Big Stacy Neighborhood Pool reviews
17Stacy Pool is a year-round pool with lifeguards and it's heated during winter months. Showers are avaiable
I used to ride my bike here a lot, it was great because it used to be free. I think they charge a few bucks now. When it was free you’d have to wait a bit for a lane for lap swim, but maybe with the price entry fee there will be less of a wait time.
Completely free all ages access here at the Big Stace. No frills, just your standard 30.5 meter rectangle neighborhood swimmin' hole. Super convenient location right off I-35S and Oltorf. Really friendly and professional lifeguards on duty at all times, kind enough to have a quick chat or lend a kick board for lap swimming. Very relaxed and courteous crowd too and never packed. May go back for lap swimming every day til it gets cold out.
This is free pool ️ for public, and life guard were on duty all times. FYI park your car on the Live Oak St so easy to get out. They had changing and restrooms. It’s pretty cool place.
Nice area, playground near by. Kind of hidden. Only downside is no kiddie pool area. Water starts at 3'5"
Awesome place! Idk if it was free for today or all the time, but kool place. The pool goes 10 feet deep
From hobos to investment bankers, this pool attracts all types. I guess because it's in Travis Heights it pulls from the beautiful neighborhood homes as well as thw creek which is home to many vagrants. It can get a little sketchy and there are some scuzzy people but for some reason it's probably one of Austin's best pools. It's super laid back and the water is always warm.
Warmish water. If its moderately warm out the water isnt quite as refreshingly warm as youd like. Apparently the best time to come is when its colder out. Still fun and free. Lots of people just swimming laps, so check the schedule.
Well I'm not a big fan of swimming (or in my case floating during the fall) but my 10 year old granddaughter loves the water. So it's nice to be able to take her to a heated pool. That's one way I can keep her happy.
Free swimming and all the hobos you could hope for. Birds are often drinking the water while you swim.
The only sad thing is that we looked online and it said they were open til 8pm but they closed at 7pm wish they would update their website for this
The restrooms were clean but despite the families that were there I didn't find this place to be very family friendly. To start there's very little shade. The only shade is on the lap side of the pool. So if you want to put your belongings near you they'll have to go in the sun. I also noticed a couple folks that looked homeless that may have been using the pool to.clean off. I also saw another homeless guy using the restroom and one sleeping in the parking lot. There are no steps into the pool only ladders and there's a weird lip around the endge of the pool that makes it hard to sit at the edge and put your feet in.
During the summer time the water is very warm. But other than that you can't complain because it is free to the public. Perfect water temperature in the winter time. Just wish that the dressing rooms were bigger and the showers were better.
Nice pool. It's a free pool, so will be crowded. The parking lot is small, but there is parking on the streets around it.
Pretty good pool, nice temperature, probably 82-84 degrees most of the time. Reasonably clean. It’s a free community pool, definitely nothing fancy, but the price is right. I always bring a lock and use the lockers. One shower. I rounded up, probably give it 3 ½ stars.
This pool is so great. It's open from basically sunrise to sunset, except for Saturday when they open at 12. The pool is always warm and there are multiple free bathrooms and a free shower in each changing room. They always have very kind lifeguards on duty and they even run lifeguard classes out of the pool. Oh and the best part: it's free to get in!
Street bums go there to shower. They are not there to swim. The employees do nothing about it. They have closed two of the showers. So if you do want to rinse off after being in the pool you will need to stand in a line of Street bums. It makes for a very unsafe environment for the families and the kids that are using the pool as it was intended. Absolutely shocking how this facility is being managed. I am sick of having to deal with Street bums every time I visit big Stacy. I will not be going there anymore.
