It’s always stressful knowing if your loved one is going to receive the type of care they need and deserve. Putting your faith and trust in others is scary when it comes to such an important decision. I researched 5 facilities before deciding on Atria Sugar Land for my father in law to call home. Even with all the research you still pray it’s the right choice. Over the course of the 6 years my father in law lived there my husband and I got to know the staff and many of the residents. We saw and experienced the care that was given. We saw genuine compassion, staff members go above and beyond and activities/events scheduled throughout the day to keep the residents occupied and having fun. My father in law passed in early 2020. His dementia in later years didn’t always make things easy but they never wavered in their care or compassion. It was amazing to see how skilled they were in helping someone through difficult moments.
A year and a half later it was time for my mom to move into assisted living. We went back to Atria and saw a lot of the same familiar faces welcoming us back with warm embraces. We felt like we were returning home. My mom has been there now coming up on 2 years. She is happy and thriving under the same level of care we experienced with my father in law. She loves it there. She would tell me if she didn’t. In total we have been part of the Atria Sugar Land family for 8 yrs.
One of the reasons we chose Atria way back when was because of a gut instinct. Hi Something just felt right. It felt sincerely warm and welcoming. Since then new facilities have opened closer to us with a more modern look and trendy decor. But to us they had more of a cold hospital vibe to them. The hallways were white on white. We love Atria for its cosy intimate atmosphere and small community feel but what truly matters is the staff. They are the heartbeat of a community.
Today I had a question while visiting and Sherri went above and beyond. It was the end of the day and she had just finished up a meeting yet immediately offered to help. I felt so comforted by her words and actions that it compelled me to write this review. I should have written one sooner as I know that reviews from families and residents helped me when I was researching. I also met with Angel the activities director who is a rockstar. She is loved by the residents and her love for her job and residents is evident in all the activities and events she organizes. She even does my mom’s nails every week for her purely out of kindness. I had no idea but it blew me away.
In the 8 years with 2 parents having lived there I can honestly say we have never had any serious concerns. Even minor ones were addressed immediately and appropriately.
Today I was reminded once again why we chose this place 10 yrs ago and rest easy knowing my mom is happy, safe and loved.

This past Thursday I will have been at the Atria Sugar Land for just over 3 weeks. It is one of the nicest places I have ever lived. I am 73 years of age.
The people from Administration to ALL staff, to the residents, are the most caring people I have ever met. I feel very welcome and have inherited a second family. They have more than met every need or request that I have made.
Although there are many activities, Atria is a very quiet place.
The meals are delicious and very nutritious and well portioned out. We have 3 meals a day:
7-8: 30 am. 11-12: 30 pm. 4-5: 30 pm.
Among the activities I enjoyed during the month of April were: Afternoon Tea, meèting new people; monthly book club, snow cones on the front porch, planting a succulent plant in a small glass atrium, Bible Study, making an art project, meeting with Chef to discuss meals, art class making an Essential Oil diffuser, and of course Bingo at 3 pm. 6 days a week. There are many more activities than these, but these are the ones I have enjoyed so far. I feel that I am a part of a real family.
I am independent except for a walker. The staff gives me and monitors my medication. They also randomly drop by to ask if I am going to meals and activities. This is a small intimate family.
I am very happy here and look forward to a long season here.

Atria Sugar Land is nice. The apartment is very large and the staff are great. They are very helpful! I highly recommend for a great senior living experience.

Bringing mom to assisted living was a difficult decision that I kept putting off, but after she was here I realzed that my only mistake was that I should have done it sooner.
