Blue Skies of Texas West reviews
7 I worked there for almost 10 years, and only stayed that long because I enjoyed serving that population of retired officers and their spouses, for the most part. The management, however went from bad to worse over the years with a "chaplain" who admittedly hated doing visits with dying hospice patients being promoted to administrator, where he was equally incompetent and adding a very unqualified nurse as the executive director. Not only did she devalue my experience, she was also jealous of my knowledge, which I tried to offer to her to help her succeed in her new role. But the real fun came when they reduced everyone (except management) in our departments salaries by 10% for over two years and only restored it when we were very short handed, and once again I was being handed a lot of extra work, and then it was only when I brought it up. Later on during the lockdown, I volunteered to work with the covid patients with an agreement that I would be compensated for being required to be available 24/7 for the duration. I kept my end of the deal, and risked my life only to be told afterwards that I wouldn't be compensated because I'm salary. The agreement ahead of the extra hours included any visits done outside of my usual work-week, so that was a lie. After I left in July 2022, they had one more parting gift for me, which was screwing with my health insurance through the cobra carrier. Too bad they didn't appreciate a really good nurse that was well respected by the residents.
**The reply states the issues were resolved. The cobra situation was resolved after NUMEROUS calls and emails I made, and being blown off until I tagged the CEO on the most recent one. The salary disputes were never resolved or even addressed other than saying too bad for me, and that was after I did all the work.
I've worked at Blue Skies of Texas for 16.5 years, and I can say no place is perfect, but Blue Skies is better than perfect because it is a community of leaders and employees who seek always to understand and to do the right thing to provide service to residents and to take care of each other as employees. Proud to write, "Blue Skies of Texas" on my IRS return!
I've been a resident here for 14 years! I've always loved the place, but following a traumatic experience when I had to put both my husband and my dad in memory care here and move into an apartment I was overwhelmed! My friends were great, but the people who really "wowed" me with their knowledge and concern were the staff here at Blue Skies! They were INCREDIBLE! You simply don't know what old age will bring you, but if you live in Blue Skies the help you will receive is unprecedented!
Great community and luxurious living conditions whether deciding to retire, or just changing pace. Very respectful towards veterans and their families, while equally receptive towards those who are not military but choose to make Blue Skies their home.
I hope they broke up that 2nd shift at freedom house because they’re the reason no one stay. I was excited about working there but working that 1st unit is absolutely toxic
Nice, except mandatory dining plan is too restrictive! Must use each month or lose monthly payment and meal entree choices frequently are not tasty enough to provide quality meal! I enjoy the friendship of residents very much! Most items are very expensive for what you receive.
They should pay their staff more. 11.50-12.50 for houskeeping, if you're lucky.there are other places paying $16 an hour for housekeeping
