A.J.'s Small Engine Repair, Humble TX

Do not take your Lawnmower, Generator or any small engine repairs here. They are terrible. They will quote you a price then over charge you and won't give you your item back if you don't pay. Lady at the front counter has no idea of their policy, management will not come out and talk to you if you have a problem or question.

I'll say it again. Do Not Take Your small engine here. If you do you have no right to complain about them. You know up front. So don't do it.

Wouldn’t even give 1 star but had to in order to leave review! My husband took his lawnmower to be fixed. He was called and given an estimate for about $150. He said that was fine and to go ahead and fix it. Turns out today that he went to pick it up the cashier said his total was $450! They did not call back to say they found anything else wrong and that they were going to fix it. We never agreed to fix anything else other than what was discussed. The Manager said that the mechanic thought we wanted the lawn mower fixed fast to go ahead and continue working. Well yes but that doesn’t mean to go ahead and fix everything without notifying us! Extremely unprofessional! Please be aware they will fix and charge you for any little thing they can! They don’t care about their customers at all! Not coming here again!

Do not go here. They have the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. They are rude and nasty to their customers. I witnessed an employee yelling and screaming at an older gentleman and scolded him like he was a child. I have never been treated so poorly by an employee. They are horrible and should not even be in the business of small engine repair. They are not helpful and the employees seem angry all the time. I would not even recommend my dog go here. They are horrible. If you are the owner, you need to be aware of this as this is going to hurt your business. Now I understand why you have a 2.6 star rating. I figured I would give this business a chance. Next time I will listen to the reviews. If I could give a zero I would. Poorly managed and unprofessional!

My son dropped off our Honda lawn mower to be serviced, 2 blades sharpened, oil change, new air filter, tune up, etc on February 1,2021 and was told they were a week and a half out backlogged but we said ok. We paid $43.30 and decided to leave it to get serviced since it wasn't yet mowing season but would be soon.
But in early March, we began calling AJ's to find out when our mower would be ready for pickup, My son called on March 2,2021 only to be told the mechanic would be working on it soon. Then I called on 3/11 at 10: 39 am to be told by a woman at AJ's that the mechanic would be getting to our mower that day, She said there was only 1 mechanic there.

And, here it is, March 18,2021 and AJ's Small Engine STILL has not yet worked on our mower. When my son went to pick up the mower, they had to dig for it in a pile and the throttle handle was in a separate bag, broken off and not the way we left it or to be worked on. These guys must be on dope and.they don't give a hoot.

And, I want my $43.30 back since I am not paying for storage or no work to be done on my mower, , or, I will contest this with my bank.
**Go elsewhere to get your small engines worked on and make sure they are listed with the BBB too which this shop is not.

I went in here with my husband a couple of weeks ago. My husband really enjoys the place we got what we needed I liked that he was able to get the equipment that he needed for his grass business. It was a little pricey but he decided that it was worth the price he got a quality commercial machine. That he felt he needed and he had been looking to purchase it. The staff inside were really nice and cordial and they laughed and talked with us while we waited. They also have a big bowl of candy while you're waiting you can probably get you some to enjoy. Them running our credit to get the equipment was a easy process we like the place he goes quite often for his business needs. I'm writing this review to help you if you were thinking to give them a try. Why not!

Horrible customer service! Went in to get a simple part and they were very rude! Expect no help at all from them

These people have no courtesy. They act like they are better than you and never give any real personal customer service. Super long repair times and horrible communication.

Jose greeted me at the desk and was very courteous. He worked on my weed eater and fixed it quickly. I did notice the other man and woman at the counter wasn't as friendly, but I didn't deal with them. Ms. Pat also called me and let me know a price before any repairs was done. They have been a little back logged and had a loss in their family. My dealings have always been decent.

Rented a Penske truck here. Check engine light was on. Got the standard Texas response, "They always do that, and if you break down, call the 800 number. ". Well, I did have to go that and it was a disaster. Had to drop the trailer, get help moving the car while a truck wrecker came and towed it. I've since moved out of Texas but if back I'd recommend a different rental site.

Very bad service. Had our lawn mower almost 2 months and it quit running the first time we used it.

A year ago the wheel on my newer Toro lawnmower came off. I tried to fix it where I purchased it (a Toro authorized seller) but it lasted about 20 minutes before it came off again. That dealer was NOT an authorized Toro repair shop and they told me that before I let them attempt a repair. But I thought, "It's only a wheel, so how hard can it be? " After it broke the second time I went looking for an authorized Toro repair shop and found AJ's Small Engine Repair. They were very friendly and professional. Unfortunately, I took my mower to them during their busiest time of the year - Spring. They warned me it would take several weeks to repair as mowers are repaired in the order they are received. I'm happy to say I received my mower after several weeks and it's been working perfectly for the past year. If you think your mower is in need or repair, I would suggest you take it to AJ's before they get really busy.
