In early January, I engaged Ace Handyman Services for what should have been a straightforward task: installing a railing for a disabled person. This service was not only about getting a job done but ensuring the safety and well-being of someone vulnerable. The experience, unfortunately, fell short of these critical expectations.

Timeline of Service:

- January 2: Appointment confirmed.
- January 3: Contractor arrived without a railing; ordered one with no charge for this visit.
- January 9: Installation attempted with inadequate tools, resulting in a rejected, unsafe railing.
- January 18: "Completion" of the job.
- January 22: Received a bill for $926.23.

The initial lack of preparedness on January 3 was a minor concern. However, the events on January 9 were alarming. During the installation, the worker's lack of proper tools was evident. Only three out of eight bolts were installed, resulting in a shaky and visibly leaning railing. Given the safety implications, I immediately marked the railing as unusable and refused the work.

The worker promised to rectify the situation but failed to show up on two verbally promised dates, one of which was admittedly due to adverse weather conditions. However, the lack of proactive communication regarding rescheduling was disappointing. It was only after I reached out to Ace's support desk that some progress was made.

The eventual completion of the work, although an improvement, still left much to be desired. The railing, costing around $1000 (parts and labor), remains somewhat shaky and misaligned, with the bolts not flush against the porch or sidewalk, contributing to the instability. This outcome does not reflect the quality one would expect for the price paid.

I acknowledge the hours worked were billed as per the agreed hourly rate. However, the overall experience, characterized by delays, inadequate craftsmanship, and a lack of proactive communication, compels me to caution potential customers. While the final product is functional, the journey to get there was fraught with issues that one should not have to navigate, especially at this price point.

The primary purpose of this railing was to ensure the safety of a disabled individual, a responsibility of utmost importance. The lackluster quality of the work done by Ace Handyman not only failed to meet basic safety standards but also disregarded the special care and attention required in such sensitive situations. This disregard deeply concerns me, as the safety and well-being of any vulnerable individual should be a top priority in such services.

In light of these concerns, I have decided to engage another contractor to redo the work, seeking the quality and safety that this job demands. This decision underscores my disappointment with the service provided by Ace Handyman and my need to ensure the railing is installed to a standard that ensures safety and durability.

The bill has been settled out of obligation rather than satisfaction, but I also find it essential to share this experience. Potential customers should be aware that the service I received from Ace Handyman – marked by delays, inadequate craftsmanship, and insufficient communication – did not meet the professionalism and care that is imperative in such services.

Great technician, knew exactly what issues to address to fix immediate concern along with identifying additional core issues with our glass door.

The Ace Handyman that came out was great. He installed two grab bars on the shower walls, (I had already paid for the bars.). It took him just shy of an hour to install them. The labor cost was about $200.00, which I was told before he came out. I believe that is very expensive for the work he did. Because of that, I will not use their services again

Great response time, very helpful staff and a real stress free deal. If you need work done by an honest, hard working company this is the one. 5 stars and will definitely reach out for any other repairs I need.

These guys were professional, efficient, and friendly, and the finished result turned out great. Our dog is going to be very happy.
