This apartment used to be nice but the current management are horrible at communication in every sense. They can't even bother to put your name in a premade template email simply leaving the “Put resident name here” at the top. They have taken months to address a leak in the roof and have provided no proper timeline except by the end of the year which is unacceptable when the ceiling gets worse every time it rains. They are more focused on installing a new package system that doesn't even work in the first place. Also being closed on the weekends in a student living complex is ridiculous how is anyone supposed to speak to them in person when they aren't there when most of the residents would be able to? I cannot stress enough that there are better apartment complexes in Huntsville Texas at this price point (that also offer a shuttle service unlike this apartment) do not live here unless they make major changes to their practices.

My daughter and her roommates were provided buckets for the 4 separate spots in the roof leaking, promised the roof would be tarped for the months before they get it repaired. We (parents) have had to step in and call multiple times. AC issues, toilet, carpets filthy during move in.every issue requires multiple calls and lack of care by management. I do not like to leave negative reviews, but when it comes kids away at college I think parents should be aware. I do not recommend this place.

Ken and Pete did excellent during the inspections and even fixed my dryer the same day. Great maintenance team.

Moved here because it was nice and cheaper than my last complex. After all the excess charges every month, 9 maintenance requests because nothing works and very apathetic, awful management I can say that was a mistake. Maintenance team and some front desk workers are very good. After it’s all said and done they tack on enough charges every month to make it more expensive than my last place without any of the luxuries.

I want to give a shout out to “Ken” Kendyl. He was the first guy we saw today and part of the maintenance team. I told him l we were out of lights he brought some for the kitchen oven and stove top, replaced all them and gave us replacement for the nasty, filthy, rusty stove top catchers. He also aided helping my son getting his internet set up.

He helped me move the fridge and oven to clean.

Our apartment was NOT move in ready as told to us by management. Cob webs all over the place blinds were disgusting, kitchen was disgusting, and spent literally all day 12 hours cleaning my sons entire apartment top yo bottom, inside and out to make it liveable. Yet, we got an email that it would be professionally cleaned. I will take the $250 discount for MY cleaning services today.

When arriving to check-in GM said to my son let me know how it is going and to communicate about an issue he was already aware about.

We sent pics of our experience of filthy move in cob webs everywhere filthy blinds and windows, paint residue o. Floor and loose dry paint on floor and all he is that he was deeply saddened. No, I am deeply saddened for all the false information I received. NO, I am deeply saddened by the conversation that I had that told me over and over again that his room would be ready.

Not to mention the couch a complete hot mess of dirt and trash in cushions. We signed up in January for clean roommate and not smoking and no pets.

So the star of the day goes to “Ken” for his helpfulness, his observation of the disgusting situation and management claims they can not do Anything!
He cared and was there to try to assist me when I contacted him.

Now, we are waiting on ac unit to be fixed set at 71 and shows 75 due to low battery blaming is potential issue we shall see? !

Management failed to respond to several concerns regarding our apartments. We had issues with roaches and the exterminator we ask for never showed up-i asked multiple times. Also, we lived with what looked like black mold for at least a month which was never resolved during our stay. The apartment was VERY unclean when we moved it.

Since the recent change of management I have really been enjoying the rest of my stay at 1879. Maintenance has been quick with service requests, and the office has been friendly:)!

These people are thieves. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this apartment complex as possible.

My daughter has been a resident of this property for the last year. The unit is beautiful and well kept Maintenance promptly resolves any issues that arises inside the unit.

I am taking 2 stars off because I feel we were misled. We were told a shuttle service was available to the residents.

This is simply not true. Each time we inquire about the shuttle service, we have been told "they are still looking to hire a driver. "

The delusive ad on the website still shows they offer the shuttle service.

It's simply false advertisement.

The properties in the surrounding area which are not as nice, offer a shuttle service to it's residents that commute to and from SHSU and their property grounds.

I hope 1879 management take action and provide what we were promised. It would provide safety and convenience to it's residents.

Do not stay at this apartment complex! I originally came here because it was the cheapest complex around but the quality is so bad I'd rather spend more money elsewhere. Also they raised the prices to $515 monthly for a 4x4 town-home which is insulting based off the quality of their rooms. They do not show respect for their tenants and it is shown by how many problems people have.

While staying here:
- My washing machine has flooded 3 times, only being replaced after the 3rd time and being told it was because we had too many clothes in it, when in reality it was an extremely small load of laundry. Our dryer has had to be fixed twice.
- My refrigerator had to be replaced and we were given a much smaller one. The ice maker in the new fridge is not working after being "fixed" twice. After repeatedly telling maintenance it was still not working we were told they would need to order a new ice machine, which we have heard no updates about since.
- Our electric key lock has been fixed 4 separate times and I bet it will be broken again in about a week or two.
- ROACHES. I have put in a maintenance report about bugs and have personally purchased roach repellents and it is still an ongoing issue.
- DO NOT expect a shuttle when signing here. When I signed for this apartment they advertised as having a shuttle and not once have I seen one running, despite seeing 2 vans in the parking lot that are advertised for 18 Seventy Nine. When I asked if they were going to have a shuttle they said they were in the hiring process. That was months ago and there is still no running shuttle.
- One month I was charged an extremely high amount for electric overages, and when I called the office to ask about the charges, they referred me to the electric company, which then gave me the number of the apartment complex again. I emailed both parties and have yet to receive and answer.
- They do not answer their emails so do not even try to get in contact about a concern that way.

I wish I could clean their gym for them. Every time I try to go I just find something more disgusting than last time. My allergies act up in there cause there’s dust bunnies everywhere. I pick up my medicine ball from the floor & dirt falls on me. I never want to stay long & would rather pay a membership than go back. I also wish they had an amazon hub. It’s embarrassing & tiring to go to the office & wait for them to give us our package. Also, I signed under the impression that there was going to be a shuttle. That never happened & they didn’t make an effort to tell people they were never going to get a new one. It’s not worth me paying this much for the apartment PLUS utilities.

Just so you know the bus to school doesnt currently work and they haven't fixed it in over a year. You can't even use the nextdoor apartment's bus unless you get the one driver who's nice enough to let you use it. So if you have a car that's probably something you can live with. Plus they're raising rent and there are a lot of roaches. It's still not as bad or expensive as the Armory in 2020 though.

Terrible. From mold, flooding on Christmas until new years (on going flooding for 3 years), maintenance man was on drugs and driving crazy around the complex, summers reached 90 degrees because the AC does not reach upstairs, the washing machine flooding the entire apartment and never got a new one. Just do yourself the favor and read the rest of the horrible comments everyone left.
