properly contacted.

This hospital incorrectly and dangerously discharged an elderly patient (my grandfather). Not only should he not be charged for the (same) procedures twice, since the discharge was incorrect on the hospital's behalf- this hospital put his health- and potentially his life- in danger.

I will be sending in a formal complaint to RIDOH.

If someone could explain to me why my mother came in an ambulance in excruciating pain and had to wait to get into a hospital bed and get medication for 4 hours that would be great.thanks for not doing ur job and making my mother scream and cry and BEG.for help with her rare medical condition. And hours later when she got any sort of “treatment” by a doctor you treated her like trash AFTER ignoring her pleading for help for hours on end. My mother has a very rare stomach condition and had to deal with uncontrollable vomiting and excruciating stomach and chest pain for 6 hours because you people don’t know how to do your job. You then discharged her after doing absolutely nothing to help her because u needed the room open. My mother thought this hospital was the best place for her when having her condition flare up, but now after this experience she is scared to go back when she needs to, and has now has no other options for hospitals in the area. So thanks for sending her home in pain after you should’ve made things better for her. DO. YOUR. JOB.do better.

Poor service! Knee replacement at noon. Wait til 7pm for a room! Then no PT until the morning. None again until very late afternoon. Terrible visiting hours. Rude front desk.

I don’t even know where to start. The lack of empathy must be no 1, I came from Florida literally landed with a 4 month old baby, to see my mom and be with her for a few hours so my sister could go to work, we were told she had just days if lucky maybe weeks, I’m explaining the front desk lady I don’t live here I do not have anyone to care for my baby and I’m just visiting so my son can meet my mother for the first time, they transferred 3 TIMES. From nurse to nurse then to Administration since it was their decision to be told “NO YOU GONNA HAVE TO TALK TO YO SISTA TO SEE IF SHE CAN TAKE CARE OF YOUR BABY”… not even explaining the situation I am, the lady said nop. However employees can walk around with their toddlers and service dogs but exceptions like this can’t be made for a few hours. As I told the lady on the phone I’ll have to go back to Florida since I’m in a very tough spot, imagine having just a baby and being told your mom has days. As I’m waiting in the lobby to leave, I see the level of unprofessionalism from the front desk lady that sits outside from the other ladies, they back and forth arguing in front of people waiting to check in to visit their relatives, while there’s a guy saying they need me asap in a room for translation, lady says to him sorry you can’t go we need to wait for a call. The guy just left, just like I am. Thank you Miriam hospital for being the most inhumane hospital.

Rude nurses and doctors 11-7, judge you, abuse their authority. They are not able to be trusted. Missed a life threatening allergic reaction after going there 4 days in a row via ambulance, and let me go with an IV in my arm. Traumatized me. I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. Rhode island isn't much better. Lifespan really needs an intervention. Both Dr's lacked empathy and so much more!

One of top hospitals in the state from their excellent and well staffed ER where they excel in often he hectic and busy situations to the excellent staff in the floors. This hospital runs like a well oiled machine and highly recommend their services to anyone in need of them, won't be disappointed

Hi! I came in for spinal surgery on the 13th and left the next day. In between I was helped tremendously. From the admitting staff to the technicians to the nurses & doctors, everyone was extremely helpful and considerate. Hopefully I won’t need them soon but I feel much more comfortable knowing the staff is there! I stayed on 3 North and I can’t say enough about them. Thank you all again!

At various times, my wife’s ER and hospital care was excellent,
passing fair, or atrocious: mostly dependent on which doctor or nurse or aide or manager was on duty. Weak communication appears to be a cause of this unevenness. This ER experience was excellent. This hospital discharge experience was horrible overall, as the hospital sought to send my elderly wife home the second day after spine surgery without having had any physical therapy or an effective pain management plan. Due to our strong objections and due to the help of other Hospital staff, she was able to stay two more days, still within the 1-4 day stay that’s average in this era.

