Candlewood Suites Georgetown, an IHG Hotel reviews
19Good location. Pet friendly for $75 pet fee. Room was clean and well appointed. No breakfast service.
I had the opportunity to come to the Candlewood Suites Georgetown at the time the ATX region was experiencing inclement weather “ICEStorm 2023” Rating this hotel from the surface, a Solid 8 out 10 which is decent standards in my book. The hotel Staff at front Desk a Solid 9. So yes on a Great place to lay your head down and recharge your body!
Booked for two nights (unrefundable) and left after one night and went elsewhere. Nice lobby & exterior but room not so much. Also when we booked we booked it with a dog for $20 extra per night. When we arrived they added an additional non_refundable $75 for the dog. Clerk just shrugged. When we checked out after one night the clerk couldn't have cared less. Over $500 for one night for bugs, one random tv channel and a very worn room. Now I know why they only book non_refundable. Very crooked booking. Never ever again with Candlewood.
The front desk employee is friendly, and there are no complaints about that. The rooms are a bit run down.i can pass that, but when i go into the bathroom, the first thing i see is hair and not sure if water or bodily fluids are on the ground, super tired if not i would ask for an other room.
Trouble at the very beginning of the stay when they tried to process / run my employer travel credit card in a way no other hotel I’ve stayed at ever has. Declined three times in a row. Called the credit card customer service and they stated card was fine and couldn’t even see this hotel trying to charge it. Card has worked everywhere I’ve used it except THIS hotel because they didn’t know how to charge it. The Holiday Inn midtown in Austin charged my travel card just fine at the beginning of this month. The Best Western Post Oak Inn in Burnet charged this card just fine last week. When I bought dinner tonight card worked just fine. Only the employees at this one hotel can’t figure it out. Now the expense of this stay is tying up the credit on one of my personal credit cards until I get reimbursed. Not thrilled. Will definitely be staying somewhere else next time I have to be in this area. Every meal / purchase I’ve made with my work travel card has worked - except here. And mid-shower tonight, 11/02, the hot water stopped working so now we go down to one star. This morning the cable in my room didn’t work. Would give zero stars at this point if possible. Update - evening of 11/03 - hot water ran out / turned cold during my shower again tonight. Can’t call the front desk because neither of the two phones in the room work. Would give -1 star if possible. Seriously you’re better off sleeping in your car and using truck stop showers before staying here. Worst hotel stay ever.
Friendly and helpful staff. Older hotel but they're doing some upgrades. Room was clean and had everything needed for a longer stay. Mattress was a little uncomfortable and lumpy. Wifi was adequate.
We had a horrible stay at the Candlewood Suites Georgetown. I ended up stressed out and terrified because of the service. The management was not cooperative, lacking managerial skills and downright rude, beware. The sink in the bathroom collapsed on the third day of our stay so we were placed in a more expensive room (which we didn't ask for) and were charged the difference! They refused us into our room and we were stuck in the lobby for more than two hours after the entire day in the hot summer sun, because they wanted us to sign a form and threatened us with the Police! In addition, the entry card was always a problem, the place lacks in cleanliness and smells unpleasantly. I regret staying there and would think twice staying in any hotel of IHG Group again.
Stayed for two nights. Room was not very clean. The room was run down and not nice. Everything looked really old. There was a chair in the room and the vinly was peeling off the chair. The hotel smelled like dog. For the price I paid it was not acceptable. I would not pay more then $60-$70 a night for these rooms.
We stayed 3 nights here. I'd call this a 1 star Hotel vs a 2 star. This was very sub par for an IHG hotel. The hotel and room was dingy and musty. Not that we expected much, but it was quite awful. About the only silver lining was having a larger fridge.
