Advanced Women's Healthcare - Dr. Amie Napier reviews
4 Just wanted to brag on my dr for a minute. I recently had a hysterectomy (last week). Fast forward, I'm having minimal pain from the incisions and little to no external pain. She was totally right about having minimal pain a few days out.
I recently looked up what appeared to be my condition and all of its consequences/symptoms. Dr. Napier hit it on the head initially, concluding what it could be and I totally dismissed her, not totally, but some. Speaking sarcastically, because I think I'm a know-it-all about everything including illnesses lol. She was not only right about that, but also about things I've had to deal with post-op, she's been dead on!
Oh and her MA, Sylvia, is always on top of her game too!
But wanted to share my experience for anyone possibly needing this surgery and/or having reservations about our dr - DONT! She knows her sh$!
She's one of my favorite drs and for all you naysayers, go jump off a cliff! I said what i said!
Dr. Napier was recommended to me by the labor and delivery department. If anyone has an inside scoop on an OB GYN its them! She is personable, laid back, and knowledgeable. She delivered both of my boys, and I had the best experience. I hope she never retires. The office staff is very prompt in response!
Unfortunately I am switching care at 21 weeks pregnant. Dr. Napier did not successfully communicate any information with me about my pregnancy except for the fact that she is anti-vax. She seemed annoyed that I asked any questions and I was
told to "do my own research" when I asked about the TDAP vaccine.
I felt that she was not concerned or communicative with me in regards to my pregnancy. I felt uncomfortable with her being my OB so I am switching to a new practice.
I saw Dr Napier for my second pregnancy. While her bedside manner was lacking throughout the pregnancy, I chalked it up to just her personality and thought, maybe I don’t need a Dr to hold my hand like I did in my first pregnancy. Cut to an unexpected and early delivery requiring c-section. Multiple times during my c-section Dr Napier made comments about how dull the knife was, even telling the other staff “see how hard I’m having to push” while I lay there on the table, in complete shock. Once it was done, I watched the clock and didn’t see my son for a solid 20 minutes after he was born, with not a single word from anyone in the room. He was fine. I don’t know what was happening, because they never told me anything was wrong. Just zero communication.
Later on, after maternity leave was over and covid struck, I went back to visit her to discuss some PPD symptoms. I made the comment to her that I felt this need to “hunker down” with my family… meaning figuratively, like protect them from the world. Her response was “well you know Trump’s lawyer (so and so) has said we need to prepare for a big event, and I’ve been stocking up on non-perishable foods like rice and beans. ” Again… I sat there in complete shock. I got my meds, and immediately switched doctors. Any time I think back to my birth experience with my son, I 100% regret not switching doctors sooner. It was a terrible experience. I saw other reviews mentioning her handling of covid, and it reminded me that yes, at one point she did go on a rant during my appointment about how stupid masks were and they were doing us more harm than good and she couldn’t believe how blown out of proportion it had gotten. OBGYN/conspiracy theorist.
My advice… don’t walk, RUN.
