Brooklyn Breakfast Shop reviews
20This place is great! Passed by this morning and picked up their breakfast special: a breakfast sandwich made out of two maple pancakes, sausage, egg and cheese. Let me tell you… it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had. It’s a definite must-try!
At Thicket Park, this breakfast spot is a stand out! My partner got an everything bagel sandwich and I got the new grits bowl special. The bagels were fluffy and delicious! The grits bowl and sausage exceeded my expectations. Will definitely be going back for me!
Really upset, they gave us a bland tasting sandwich (had no seasoning at all) bun was soaked at the bottom. It became soggy in a matter of 2 minutes. There were half of the ingredients missing on the sandwich. This was $16 sandwich with taxes + tips.
I don’t understand the high ratings for this place…my hash bowl was just big chunks of boiled potatoes with zero seasoning. The entire bowl lacked seasoning, and the bacon just tasted like oil. My husband had the Szechuan chicken sandwich, and once again, zero seasoning. We were both thoroughly confused…and super bummed.
This family is pumping love out of that kitchen. OMG. Homemade biscuits, bagels, and English muffins. The biscuits taste like Grandma is in the oven, protecting the recipe. We felt right at home. Also, the take on Philly cheesesteak using barbacoa was a culinary genius.
This has to be one of the best breakfasts in Austin. Everything is made fresh and I love their French toast specials. It's a great place to sit and relax while eating some top notch food.
Finally got to try the bagels, they usually sell out within the first hour or so of opening. They were already sold out of everything, so tried the sesame with charred scallion cream cheese. They were generous with the sesame seeds on top and had a good amount of cream cheese. I am from Jersey, so I do have fairly high expectations for bagels. The bagels were somewhat flat, and didn’t have that signature crispy outside with a fluffy, chewy interior. The chew was good, but I miss the crisp and the fluffiness. I’ve also previously had one of their breakfast bowls. The potatoes were boiled, they have no crispiness to them, as one would expect from a hash bowl. The bowl overall was also lacking in flavor, it definitely needed more seasoning.
If I were to offer any advice to this business, it would be:
- make more bagels, and work on the texture
- make more of the bagels that are the most popular (everything for sure)
- if you’re going to make breakfast hash bowls, make sure the potatoes are crispy and everything is really well seasoned
- pare down the menu and really perfect the items you have
Definitely check out the area and show small businesses some love, I hope to see BBS improve in the future
This place is a total joke. I went with my out of town friend since its very close to my homeband let me just say, its not worrh a penny. Later i founs out they started a fund to stay open. I can see why! Sobwe got 2 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches that took forever to come out and the eggs werent seasoned at all. Spent 26 bucks on 2 horrid sandwiches. Couldve gotten a bunch of breakfast tacos and a coffee instead. You live and you learn!
Overpriced, slow service, pretentious and gross. Went back cus my friend wanted to try it and it’s still the same instagram vs reality experience.
First time coming here and I was sad to be disappointed. The potatoes were really under cooked and hard. My fried chicken sandwich was barely breaded and it was super soggy to eat.
Tried due to the good reviews.unfortunately it didn't live up the hype. Breakfast sandwich was disappointing, service was rude. Far from being a NY bagel sandwich. Won't be back.
Had the Julian today plus ordered a sesame bagel for later. The Julian sounded fabulous. Wanted to love it. However, the fried chicken, though fried nicely had no taste. No salt, seasoning. And they must have run out of apple butter because I barely tasted it. I really wanted to love it but didn’t. The pictures look so good. Now the star was really the bagel I bought. Soooo good. Should have bought more.
It literally does not get any better. Been coming here for years and never had anything short of perfection. The food is creative, fresh, and thoughtful.
Some of the best bagels in Austin. You have to try this place out, everything on their menu is high quality and delicious. Get the bagel sandwich! Great stuff!
Absolutely amazing breakfast! Super personable service and amazing spot to eat. Definitely made my morning.
The black pepper and Parmesan bagel is by far the best bagel I have ever had. I highly recommend the bacon breakfast sandwich or the Jessica hash bowl. Both are perfection!
Top tier chicken sandwiches! Busineas hours can be a little weird but this place is worth it! Sandwiches are a little messy but the flavor is all worth the extra napkins and shirt stains
Management is terrible every time I have tried eating here and the food is almost never decent. I have had catering done and plates were missing from what was ordered, and staff always looks over worked in the heat conditions. Take your business literally anywhere else.
Note: Never do business with an entrepreneur that replies to their customers with “ I’m sorry you feel that way” when giving feedback on their poor customer service and lack of good food. Good business owners take accountability for their wrongs and make it right somehow. Hopefully you’ll learn something if you watch Gordon Ramsay or maybe he should pay you a visit.
The sweet heat sauce alone is a reason to check out this spot. Their breakfast bowls are my favorite and are a nice change up from my typical breakfast. The owners/staff are great and Thicket is one of my favorite food spots in south Austin. Highly recommend!
We all enjoyed our brunch! The fried chicken on my sandwich was so good! Crunchy and juicy. The sandwich looked huge but it ate pretty light. Messy and delicious. Got the Stephanie (the sandwich of the month) Also was able to snag a bagel to go to enjoy later in the week
Part of a really nice food truck park. The pine trees were nice and brought great shade. Lots of seating and lots of food truck options. Not all open at the same time but nice selection!
