16 Awesome place, stop by to take a peek and found it very interesting and nice, rr are clean but no hot water
But a great place to get out and enjoy nature.
Friendly and helpful staff! Life-like plants and animals in the many habitat exhibits! Large variety of books and field guides in the shop. Plenty of souvenirs for adults and kids. Don't forget your passport stamp!
Most of the trails were flooded when we went but we still got over a 2.5 mile hike. Will surely return
Really wonderful to see just how important preservation is. Many great hiking trails. You never know what you will see.
Not first time here but always fascinating.
Saw a film concerning the history of the Thicket and how the area became a national park and preserve.
Stop in here! The visiter center has a little museum inside that kids and adults will love! Even a hands on science area where they can learn!
We stopped here on a spur of the moment. Curiosity being the driving force. The very competent rangers at the visitors center gave us a thumbnail overview of the National Preserve. The gift/souvenir shop has lots of interesting items. We will definitely come back to experience the Big Thicket.
Went in to get my hunting permit. Park Ranger on duty was very friendly, and knowledgeable. Painless process.
The Visitors Center is wonderful. Great exhibits with lots of information on the Big Thicket. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The gift shop has wide selection of items and if you are looking for books to learn more about the area, they have a great selection. Well worth a visit.
Great ride on the bike/walk trail from the arboretum to the big thicket visitor's center and back. You could actually begin at the edge of kountze and add 3+ miles if you wanted, but we like the quiet, treed start from the arboretum.
We only had had a couple of hours to spend here, so we didn't get to explore very much. There is walking trails, you can kayak, paddleboard, camp and much more. A lot of different wildlife in the area too. Staff was a wealth of information and friendly.
Went for the Earth day celebration. They had a Junior Ranger event which was great for my 6th grader. Had a great time learning about the many aspects of being a ranger.
Awesome place to go bike, hike, have a picnic with family, they also have a nice store where you can get stuff for your kids or yourself, and a tour inside explaining the ecosystem in the area and all the activities and trails around, súper recommend it to go on any day of the week, love doing bikes there’s a nice bike trail where you can spend hours to ride! Hope am comming back soon
Didn't see access to trails from here. Nice stop for restroom and picnic tables. Grab a map and drive to one of the trails.
I really love this place. They have trails with views I didn't even think would be around here!
Great place to get out and about. We had our dog with us and she got a tick on her (expected since it's trails) so make sure if you bring your puppies that you check them afterwards. Just in case. Beautiful place, we will definitely be coming back.
