Been shopping at blue velvet for years now, I can comfortably say this is the best vintage store in austin in terms of stock. What they curate is the perfect ratio of vintage to affordable - a lot of places these days make you pay $50 for a ~vintage~ tee that’s likely to fall apart if you wash it too many times. Blue velvet still has sick stuff that you could find for $50, but it’s not inflated (too much). Writing this review as I wear a pair of old Ralph Lauren khakis I got from blue velvet yesterday for $35 that I could’ve gotten off grailed for like $80.

This place is such a rip off - $35 for a 30 year old stained and faded T-shirt. The woman at the counter told me they dont negotiate pricing and could only give a courtesy 10% off as the shirt was stained. Thats $32 dollars for a old tshirt! This place has a couple nice pieces but clearly this is a hipster trap - cant believe they are charging these prices for vintage clothes! There are a bunch of other stores close by that arent price gouging… I would head there

The workers here are pretty cordial! You can find interesting pieces of clothing here.
However, don't buy any of their accessories. They get a large portion of them from Shein or other fast fashion brands, and then mark it up by 50-100%. Saw some earrings, and decided to Google image search it and the earrings were sold by Shein for 1.99 and they were selling them for 8.99. Same thing with the clear glasses I saw (which I owned at one point but got rid of them bevause they were VERY low quality unfortunately.) The glasses at $2.50.on Shein but they sell them for $10.

My favorite vintage/thrift store in Austin. Great men’s selection, friendly service, and curated styles that make it hard to fit everything in the dressing rooms. Respectable prices too.

Would highly recommend to anyone!

The kindest vintage shop in town. Tara is lovely and is always there to greet you when you roll in. The selection stays fresh and they've always got at least one great find. A+

Thank you for staying open despite 1,000,000 plus cases of covid in TX! It's insulting that some people feel compelled to leave petty, self-important, and trollish comments when the BV staff is literally risking their own health to help others find cool stuff. Please, support local stores. It's not "business as usual" these days.

A go-to stop on the North Loop circuit whenever I need some new (old) threads. Excellent selection and a maddening array of temptations near the checkout counter. Love this joint!

I’ve been shopping at Blue Velvet for more than a decade. It is a perfect combination of reasonably priced and perfectly curated. The employees are attentive and friendly and I’ve been particularly impressed by the way they have handled the covid situation by opening up for individual private shopping appointments. I seriously can’t wait for them to reopen their doors for regular hours, I need some jeans!

This is one of my favorite vintage stores in the City. I’ve been shopping with them for years. They always have a good selection of clothing for all era’s (men, women) and great accessories.
