Barkaritaville Pet Resort, San Antonio TX

Just a reminder of that this place did to my baby two years ago. Do not go here.

This is a photo of Kali, WHO WAS LEFT TO DIE AT THIS RESORT. Her last day of life was spent alone in a cage, waiting for her owners to return. The resort did not take Kali to a vet, but left her with CRUSHED RIBS, lungs FULL OF BLOOD, neck punctures, and a slit tongue. THE OWNER OF THIS “RESORT” POURED SODIUM NITRATE ON KALI’S TONGUE AND NECK TO TRY AND MAKE THE ATTACK SEEM LESS THAN IT WAS! SHE IS NOT A TRAINED VET OR EVEN A TECH! When the owners arrived they said “it looks worse than it is, she was sitting up ready to come home today! ” THEN CHARGED THE OWNERS FOR THE VISIT AS THEY LEFT IN TEARS. THIS PLACE NEEDS SHUT DOWN.

My dog must’ve really enjoyed her stay because when I walk her now she tries to walk us down the road back to the resort They accommodated her since she isn’t good with other dogs. She’s an English bulldog so she needs lots of care and it’s obvious they cleaned her wrinkles and gave her her medication during her stay! I recommend them to everyone and will be using them again! Oh and she was groomed and her fur is SO soft!

My GSD loves Barkaritaville! They have always taken good care of him when I’ve had to board him. He also enjoys his weekly daycare visit.

Both of my puppies boarded here for about a week and let me just say how amazing it was! All of the staff was fantastic and made me feel at peace knowing my kiddos were in a fun, safe location. I also, received the cutest photos and message updates throughout their stay.

Our dog Una loves her Day Care stays and I can't get her out of the truck fast enough when we drive into the parking lot. All the staff is great.

My pomeranian, Cannoli, seems to enjoy his time at daycare. The animal care technicians are responsible and professional.
I wish the scheduling was more flexible and there were fewer blackout weeks.

Took my dog for orientation. What I was told would occur for introducing my dog to a new environment was not related to me at the end of the day. When they gave me the rates for Doggie Day Care, I was shocked with with the fees and how they scheduled. Had I been given more information prior to going, I would not have gone there. I was also surprised that there was no way to see the facility beyond the lobby. Even a virtual tour would have been appreciated. I know that they try to make sure that animals are vaccinated and that animals are safe according to the evaluation process which is good. But when asked if they provided information on their rates etc, they said I could take a picture. To be so expensive, they can't give out something to read about their facility and rates was a surprise to me. I feel sure they take added measures to keep a dog safe, but disclosure is limited.

We have happily had barkaritaville watch our French bulldog and have been very happy with the staff and the facilities

My cat stayed at this resort in December of 2022 for about week. I completed a walk through the day before to ensure my cat was staying in a safe environment. There were no issues when I dropped him off. I waited at least 30 min to make sure he was comfortable. The female worker got him out of his kennel with no issues.

Fast forward to September 2023 I am told that there were behavioral issues with my cat and they can’t take him because it was noted in his report card that he was aggressive towards the personnel. This was the first time I was hearing of this. When I picked up my cat nothing but good things were communicated to me. I didn’t receive a phone call or email while I was on vacation to notify me of the issues that they had encountered with my cat. Had I been notified I would have had a family member pick him up because I was out of state.

Now I don’t know if my cat was stressed during his stay, if he was eating, if they cleaned his litter box, or if they let him out of his “condo”. I understand if they can’t take him, but I spent $400.00 on a stay that I thought all this time was a good stay.

The GM explained that there was a change of personnel and she was not employed at that location when my cat stayed. No refund was offered. I’m highly disappointed that a high rated resort lacked in communication and in service. If you have a Cat I would highly reconsider this place.

I have been taking Cooper (my dog) to Barkaritaville for about a year. The staff is very amazing and always accommodating. I would highly recommend giving Barkaritaville a shot for your pet’s short/long term lodging.

The staff there are so nice and attentive. They are well prepared and pay close attention to special needs. The facility is clean and my pup seems to enjoy herself. Definitely recommend them.

I have taken my dog to this location many times for daycare as well as boarding, but over the last few years every time I have boarded him he has contracted Kennel cough. This last time in July was very upsetting, because we were headed to drop my son off at college and we had to hospitalize your dog for 4 days because of the infection. I reached out to the manager, and tried to seek some type of compensation for this issue, but they never got back in touch with me. I am definitely disappointed in the management of this facility, and hope that they can improve on their customer service.

My experience with Barkaritaville grooming service has been a very pleasant one.
Alex, is an excellent groomer, he is among the best that I have experienced. Alex is kind, patient, gentle and very understanding with all the needs that your furbaby might entail. Alex loves what he does and it shows.
I am extremely relieved that Alex will be taking care of all my furbaby’s grooming needs. I know she’s in the very best of hands.

My cats Mina and Corina had a great time at Barkaritaville! I really appreciate the staff taking their time to send updates and answer any questions I had. My cats will definitely be returning!

My Xanadu was cheerful when I picked her up which was great. Also, the folks at Barkaritaville were in communication about Xanadu’s progress. So happy I found them!

Very happy with the grooming done by Alex. He is great at communicating and seemed genuinely concerned about our pup. Already on his schedule for the next grooming!

The staff treat your pets very well. The facility is clean and easily accessed. My favorite thing is that Barkaritaville is open for a short time on Sundays for pick up. Unlike my vet, I can pick up my boarded dog on a Sunday afternoon instead of waiting an extra day. Highly recommend!
