I had a lateral lumbar fusion L-4 and L-5 Dr Ahmed is an amazing surgeon, he did a great job. I’m still recovering but feeling pretty good. I would most certainly recommend him, thank you Dr Ahmed.

Dr. Ahmed & his whole staff have been amazing from the moment we walked in the door. He is hands down the best neurosurgeon! He is genuine & truly cares about his patients and their well-being.

I was referred here by my doctor for a spine injury, I didn’t even make it in the door as a new patient. I called to let them know I was running late due to the weather/traffic and zero visibility; yes I left with plenty of time to arrive. The front desk person I dealt with was completely disrespectful and when I called back to speak to the office or practice manager, I was hung up on 3 times. Just a note to the practice: if it’s so imperative the new patient packet is completed before the appointment, it’s your responsibility to make sure it’s sent to the patient. Also, if you see its not on file when you have a patient coming in, a phone call would be great. We as patients don’t run the practice, we are seeking care for potentially life changing and huge financial undertakings. I’ll make sure I share my experience with my referring doctor.

So far on the front end everyone gets 15 seconds to set the gauge for the experience the front office staff upbeat not fake they Also when no one was listening or watching interacted with each other just the same like family it's rare and it's refreshing I my world of extreme pain and inability to function or maintaining quality of life. I could just stay in the front and the pain seemed non-important for a brief moment! No wonder Dr (Narsiso) Gonzalez referred them for me!
Well there was a snag in that they could not get in contact with the law office for copies of MRI'S so great team had to take place. I called the law office and was happy to, because accountability on my part keeps me involved in the loop. After bridging the two offices together we have forward momentum and I rescheduled the initial intake appointment. One could view as a set back but sometimes two steps back propels you 10 steps forward. My case worker (law) is @ home on medical and she stated personally taking on my case from home not even officially at work. THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES DEDICATION faith restored let's see what happens! I like what I'm hearing now I need to like what I'm seeing!

I’m quite confident when I say Dr. Ahmed is the best neurosurgeon in San Antonio. I had a cyst that was compressing my trigeminal nerve which left me with unimaginable pain in my face for about a year. It started off as a toothache and after ruling out any dental issues, my PCP said it was trigeminal neuralgia and referred me to BSISA. Cause was unknown for a while because I couldn’t get a MRI with contrast since I was pregnant. Anyway, fast forward to when I finally made it to Brain and Spine Institute and my experience with everyone from day one was just so amazing. Every single person in that office is professional, friendly, and helpful. I met Dr. Ahmed in my first visit and immediately, his presence makes you feel like you’re in great hands. I’ve also had appointments with NP Garza and PA Witkowski, both great experiences as well. Every provider really took their time to explain my situation and was ready to answer any questions I had.
I was told that I would need to have two surgeries from two different angles to ensure that the entire cyst was removed. After waking up from my first surgery I was told that Dr. Ahmed successfully removed the entire cyst and I wouldn’t need the second surgery. Seriously, amazing. Godsend. Not that the surgery experience was bad or anything but to not have to have brain surgery twice in two weeks because your surgeon did such an amazing job the first time is a blessing. To really stress how brilliant of a surgeon he is, Dr. Ahmed removed a massive cyst that had entangled itself around a bunch of my cranial nerves, cutting parts of it away while carefully navigating through tissue and nerves the size of a strand of hair all while disrupting none of it…let that sink in. During my recovery I had to do physical therapy and the PT working with me was telling me how ever since Dr. Ahmed started working at Methodist, all brain or spine surgery patients recovered so well and so quickly compared to before (he tells me this because he was amazed that I was walking the day after surgery - up and down the stairs, too, mind you).

I truly cannot praise Dr. Ahmed and BSISA enough. It’s true that we take the little things for granted. For a year I was unable to talk, eat, drink, swallow, brush my teeth, smile, basically anything that involved the lower half of my face. Thanks to Dr. Ahmed and his team, I can finally do all those things again and everyday I am grateful to them.

From the time I was referred until leaving this post it has been a great experience considering what happened to my spine! The staff set it all up for Dr. Ahmed to allow a nice appointment.

Dr. Ahmed did a wonderful job on my back surgery. You can’t see a scar. I’m fully back up and moving again. No more numbness or shooting pain in my leg. I am very happy with him and his team. I highly recommend SA Brain and Spine!

