Bobbie's Cafe, San Antonio TX

On the search for a good Chicken Fried Steak and Bobbie’s gets recommended often. The portion was nice, but the flavor was perfect. The breading sticks to the steak when you cut. And you can really cut it with a fork if you wanted. Very tender. Gravy was perfect. Could have used a larger portion of potatoes, but that’s minor.

Service was over the top. Extremely friendly and just a great experience overall. I heard that their guac is really good, but you have to ask for it since it’s not on the menu. Definitely will try it next time.

Friend's desire for sausage biscuits with gravy took us to Bobbie's. My last visit was prepandemic. Her order of biscuits came smothered in cream gravy and sausage then covered with monster onion ring from my plate of chicken fried steak, fried okra, & 7 really big onion rings. Steak larger than platter and rings covered steak. Will admit it's bigger than one I always get at Tip Top. Service was impeccable. Terry was such a professional.

Came to try this place for our first time.there was no one waiting in line & there was plenty of empty clean tables.the waitress said we would have to wait 15-20 minutes to be seated!? I was like why I would understand if there was people already waiting but there wasn't! We decided to just leave and went across the street to eat where we were sat right away!

This is an amazing lil Cafe. Stopped in for breakfast in our way back home and have discovered everything breakfast should be. The morning wrecker is superb. Layered with the best chicken fried steak I've ever had, hashbrowns, and two eggs stuffed inside a biscuit and covered in amazing sausage gravy. I am extremely glad this was our last stop in San Antonio. Miranda was a great server as well. Super friendly and very attentive. All in all, if you don't stop in here, you are doing yourself an extreme disservice.

Daaaaang, this place is good it was a slightly pricey breakfast than normal. It was worth it, though! This place was amazing. You have to try it!

It was our first trip and definitely not our last! The best combination of great food and great service! My wife and I split the motherclucker and I am glad we did! Its huge! It left us a little room for the Oreo cheesecake and OMG! I had to get an extra piece to go! And Miranda was so kind! She was on top of everything with a bright and shiny smile on her face! Worst customer service had to wait outside in the cold when we could clearly see there were empty tables for 2. Ordered FrenchToast and eggs. French toast was like toast bread.we were never asked if we wanted a refill on our coffee so disappointed

Wife loved her chicken and pancakes. My morning wrecker was huge and delicious. Can't wait to go back again.

Food is top tier but the service has really changed. I was given a gift card for bad service after our server was under the influence on drug usage an the owner sympathize she noticed too the same behavior so she was let go, so my 2nd visit i was sat immediately after a 6min wait outside, but after 25min of waiting alone i was still not served i had my back to the counter left of the register i turned back an asked a male server if he was my waiter he said no, i thought maybe perhaps that would make him ask to help but he didnt so i waited another 13 minutes so i had got up went to the register an the hostess asked how was my experience i told her i still hadnt been served. She right away said i cant believe it and i said this is my second visit for a previous bad service i encountered here. She served me herself a drink and asked me my order, after that a male server brought me my food an never came back so when i needed more orange juice, i swear i was just gonna get up to serve myself about this time, and honestly after waiting for my drink to continue eating was i was just out of patience it was not even busy there was 5 open tables around me but it was like no one wanted responsibility for my table. I just said forget this I went to the register told them my gift card was in the register and said it was another horrible experience the waitress or the hostess went to tell the owner, the owner Ana looked at me with no conversation or got up to address anything. They still use my gift card with no conversation about what I just went through so I just left I honestly wish I could eat there because I really enjoy the grits they make them like my Grandma used to in Georgia, but I can't go because it's such horrible service. This is my 4th visit this year, last time before this i recommended it to my colleagues an had an embarrassing service with our under the influence server and now this where the owner had no empathy but still charged me, she cared to charge me but not to address the service. I was forced to Not finish my breakfast, but was still charged for it.
At least get up an introduce yourself an render the problem she just didnt care to acknowledge it.
If your gonna address this again please reframe Ana from handling this again that clearly doesnt help. I get there isnt much you can do so i guess visting here will have to be taken with a grain of salt but before you reply back understand you have (14) one star reviews this YEAR on you're service experience and 4 primarily for Ana.)

I haven't been to Bobbie's Cafe in over 5yrs.
So I had to make up for lost time.
I ordered the Biggest chicken fried steak on the south side of Texas!
Crunchy buttery crust,
Smooth gravy & the most tender beef cutlet I have ever eaten. The most amazing
Loving staff I have ever met. Clean and safe in and through out this Cafe.

Make sure to bring a good appetite for this homemade good food. The staff is great. I visit as often as I can.

We arrived on a Sunday morning around 10: 30 am and had about a 20 minute wait. We came specifically for the biscuits and gravy, and both of us oreded the SOS Plater. The plate comes with eggs, potatoes, meat, and a large biscuit covered in sausage gravy. Each of us got a cup of coffee. Our meals came out as ordered, but the gravy was bland. When they say it's a sausage gravy, they mean they add sausage pieces to the gravy. The gravy would have been more flavorful if they had made the gravy with the sausage to get some of the sausage grease to add flavor. Our wait staff gave us plenty of attention filling our coffee cups up often.
Overall I was disappointed with the biscuit and gravy, the biscuit was more of a large buttered bread and the gravy was bland.
Our meals were $13 each and about $2.50 per coffee. I'll come again but will try something else for breakfast or try their lunch menu.

After all the hype for this place I was extremely disappointed with it. The chicken fried steak was all crust, very salty and the mashed potatoes were the exact opposite and very bland. But to be honest there was more gravy on my plate than actual food, It was drenched in it. Not very appealing when you actually want to taste your chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. The servers were nice and place was clean.

Love Bobbie's Cafe. Breakfast Silver Dollar plate gave me 3 small pancakes, two eggs, diced potatoes, and two slices of bacon. All of it was delicious. Lots of great choices to choose from also. The only thing not too crazy about is the wait. Had to wait about 30 min. Other than that, it's the best.

One of the best chicken fried steaks in town. I like the small cafe feel. Service is good. So many items on the menu to choose from that makes you want to go back
