Aka Sushi Downtown, Corpus Christi TX

I am a Japanese and I was really surprised because they offer me real Japanese foods.
Off course there some Americanaized ones, but many Nigiri and Unagi（eel）are great so I would like to recommend this wonderful place to Japanese friends who will visit the area.

Food is prepared to the T, always a great visit to see the Kims the originators of CC Japanese Sushi. The O toro is to die for, every cut is fresh, the fresh Blue fine tuna on every Wed is a delight to have in your mouth, taste buds just always jumping when I visit here no matter what I order, and I love to try new things. Overall, everything on the menu is lovely, variety of nice hot herbs soups as well as bacon fried rice that will blow your mind. One of the gems in CC that needs to be heard about.

Upon arriving.it was a nice spot.very cool yet conservative location.offered a seat right away. First, we asked for water, which was good. Not faucet water. I ordered a Sapporo $5. Good.little heavy on foam. Next I ordered a aka ramen bowl which contains a spicy broth. I had 4 other ppl with me and 2 others ordered aka ramen, However theirs was extremely spicy I'm assuming. They could barely eat it without 4 glasses of drinks. Mine however was not spicy at all. I added Sriracha and gochujang sauce and it barely brought some good heat. I also got the Rolando roll. Also we ordered the fried tofu which was good but I've had better (pho tastic- spicy ginger tofu). Over all my bill was $98! They automatically added a 18% tip for our group on EACH tab. We had a group of 5. Would I go again.probably not with a large group. But the ramen is definitely something I've made at home. My egg was not fully cooked either. I give a 3.7

The ratings don't lie. I'm in town for a business conference and the sushi here is outstanding.

The Spider roll was the VIP. Fabulous flavor and flawless presentation.

My waiter, Gracie, was super attentive and fast!

I got the spicy tuna crunch and my boyfriend got the aka chicken ramen.his ramen was spicy but delicious and my roll was amazing and fresh. I also got Gyoza which was good. I will be returning:)

Jay and the rest of the staff here were outstanding! So friendly and made me feel right at home! Jay specifically stood out as he taught me differences of fish, cuts and just educated me! Excellent job by the team! Also my roll was great!

I can wish I could give this place 10 stars. One of the best experiences and THE BEST SUSHI in the world. Such a lovely place, hospitality, and the owners are genuinely the kindest people I ever met. Thank you Aka Sushi.

I ordered a chicken yakoshiba noodles for my daughter. The chicken was raw and the noodles was cold and the some of veggies was raw as well. I ordered aka beef, chicken and shrimp noodle soup. My chicken was raw and cold inside as if the meat was frozen while cooking it and rushed out to my table. Message to the owner. I don't mind waiting for my food and have it cooked throughly, than eating a raw chicken that could kill me and my loved ones. I hardly go out to eat because of fear that we don't know what goes on behind your kitchen. I'm never coming here again. The food was over price and so I'm paying you to kill me

Delicious food, excellent service (even during a lunch rush), high-quality fish in the sashimi. All at very reasonable prices!

I tool my son here to celebrate him getting his driver's license and was pleasantly surprised. My son picked the restaurant because I would never pick sushi. However, the food was delicious and it was delivered quickly. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean and quiet. We will come back.

Ok so in the amazement and awe of the moment I did not take any pictures but they're plates are beautiful. The food is delicious. And the customer service is exceptional! The gentlemen that handle and prepare the food honestly have some of the best artistic and attention to detail skills. I absolutely recommend this place!

Great, high quality food. It's not cheap, but you know that going in and the sushi is outstanding. Very good service, as well.

Ive been here twice. Both times the food was excellent, and the wait staff was great, thank you Liz. I Will definitely come back when im in town.

Good Food, Great wait staff, just wished they would get the AC fixed. Been too warm our last two vists.

Update: We showed up and wanted a place for a party of 10. They seated us, served us our wine and appetizer, THEN they said we need you Gone within a Hour. WTH. We didn't even order, paid what what we had and got the he'll out of there. Ever again will we go back.

Wow, this little spot blew doors off our sushi expectations last night. We had reservations for 6 at 7: 30. I arrived 15 minutes early and the place was popping at the seams, but they had our table ready and sat me quickly. The rest of the bunch showed up a few minutes later. It was a birthday celebration for my bestie’s daughter turning 10. Kids who willingly and enthusiastically eat well always amaze me. Anywho, back to Aka…we ordered the large sashimi platter and a few rolls with a couple of dinner and seaweed salads. Salads were great. Sashimi was incredible. Every type of fish - albacore, red snapper, salmon, tuna, toro, escolar - was the freshest tasting I may ever have had. The presentation was exquisite as well. Not a single piece was left. We also shared the mango roll, rockin roll, aka house roll and the crunch black tiger roll. I personally loved the aka and the tiger best but they were all delicious and perfectly prepared. For dessert, the birthday girl got the green tea mochi ice cream and the tempura fried ice cream for us all to share. And when our wonderful and very attentive waitress (wish I’d gotten her name, she was great) brought it out and led the whole room in a birthday song, there was also a small Sunday just for the birthday girl. I cannot say enough good things about the quality of the service and the food on a very busy Friday night. If you want amazing sushi super close to all the fun stuff in downtown and the marina, with ample parking, this is your spot!

Absolutely love the environment. The food is flavourful and delicious. The waitres/server that helpes us is named Liz and she was phenomenal!

Hands down the best sushi in CC. The sashimi was so fresh, the rolls were delicious and the service was excellent which made the whole dining experience perfect.