Nice staff but extremely low water pressure and slow shower drain. Both times I’ve stayed here…
Take the review seriously and stay somewhere else. The rate fluctuates without further notice, this property overbooks frequently. Property is not a true IHG property, just another franchise. Make sure you have a room here, you would need to be on the General Managers personal cell phone. Usually Sheree will be at the front desk calling/texting her tenants, even if they're working, until they answer and advise them to say yes and take another credit card authorization or else. I travel often and meet a lot of people, but the GM is the most cumbersome individual you will encounter. Fraternizing is GREAT, but fraternizing and not seeing the bigger picture in the hospitality field is hindering. Staff is far from cohesive standards, everything goes through the GM with that said do not take out frustrations on any of the staff. They are only doing what they are told. This is a common practice amongst franchise standards. With that said, if you plan to not show up, cancel your reservations with IHG directly, as even IHG rewards is aware of the ludicrous actions of the manager. If you plan to get your money back call the customer service line first. You will find yourself calling a few times too many before anyone answers or not at all within the hotel or on the way to the hotel. Rooms are dated, things like the couch are falling apart, bathroom is falling apart, cheap irons supplied will burn your clothes, wi-fi will not work as they have too many wi-fi passwords, dishes are old and the carpets are dirty, it is not a housekeeping issue the property does not supply staff with equipment for these tasks, same goes for maintenance the craftsmanship is only what is provided to them and the washer/dryers also have issues. Just have a plan B and look around and see what I mean, you can ask to have a tour. Apparently this is a replacement of another property that was shut down not too far from this one and now being rebuilt as a shelter for the homeless. Customer service goes a long way, if you're just looking to crash.okay, book it cheap and don't get scammed.
Really hard bed. No breakfast service. The rooms need an upgrade with furniture and fixtures. The staff was very friendly and helpful but overall not a good value for the price.
The stay was horrible. These people told me lies from the beginning. They said there was no pet fee and then charged me $150 for one night. Avoid these swindlers at all cost.
It was some what clean. My tub was full of the previous guest’s hair. No ice machine and sketchy people lurking around.
The staff is very friendly! The bathroom & kitchen seemed clean. There were a few concerns & quirks we had about our stay.
*The room was fine. It was nice having a fridge & dishwasher -especially since we had a newborn with us. BUT.the room was in need of major updates! The bed was lumpy, bumpy, several springs broken-needed to be replaced a LONG time ago. Went and bought an air mattress because my back was hurting so bad. **THE RECLINER- it was disgusting! The pleather was peeling from arms, seat, back. It looked like it came out of a frat house. We covered it with one of the blankets. **The Desk Chair- the fabric cover was filthy, lots of "stains". **The mirror and desk had veneer peeling off. All of this just gave the room a "cheap motel" vibe.
**We had no housekeeping at all. In order to get fresh towels you had to take them to the front desk to exchange. We took all of ours after a few days & they asked "what do you NEED". Didn't replace all of them. **Didn't know what to do with our trash- so it built up all week.
Charges- after we checked out we just happen to glance at the final bill. We were charged for a "pet fee" of $20.00 everyday we were there. We had NO pets-only a 6 week old baby! I checked our initial confirmation and checked -there was no mention of pets. When we brought it up to the front desk attention she put in a refund for $140.00 (still pending refund- room was charged)
I had a great stay here. The staff was extremely friendly and professional, they all knew what they were doing. The rooms were clean and had everything you need for an extended stay from dishes to stove top. Thank you for making my temporary home comfortable!
The staff members are friendly and helpful. The room was fully stocked and pristine. The parking lot is well lit. This is a nice place to stay.
A very nice place to stay, I highly recommend it. It would be nice if they served a hot breakfast but they don't. The rooms come with a complete kitchen and fully stocked full size refrigerator.
Very clean, comfortable, dinnerware, utensils, pots, pans provided and a full size refrigerator. Free use of washers and dryers. Hotel has small store with snacks, etc. Front desk personnel are wonderful! So helpful and kind. Great location. The maid service is once per week - and they do a great job. Outside of hotel is well lit and nicely maintained. Recommend this hotel suites highly and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