The Miriam Hospital is a quality institution that needs a few important fixes.

I was at this hospital on 03/172023, Patrick R McNamara, PA, was very disrespectful. His purpose was to embarrass me, confuse me. He did not want to listen, was rude the entire time, spent a minute with me and walk away like if he was God or something. English is my second language, the nurses and Doctor Sullivan understood me perfectly and were very pleasant, but this guy shouldn’t be a doctor, he shouldn’t work with people. I was in a lot of pain, feeling very vulnerable, and Dr. McNamara unfortunately was there making my time in the hospital even worse.

I had a great experience when I had outpatient surgery at the Fain Building at Miriam Hospital. Everyone from the check-in staff, to the nurses, physician assistants, and doctors were professional, kind, and comforting throughout the entirety of my stay. I would highly recommend this hospital.

I went to Miriam Hospital on March 7 23 to have an operation on my ankle. As an old athlete I have had seven orthopedic operations six of them at Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut. I have also had a valve replacement at New York Presbyterian, yet I’m still a baby when it comes to being cut open. So there I am with my omitting nurse and she tells me that my blood pressure is high and my heart beat is irregular, and she wants to show the anesthesiologist. They were both by my side (and on my side) when they agreed that I couldn’t have the operation. They advised me to go to the emergency room at that moment because I was in a fib. I was horrified. They tried to calm me down by saying that this is a good thing you are here because we will fix all of this and not to be frightened, that I was a very lucky guy. So I took their advice and off to the emergency room my nurse took me. This is where I met the two best cardiologists I have ever met in my life, and I have met quite a few. They were both straightforward about my situation telling me how we can fix this now and into the future.
I can’t thank them enough for their encouragement at that moment. That afternoon I was taken to my room in the cardiology ward. Once there I was amazed by the staff and how well coordinated the ward was. The nurses and their assistants appeared as bright lights in my darkness. I felt fully cared for. Then on Wednesday there was an emergency on the ward and I witnessed an amazing team working in unison, it was awe inspiring. Then I realized that this was the best medical staff I had ever seen.
I would like to thank you Miriam Hospital and I am looking forward to my ankle operation.

By far the worst hospital experience ever…patient rooms are freezing & when you ask the nurse to fix it they say they can’t…very, very low on staff

My mother was in the ER today and I called the hospital to check on her status. A woman named Lauren was answering the phone line and transferring my call which kept getting disconnected. I called and was disconnected 4 times before actually getting the nurses station. Each time I called back Lauren answered the phone. While I was in mid sentence explaining how I keep getting disconnected she would transfer me! This is so rude and disrespectful! How dare you transfer someone in the mist of them talking to you. As if I want to have to keep calling you. Customer service training is needed for Lauren ASAP. So disappointing family members are treated this way!

I was recently seen at the ER. All of the staff and doctors were great. Everyone was very kind and knowledgeable. It was one of the most positive medical experiences I have had. Would definitely recommend that others seek help here.

Absolutely awful horrible people staffing this hospital! My best friend was admitted and I can't find out one single thing about her whereas at Landmark the staff in the emergency room are so friendly. Avoid this place like the plague if you know what's good for you! These people and this hospital are the absolute embarrassment of the hospital and healthcare industry. Maria DuCharme you should be ashamed of yourself! What kind of a nuthouse are you running?

This hospital is trying to charge me $625. The reason is their billing department does not know how to do their jobs and code bills correctly. My copay for ER visits is $150. They are not sending the bill to my insurance company with the proper code and are fraudulently charging me full price. They then sent it to a lawyer… A lawyer? Because you cannot do your job properly? If this goes on my credit report, I will be suing.

The point is, please make sure you verify with your insurance company before you pay anything to these people. You will end up paying more than you should. If I was to pay the asking price, how many hoops do you think I would have to jump through to be reimbursed? All because of THEIR mistake.
