BOXOCHOPS Modern African Kitchen reviews
16The food here is sooooo delicious, their service is amazing, the price of the food matches the quality of food your getting, definitely enjoyed everything I ordered from the menu, if you haven’t tried their goat meat kebab, give it try is so delicious! Can’t wait to try more items from the menu.
Showed up at 8: 20 on Friday night but the lady in circular glasses came out and said they were closed.
Boxochops provided appetizers for the cocktail hour of a Nigerian wedding. My interactions with Sheila as a a wedding planner was that she was kind, responsive and helpful with all of our communications. We had a seamless experience making sure we were all in sync with the wedding day timeline.
Sheila arrived early to set up, and created a beautiful display! She then came back as discussed during the scheduled time to clean up and remove her display items. The food she provided was delicious! The meat pies are a MUST HAVE. A wonderful balance of crust and filling, with a spicy kick. I highly recomment Boxochops for
Yum! Was in the Plano area and needed a quick bite. Boxochops is a great spot for authentic Nigerian bites and snacks. "small chops". Definitely check it out if you're in the area!
We've been wanting to try this place, so we ordered via Door Dash last night. We ordered the turkey wings, jollof rice, beef rolls, and samosas. This cuisine was a new experience for us and we quite liked it. We were surprised that the Door Dash turnaround time was 70 minutes. That seemed long, but that's how long it really took. We'll be ordering from here again, but will plan ahead and order earlier.
My husband and I loved the goodies! Being so far from motherland it’s always good to find some delicious comfort
Thiscwas my first time visiting this place. I Ordered jollof Rice, one with goat the other with beef. The rice was on point. The goat had more fat grissel, Where's the goat? I would never order the goat again. Maybe they need to add oxtail and chicken so at least you have meat or you know what to expect. Other than no meat, I would go there again. Love to support these places.
I’ve never had turkey legs this good before. Great level of spice, juices soak up so well in the rice. If it’s cold outside and you want something warm you can’t miss out on Boxochop!
I been ordering from here almost daily and the food has been great. Fatima has so helpful, caring and always with a smile. I will recommend here to everybody.
Been looking for decent African restaurant and just tried this for the first time. As excited as I was, the service coming in here was really bad. Stood there for a while with no attention and finally asked if I could order with her. Fatima, the order taker’s demeanor was very uninviting, with frowns like she was pissed to sell to me. I left a 20% tip regardless to show my support.
Unfortunate that most African establishments lack customer service. I’m definitely not coming back.
This place has been a constant place myself and my work colleagues pick up our lunch. Thanks to Fatima for always doing an amazing job with getting our orders correctly, well packaged and welcomes us with great smile.
This place is a must try. Truly one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. The snack box is the perfect introduction to the joys of Evelyn’s kitchen. Anytime there’s a stew with goat in it I’m down and never disappointed.
HOWEVER, today I ordered a side of the plantains and it was very very dry. Boxochops fam, please make sure your plantains are moist, fresh, ripe!
Like this place because they provide a variety of west African food. The place is always maintained and well kept. However, service does need a little work. We waited nearly 45-hour for a kiddie box and snack box. There was one other family that was waiting for longer. The hostess was kind, acknowledged guest and children, which was a kind gesture, but would disappear frequently to the back. One customer that came in was ringing the bell quite a few times, to get a workers attention.
Upon receiving the order, it was approaching past 40 minutes, but the hostess did apologize. The kiddie box recieved, $5.50, was well and complete, cold but complete. Had to retrieve own juice box. The snack box was a little disappointing, I only received 2 puff puff, two fish rolls, a kebab, and chinchin. For $9, it did not include the variety of a beef roll or spring roll. An additional fish roll or puff puff was okay…but not when you were expecting to receive 3 types of rolls, puff puff, and kebab. There was no mention of there being items missing or replaced…just handed a closed and stickered box.
This is not my first time visiting. The food is good, but nothing is guaranteed. The food received hasn’t been consistent. On the other hand, the stew with rice and plantains satisfied the taste buds. Took a while to receive, but at the time was worth it.
Previously, there were some items they didn’t have for the kiddie box, and the host was kind enough to inform us. Not only did he inform us, he asked if it was okay to substitute with what they had. This was quality customer service.
So visiting this establishment may be 50/50 in what you’re able to receive, in a timely manner. Food is nice, but there needs to be consistency or informing the guest they don’t have a certain item or need to accommodate. With some small improvements, this place would be amazing.
First timer! Had to write a review, first of all the service is excellent, I was being safe and ordered the meat pie 10/10 definitely recommend, wish I would have known about this spot sooner.
This place is INSANE. Sooooooooooo good. We got puffs (hot and sweet ones), samosas, chicken kabob, beef suya, Jolof rice, and a kiddie box. They literally DIDN’T miss. It took them almost 40 minutes to make it which is how it should be. The puffs were so spongy and filled with flavor, the suya was crazy spicy but so flavorful, chicken kabob was to die for, literally. I could have eaten 3 orders by myself. So impressed with this place, my family and I will absolutely be back!
