Cajun Restaurant Calliope's reviews
17The fried shrimp poboy was excellent, especially with the remoulade sauce added. The fries were pretty good. The grilled shrimp in the Cajun shrimp salad tasted okay but were definitely overcooked and too firm. The lemon pepper wings had no lemon pepper flavor; they are fried and tasted like the kind you get from Chinese restaurants. Which is okay if that’s what you’re expecting but was disappointing considering I thought they’d be lemon pepper flavor and wet. Will stick to poboys in the future.
The grilled shrimp po'boy was really good. The seafood gumbo was good, but not perfect. I'd go back.
My partner brings me the suicide shrimp box whenever I visit Houston and it never disappoints. I miss it everytime I'm back home in Canada!
I came for the my husband an I went out for dinner this Saturday an asked for peeled boiled shrimp and sausage corn and egg get home shrimp not peeled or or easy peeled I called them back explain the problem they said can I eat that an come back for a discount why would I go back an they didn’t listen the 1st time I placed my order an didn’t care to right their wrong I see why it was empty when I went there it use to be full of customers
Ordered gumbo to go.while eating found a HAIR (fair colors) hair.
Called the restaurant to credit the bill backto my account. NO!
He gave me 2 choice bring back the container to replace it.of get 15% Discount next time.
A- I would not eat there again yaak.
B- I am not going to order another gumbo or any other food dished.

If you want a true New Orleans Poboy coke here! They never disappoint. Poboys always hot, bread is always fresh. Love this place. This time I got a surf and turf (shrimp and roast beef) perfection!
Just ran into this place and not with my car. It freaking surprised me, it was so delicious, clean place, Cajun, quiet, small. Cajun indeed. I think this place is a gem. Barely noticeable. Try this place out, creole cooking.
Tasty and filling shrimp sandwich (split it with hubby). It's made with real french bread! The crayfish pie was very good.like an empanada. Hubby enjoyed a small gumbo and redbeans and rice. I thought the beans could use more spices/ fat.something. There is a lot of high barstool seating and 5-6 regular tables and chairs. No arms, so they were comfortable. I would like to try more items
First the customer service was amazing I came here long time back I don’t know how it was then but this time the lady in the front helped me out and told me which ones are good. I got the shrimp fried rice but this one was different it came with egg potatoes on the side with flavored shrimp on the top with shrimp fried rice it was so good. Make sure you get extra butter sauce and mix with fried rice it’s a game changer and I loved it!
PoBoys are 9/10
Long Island are 10/10
Boil Shrimp needs season & Stemmed Veggies were bland
Good things don’t last long. It saddens me to take this place off of my list of go to’s when I’m in the area. But unfortunately the last few times I had the food, it was disgusting. I can
no longer eat here.
Boudin balls were just ok and a little overcooked also had a shrimp po boy and the bread was extra hard and shrimp was barely seasoned
They are very attentive and clean area throughout the place and outside. Food was amazing taste great and packaged to go neat and clean. Price is perfect for lunch specials and more.
This place is a true hidden gem. Food is delicious, always hot and consistent quality over the many times I've been. I especially love their poboys and wings. Staff are incredibly kind and helpful. And the atmosphere is so fun, especially at night, it feels very cool to be inside, like an old downtown bar in New Orleans. Even the drinks in the fountain taste better here than other places. Only slight downsides is the pricepoint can be a bit high, but for the amount of food and quality, I feel like this is an earned case. It is also a bit small, so take care with very large parties dining in. But other than that, you absolutely can't go wrong. Calliopes is some of the best I've had!