Last summer, I was referred to Dr. Ahmed by my PT/Rehab doctor after a car accident and dealing with endless attempts to heal my pain I was experiencing. Deep down I knew it was a herniated disc and I needed surgery. I got an appointment with Dr. Ahmed the same week and was met with such kindness and gentleness from everyone in the office. Dr. Ahmed came in and expressed his concerns, answered all my questions, gave me all my options, and let me know the course of action every time I came into the office. He was so reassuring and calm but confident. You can tell he is the best of the best in what he does! After going through all the tests, treatments/management and diagnostics, we finally discussed surgery. The NP (NP Antoinette) that I saw when it came to the surgery discussion was like the female version of Dr. Ahmed. So sweet, spent an hour discussing the surgery and answering all my questions and calming my nervousness. She encouraged me to go home and do research for a week or so on the surgery to ensure that I had all the information possible and felt confident in my decision to move forward. The surgery process was smooth and quick also. Again, Dr. Ahmed and his team were diligent, caring, and confident the whole time. Their bed side manner is always unmatched. At 27, I never thought I would be able to say I got neck surgery from a herniated disc but the recovery has been so seamless! I am now about 3 and 1/2 almost 4 months post op and all my pain is completely gone! Other than muscle soreness, which they explained can take quite a while to tame, especially for chronic injuries that have lasted as long as mine has, I am 100% back to normal. I feel like a 27 year old again! 4 days after the surgery, I could already feel a difference. I was so emotional and happy that I was no longer in constant, sometimes unbearable pain and so so grateful for Dr. Ahmed and all the staff that I had been helped by! They are still doing their due diligence by occasional post-op rechecks every few months but I will forever recommend everyone to their office! They are thorough, kind, confident, and passionate about what they do! Thank you so so much to everyone there! Y'all are absolutely amazing and so refreshing to be in the care of a doctor and medical team who truly care about their patients and the best for them!

What can I say…. I’m so happy that ER doctor sent me to Br as in and Spine institute. I needed surgery from my L1 to L5 and S1 with rods and screws. My surgery was June 28,2023. It is now July 26,2023. I am getting better day by day. If anyone needs Brain or Spine surgery, I will very quickly write Brain and Spine institute with address, phone number and even directions. Dr. Ahmed has hands of gold. Thank you for fixing my back that I kept putting off. Oh… let’s not forget the staff. Thank you all so much.

I had surgery to repair my L5-S1 herniated disc on 6/19/23. Everything went really well and I’m so glad I found Dr Ahmed through searching online and through patient reviews. I was very nervous right before surgery but when he came to see me right before they took me back into the surgery room, I felt relieved and in very good hands. The surgery went great and I’m recovering at a good pace. I can finally feel my right leg and foot again after months of nerve problems related to my herniated disc. My sciatic leg pain is completely gone now too. If you’re looking for a new doctor or hesitating to have surgery please consider going to Dr Ahmed. You won’t regret it. His staff is also very nice, professional and very welcoming. NP Garza is so nice and so knowledgeable too! Great experience.

Dr Ahmed performed SCS implant surgery on me and I was very pleased with the outcome. He is one of the few Drs I have dealt with that actually listens to his patients. I would recommend him to anyone needing spinal surgery.

I’ve been in severe low back pain for several years, Dr. Ahmed did a laminectomy on my lower back and his hands are definitely gold. It’s been a week and a half and I feel great, haven’t felt this great in a long time. I highly recommend Dr. Ahmed. He explained my procedure very well. Dr Ahmed and his team are amazing. In my neck, I needed a fusion and two disks replaced. Preparation, surgery, and post operative care has been above reproach.

I was able to get in asap to see Dr. Ahmed for my sciatica nerve pain. The staff was very nice and I was greeted with smiles. When I went for my two week appointment after the first surgery, I was still having pain in the back of my left leg. I was sent to have another MRI which confirmed what Dr. Ahmed had told me so I was scheduled for a second surgery ASAP. He explained what he was going to do the first and second time and he reassured me that he would fix the problem. After the second surgery I have no pain and I’m able to walk and sit without hurting. Thanks Dr. Ahmed and staff. I’ll definitely refer my friends and family to him.
