American Windmill Museum reviews
19Everything was great - the staff, the exhibits, the unexpected miniature dioramas and trains. It was a great experience all around.
I learned a lot about history today and the reason for the different types of windmills and their purpose. VERY interesting and insightful information.
Loved it, if your not into windmills you may not like it. Lot of history and different types of world wide wind mills. There’s a toy train exhibit and furnished doll house exhibit. That was ok to. Did not cost to much. The biggest thing of all they had AC when it was 104 degrees out did not really look at the out side windmills. It’s not a hands on exhibit. You walk around look at the wind mill and read about it. If you like wind mills I think it’s enjoyable, if your not in to windmills you might want to find something else to do.
Awesome museum - knowledgeable and friendly staff, and 2 huge buildings filled with history. Definitely worth planning to visit when in Lubbock.
Love this place! Great windmill and millstone history and displays but also amazing model trains and dioramas!
First time here, and it's definitely bigger than it looks on the inside. Many different types of windmills and model train displays as well. There is also a large area for parties that has murals on 2 different walls. Don't forget the gift shop! We'll worth the trip to visit!
Wow! Who knew there were so many styles and types. They are a wonderful representation of the types of windmills - both inside the building and outside. Like most locals, the folks running the museum were super nice and definitely knew their stuff. The indoor railroad and it's dioramas we're very, very detailed. Definitely visit and expect to spend a couple of hours at a minimum.
This a great museum for families, small children and grown ups alike. All the employees are just great, will return!
This place is cool. Don’t let the outside fool you. This building is packed full of things to see, not just windmills. There were an unbelievable number of windmills inside the building. I didn’t even know that there were that many different windmills. They were all labeled with a plaque and information. They had a display of millstones and the their uses. There was also a huge train layout with a model of downtown Lubbock back when they had a train station. And it has air conditioning. Cool place to check out on a hot day.
Details were beyond my expectations. Inside at the beginning are trains and models doll houses. I enjoyed the video on grinders. Wall mural was done by many and told showed history of Texas.
Best place to take the little ones to explore. They also have an awesome working model train collection and track that my son loves!
The kids and I loved it! All the actual windmills and their history are very interesting, plus there’s a lot more in the museum than windmills!
I was really surprised and enjoyed this museum. Lots of cool equipment in addition to the windmills. Lots of history along with model trains, a hugh mural and scavenger hunt for the kids.
Great display of model trains, windmills and miniature houses. Well worth the time to visit. Model train display today, so tickets were only $5. Usually $6.
Second time here. It's a great place for all members of your family. The train set is amazing. The windmill side was very interesting as well. The mini houses were very cool. The grinding stones were cool also. You'll have a great time here
Oh wow! What a find! Take your time there is so much to see in there, with Windmills from all over the world, including South Africa!
Didn't even know what this place was. A museum with trains, wind mills, doll houses and more! Gotta take the FAM!
Really neat place! Definitely worth the stop. The staff was really nice, and they allowed me to bring my dog through the whole museum!
