Black Bear Diner Amarillo

Had an excellent breakfast traveling through Amarillo. Service was great and attentive. Highly recommend.

Hosts are very slow at this location, I ordered the chicken fried steak with hashbrown and eggs over medium. The hashbrown where crisp on the outside but much of the inside was way undercooked. The eggs where super runny. The chicken fried steak was very greasy. It was a nice looking presentation but I left about 70% of it just because of the way it was cooked.

The service was outstanding and the tables were clean! The food was OK a few tweaks and it could be a lot better. The country chicken was absolutely terrible, the breading wouldn't even stay attached to the chicken, the chicken tasted over cooked. The breading tasted like it was fried in weeks old grease! For breakfast the next morning I tried an omelet and asked for American cheese and it tasted extremely cheap like it was sliced cheese instead of shredded cheese which over powered all the other good ingredients!

Came in after a long day of trucking. Passed my DOT inspection and decided to treat myself to a good meal and a good meal it was! I ordered the salmon dinner and the sauce that came with it made it a true delight.

Another delight are the people who work here. My waitress Ellie, was so sweet and helpful considering how socially inept I am. The rest of the staff was very nice and professional!

The atmosphere while I was here was nice. The radio isn't blaring out. The decor is nice and cozy, allowing me to eat in peace!

All in all this place is great!

If you like Bear themed restaurants this is the place for you. They have black bear everything, and I do mean everything. The walls, pillars, booths, barstools, menus, and their small gift shop section are all incredibly themed around the North American Black Bear. Order the Denver Omelet and Waffles. They really can't get those wrong. The service is slow and relaxed, expect to wait after you order longer than you would anticipate. The kitchen serves accurate food, that could use more seasoning, flavor, and taste. Eggs and bacon are not their strongest items, and their fruit isn't very fresh. Their fresh Orange juice is made daily, when the machine isn't broken.

The worst black bear diner I have ever tried to eat at. My food was burnt to the point that I couldn't stand to eat it.

I might be a little biased on this one because I like Black Bear Diners, but I had breakfast here and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was also still half asleep when I wandered in, so I appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and the friendly, welcoming staff. The coffee was great. My eggs fried hard, bacon, hashbrowns, and English muffin came as ordered, cooked perfectly, very tasty, and stuck to my ribs until dinner. That was the perfect way to gear up for a long day of trucking. Many thanks and I hope to be back around again soon!

As a 20 year vet trucker its nice to sit down in a nice country diner like black bear diner, black bear diner needs to expand to My home state of FL that would be awesome! Food is so GOOD and the service is wonderful!

Needs a lot of work, server attitude and skills need to pay attention to the food going out Black Bear diner is a great but this one is lacking a little

I came to eat at the place just so the waitress can ignore me after I placed the menu down. It looks like a good place to eat so hopefully next time I never get that same waitress.

Love the black bear tried the country fried steak for the first time was not impressed should have asked if it was frozen cause it was and you could taste the freezer burn but I will still come back cause everyone is very nice and I know there steaks and breakfast is to die for

Good food, service, and the amount of food for the price is great Friendly, prompt, courteous, clean, like the Decora.

You get a lot of food but you'll pay for it. The prices are up there, I know food costs have gone up but they could come down a bit. $26 for breakfast

Went for dinner, huckleberry lemonade was interesting. Pot roast was good, chicken alfredo
fettuccine sauce tasted from jar, not the home made (former chef commented). Server was very nice.

We had an unbelievably tasty breakfast with family during our visit to Amarillo. The staff were very friendly and responsive to anything you needed. The atmosphere was pretty cool as well with the log cabin & bear decor. I’d recommend this eatery to anyone interested in a hearty meal.
