AJ's Ranch Road Grill reviews
27I moved away from San Marcos 3-1/2 years ago and the place I miss the most is AJ's. The Stoner Mac with Pulled Pork is off the chain, as is the Brisket Nachos! You have to try the Texas Tots and make sure they're smothered with Salsa Verde Ranch! My mouth waters just thinking about AJ's food. YUM
I was absolutely blown away by how good my food was. The brisket was ridiculously tender and delicious. I will 100% be going back
A delightful atmosphere, delicious B-B-Q, delectable desert, and divine customer service.
AJ's has a new regular; that's for sure!
Vegetarian here! Just came across this place today. I’ve lived down the road for 2 years. So glad I found them! The dude working the counter is chill and helpful; the tortillas are *legit* and toasted just right. Their egg, potato, and cheese breakfast tacos are a straight up local+better version of Whataburger’s breakfast taquito. Veggie quesadillas were also so savory and delicious.
Give this chill, local gem your business and your taste buds! They won’t do you wrong ;)
The best BBQ! 10/10 Very nice and friendly employees! If you’re looking to try this place for the first time DO IT! The pulled pork, Mac and cheese, also the cheesecake!
Go here! I love AJ's. My husband and I moved to San Marcos in 2017 and wanted a good burger late one night. We both took a bite, our eyes got so wide because of how delicious the burger was! We've tried a bunch of different things off of the menu and have NEVER been disappointed. This is our date night, anniversary, and special occasion/celebration place. We love AJ's. There's no better bbq in town.
If you don't come here to eat when in San Marcos, you have missed out! Slow smoked meats and tons of great sides and desserts!
Aj's is a pretty good place to go for BBQ, sometimes the same as all BBQ places the meat is dry, but overall the food is great and the service here at AJ's is awesome is why I go back.
This place is great we got the egg fried burger and the Texas cheese steak and both were amazing.
The brisket was rubbery and leathery, possibly the worst we have ever had. Potato salad was not bad. Mac n cheese was gross.
Made an order online. Showed up pick it up bor when i arrived to my dismay the restaurant was closed. Waited 40 minutes to see if someone would come but nothing. I have yet to be refunded.
We all had various brisket dishes: nachos, 1/4 lb.plate, sandwich, quesadilla and grilled cheese. All were VERY good! The potato salad and green bean sides were well flavored and, seasoned. Good portion sizes. This little " hole in the wall" place has a great vibe and pleasant staff! We'll def visit again!
AJ's BBQ is one of San Marcos's best-kept secrets. A small dine-in area, they offer more than you'd expect! From brisket quesadillas with chile verde ranch to the Texas Philly (made with brisket and pepper jack cheese) AJ's has it all. One of my favorite places and they're open til 3am even for delivery!
Atmosphere is not great, but they have the best burger in San Marcos. Order the bacon, egg, and cheese burger. You won't regret it.
Basically this place has turned upside down. New staff and it is horrible now. The food doesn’t taste the same at all, phone is never answered. I bought food last night, once I brought it back home I noticed a long piece of black hair in my food. I live in New Braunfels so I didn’t want to drive back and ofcourse they didn’t answer the phone. So sad. This place was the first place I recommended my parents to eat at when I arrived in San Marcos 3 years ago and now I will NEVER eat here again.
I love this hole in the wall looking place. So happy the TXST alumni built this business up. It's not overrun by all of San Marcos' hipster vegan, insta model sorority girls and frat alcoholics.finding a place with great food, great location and great service is heckin' rare. Pretzel bun, brisket sanwhich THAT COMES WITH FRIES is by far the best thing I've had so far. And the hours are even better. When I want BBQ at 2am, guess what? I GET BBQ AT 2AM.
I've never actually gone inside this place, only Favored it in, so I can't judge the ambiance, but I can say that the food is good for the price. Not the best BBQ in the world, but a good place to go for some cheap brisket and a can of Big Red.
You raise your prices on your menu (a dollar increase on the products I have viewed) and you don't even have fresh barbeque.
Who knows where the barbeque is coming from unfortunately.
Small establishment and great local eatery. The brisket nachos were awesome and the brisket phylli cheese stake was really great. Strongly recommend this place. Great Service.
Best brisket in town! Addicted to ajs! Warms my San Antonian heart to enjoy my bbq and tacos with a Big Red. Just feels like home. Reasonable prices as well! They also carry a cool soda brand I'd never heard of beforehand. Their pulled pork sandwich is one of my favorites as well. Also, their sweet tea is made just to my taste. Might be a little on the unsweet side for some hardcore southerners, though.
