Wanted to really love this place as I did my first tan with Samantha for my engagement session. Per the reviews, I went ahead and booked my bridal tan with Ashley (over a week prior to), mostly because she seemed to have the most reviews from brides. I showed up for my appointment and was told Ashley was under the weather and if I was okay with someone else and I agreed and said I was fine as long as they assured me it'd be good since it was for my wedding day! Needless to say, my tan peeled on my chest the day after and was not even throughout my body. I did follow all prep steps and even paid for the prep spray and this did not happen when I was sprayed by Samantha. My wedding dress was backless and the uneven tan was noticeable so now my photos will reflect this poor job. I wasn't going to post a review but since I reached out directly about a week ago and still no response, I decided to. Very frustrating and only giving 2 stars mostly because my first tan with Samantha was by far closer to what I was looking for!

I have never had a spray tan before but was wanting one for family pictures. Samantha did my spray tan and was very professional and helpful. The process was super quick and easy. I did the color 1 tan which is the lightest but it looks very natural and I definitely plan on coming back in the future. I also like how they offer a student/teacher discount.

I recently did a trial for my wedding and got a airbrush tan and was thoroughly surprised with how great it turned out! The quality and color are amazing! Very natural color all over and was so thankful it didn’t have that “fake tan” smell or stickiness once done. I am very impressed and extremely happy with my service! I will be back to get another before my wedding! Can’t wait!

I haven't spray tanned in quite a while, but needed one before my son's wedding. Ashley was wonderful about answering my questions, and very kind and professional in doing the spray tan itself. Her advice was right on target about what I needed. I will definitely visit again.

I have not gotten a spray tan in over 3 years, but I wanted a trial done before my wedding day because a tan can go super well, or super awful. Samantha was so sweet and helpful through the whole process, and my tan looked so natural and beautiful! I will always stick with Buttercup Tans!

I have now been to Celeste in the Heights location twice. I was super nervous about getting a spray tan, but she made it so easy and comfortable! My tan has come out looking amazing both times and hasn’t looked orange or fake either time! I actually have an appointment for another one tonight! Celeste is awesome!

I’ve been coming to buttercup tan since 2014 and Ashley is amazing! I haven’t been anywhere else - the color is perfect and the tan lasts a true 7 days at least. Recently because of time scheduling I’ve been seeing Lauren this summer and I have to say she is just as amazing! I’ve been to her three times this summer and each time she’s nailed it! Not a single smudge or oversight and she has just been a great addition to the team! Highly highly recommend this duo!

Ashley is so sweet and make a person like me who feels super insecure about their body feel like a million bucks! I have recommended SO many of my friends and have had no one complain! Highly recommend going to buttercup tans!

I went to the Cypress location and Lauren was so nice! I was a little worried about getting it done because ive had bad spray tan experiences in the past, but she put me at ease and answered all of my questions. She’s definitely good at her job! I got a spray tan for my cruise and LOVED it! I was in and out of the ocean, pools and hot tubs and it never got streaky! When it did fade (after about 8 or 9 days) it faded evenly and slowly. It took about 11 days or so until I was back to my pre-spray tan color. Will definitely be going back!

Ashley is freaking amazing! She puts in such a great level of detail to everything she does. She really spent the time to make sure the tan was completely even and covered. I couldn't find any streaks at all! I've had issues at other places around the hand area but with Ashley it was honestly perfect. The color was spot on to what I wanted. Other places don't spend the time to even powder you afterwards but she covered me from head to toe to make sure it stays as dry as possible to avoid streaking from sweating. She just so sweet and warm which made me feel completely comfortable. I will definitely be back and will be a customer for life.

Saw a post about this place on Instagram and decided to swipe up and try it. I love my spray tan, I’m shocked I don’t smell and my tan isn’t orange. I’m serious! ;) Also very cute little location (I went to Cypress, TX location). Super easy and fast!

I just had a baby and it was a relief to know that her organic spray tan ingredients would not harm my baby. I got the medium tan and it was perfect. It did not look that nasty orange and helped give me confidence since I am not back to my normal pre baby body.

So I originally wrote a review stating that after my tan developed I had a large very dark/ orange mark on my arm from the brush the tech used to blend in the tan. I spoke with the owner and she refunded my money and offered me a free tan (which I will not be taking her up on). After our conversation she asked me to remove my bad review. I didn’t rly want to but the matter was resolved and she appoligized so I did.
I’m rewriting my review because as my tan has started to fade (hasn’t even been a week since I got sprayed) it is soo splotchy! I have used many self tanners and gone to the machines and have NEVER had this happen. I would like to add I have done everything they said to do from how your skin should be before the tan and taken care of after.
I was so exciting to try ButterCup tan seeing how they are rating “Houston’s best”, but I will NOT get a tan from them again.
