Alamo Drafthouse Cinema South Lamar, Austin TX

Theaters are cramped and seats suck. This is not a modern movie theater and not worth the Alamo name. Won’t be coming back.

Expensive. Loud people talking througout the duration of the movie. I raised a card to and it was ignored. Typical Alamo experience. We should of just watched the film on HBO. Never again

Pretty disappointed with my most recent visit here. Haven’t been to a Drafthouse in a few years, but came back to no fried pickles, soggy fish in the the fish and chips, frozen margarita machine broken, shake machine broken, “Fancy” Gin and Tonic tasting mostly of old cucumbers, and Margaritas with less flavor than a LaCroix. At least the pre-movie treatment was still nice.

I had been hearing of the Alamo Drafthouse from AICN since the early 2000’s and, it’s a bit silly to admit, these theaters played a really big role in my early interest in living in Austin. We’ve been here more than a decade now and regularly see movies at all of the Austin locations, but South Lamar, probably will always be special to me as the first Alamo Drafthouse I went to.

First time to Alamo Draft house was not a good one. Was excited to see a movie, and Alamo had good reviews. The theater for the movie I saw was nearly empty and me and my party whispered briefly about the movie very quietly, and a rude waiter came and threatened to kick us out. I'm able to whisper fine in other theaters without being threatened. The cinema had only 10 people. Will not be coming back. Rude waiters and overpriced food.

You treat your workers so badly it’s so sad: (I have friends who have been repeatedly taken advantage of, lied to, underpaid, and worked to death. I’m so tired of seeing them suffer

Love Alamo! But… the seats at this one has to be updated. I am way too spoiled on the loungers. After watching a 2.5 hour movie… my back was a bit sore. Other than that, great entertainment, food, and drinks.

The service is decent. Although I have seen some good delivered to the wrong seat and people dropping glasses. Seats are comfy.

Food was great but half of the order was forgotten. I had to track someone down so we could get the rest of the food and drinks. The staff was friendly and quickly tried to resolve the issue.

Seen some cool movies there, also dig their trailer-type presentations before the movie. Comfy place and nice food too!

My favorite theatre in town. We absolutely love the food! My favorite is the cauliflower wings and I’m not even vegetarian. Also the cookie milkshake is dangerously good. Always enjoy coming here for my movies.

Cool concept. Inside was really neat. Guy in front lobby barking orders could have been a little friendlier but the rest of the staff was great, most were very friendly. Will return again if ever in the area.

Long time fan of Alamo DH, I order a pretzel every time I go. Last night I ordered my pretzel and it appears they changed vendors for this item. Instead of baking them they are now prepare. Smaller and seemed to be microwaved, disappointing

Alamo is the best, there's no other option for movie lovers. They have great pre shows, solid food and drink, and most importantly they strictly enforce the no talking/no texting rule.
