Belle's Chicken Dinner House reviews
19Always order the non-fried chicken. Since the sides are unlimited and the entree is huge, I recommend ordering one entree to split between two persons, especially since each is about $20. The tenders are huge, but in my opinion the fried and non-fried half chickens are more worth it. You can easily get tenders for a much cheaper price elsewhere. The meat is slow-roasted, so it's tender and brined well. Hate the decor. Too tryhard. I also think they force the waiters to fake a Southern accent, so do tip them well out of sympathy.
I ate here for the first time this evening, and it was wonderful. We enjoyed the fried chicken and chicken fried steak along with the sides. The only downer was the sides (Delicious green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, and cream gravy) that were wasted because you couldn't bring them home. They are all you can eat so they have to stay. We did not order extra (accept for the mashed potatoes, which we ate) and were dismayed to see them thrown out. Other than that, dinner was phenomenal! The staff were wonderful as well!
Cannot beat it! Home style food and amazing customer service! Plus they do the chicken dance and let em know if it's someone's birthday! Rolls are also AMAZING!
Food is awesome! Staff is great. Process not bad for such a great meal. Plus, good country jams on the jukebox!
The BEST PLACE for a chicken dinner, or lunch. A little pricey, but you do get your money's worth!
We usually go in large groups and everyone usually says they are not impressed. I would say it is okay food but has a big price tag that comes with it. I believe it was around 55 for two plates drinks and sides. It is a okay place to hangout because they usually seat our large group quickly.
I visited on Thursday October 12,2023. I decided to go because of the reviews, the raving of how good the chicken fried steak was… when I walked in the lady that greeted and seated me was the best. However, my waiter passed me by and went and waited on a couple that came in after me; (I wondered was it because I was a woman of color) I started to leave then, but I had to try this “GOOD” chicken fry. I saw the greeter tell the waiter something and that’s when she came over to my table. She took my order, I received my food and OMG was I soooooo disappointed. The chicken fried steak was fried waaaay too hard in seem like old grease. The taste remind you of liver the sides were good especially the green beans. When asked how was my food, I let them know about the chicken fry. They offered to fix me another one. I brought it home and my son is Mikey (eat anything) he said “Mother what is this, I know you didn’t pay for this” I don’t like to put businesses on blast, but this was one of my worst food experiences. Like setting a match to your hard earned money…
The fried chicken was awesome. All the sides made me feel like I was eating at my grandparents' house! Yum, yum!
Went last week and had lunch. The catfish was excellent. The sides were excellent, and the service was excellent.
Oh my God, the best fried chicken ever.
McKenna was fantastic. She really took care of us. She was a lot of fun!
I got the non fried chicken. It had such a good flavor I didn't need a dipping sauce. The meat just fell off the bone. My man got the chicken fried steak and could only eat half of it because of the size. The rolls are very dense.
Placed carry out order for 2 regular tenders at 4: 54 pm. Tipped 20%. Website said show up at 5: 30 pm. Showed up at 5: 30 pm. Waited an additional 20 minutes for order. No longer tipping on carry out. Enjoy picture of me and tenders.
As the road trip continued, Belle’s Chicken Dinner House appeared on the radar and we’re glad that it did. The menu is straight forward: you choose a main dish (fried chicken, chicken tenders, baked chicken, chicken fried chicken (think of schnitzel made of chicken with thicker outer layer) or even fried catfish and then you get a choice of sides for $18.99 (plus tax and tip). We chose green beans, creamed corn, mashed potatoes and gravy for our sides. What’s more, sitting there waiting for our to-go order, I couldn’t help smelling the freshly baked bread rolls that were served to everyone dining there. It was so exciting to find a couple of the rolls in our to-go bag once we opened it! The food was very filling, hearty. The creamed corn and bread rolls were standouts and the chicken itself crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. As for the atmosphere, it’s a bit dark inside with dim lighting. When you do look at the walls, which you should, you’ll have a laugh - there are cutouts of famous characters with quotes slightly altered in good humor. There were also country classics from George Strait, Garth Brooks, Brooks n Dunn and even Waylon Jennings playing overhead that added to the overall ambience - its a roadside diner and it does it very well! And finally the service could not have been nicer. A first timer at Belle’s, the friendly waitress explained the options and answered all my questions including about the incredibly delicious smelling bread rolls. The wait was probably 15 to 20 minutes, which was fine for us knowing that it is not a fast food joint. All around solid choice when you’re in Abilene. Highly recommend!
Excellent service, I asked for a steak knife for the chicken fried steak and they said it should cut with a butter knife. They replaced it and the second one was better.
Great food and great service. But almost no AC and the price was too high, $18.99 per plate.
Absolutely amazing lunch. Chicken fried steak was delicious, tea was excellent, atmosphere was rustic and homey. And the service and staff were very friendly and helpful. Top notch "hole in the wall"
Oh how I miss my belle's! Hands down the best chicken in the United States with all the fixins! I just want to move back just for the chicken! I miss and love this place! Worth a trip and a drive if you live a ways! See you soon, bless you and bless the chicken you make!
First time to have lunch at Belle’s. Excellent food and service! Rolls, chicken tenders and catfish were delicious! Sides disappeared way too fast since they too were great. Hostess, waitress and manager were all so kind and helpful. Great location too! Kinda dark and loud during lunch. Will definitely go again when Im in town!
Erica was FANTASTIC! The food amazing. $9.99 to use an extra plate & the lame excuse "we give you extra on the sides" made this a place we will not go to again. Extra on the sides? We couldn't finish that & you can't take it home. Instead they literally force their servers to throw out tons of food. Wow. That's the 3 stars.
