Capital Area Speech & Occupational Therapy reviews
20 1. Stacey Rosensteel was great. I am a senior adult with vocal cord issues. Checked in with me before sessions to be best prepared for our time. I paid privately because her expertise was evident when we talked before the evaluation. I continued therapy for a couple of months and she gave me lots of exercises that I could do at home. I would recommend her for anyone- child to adult!
2. Getting to this review site took perseverance - about 6 steps to make the Google version plus verification work. But I really wanted to leave the positive review!
We are so grateful to have found Capital Area Speech and Occupational Therapy. Julia has been so wonderful for our son and the progress he has made in a year is simply amazing. Whenever I think back to where he was during his first evaluation to where he is today, it brings tears to my eyes. We cannot thank Julia enough for her incredible patience and the connection she has established with our son. We completely trust her and our son genuinely loves her and looks forward to his sessions, and without that, I don't know that he would be as successful as he has been. We also recently started occupational therapy and our son absolutely loves working with Ann. I would 100% recommend CASOT to others.
We have been going for a little over 6 months now and have seen wonderful progress with our son! Stacey has been incredibly patient and kind and isn’t afraid to scoop him up when he’s having a wild tantrum on the floor. She covers everything they worked on in class and even gives key phrases to focus on each week. Our son loves going and seeing Mrs Stacey and we love her too! We are very grateful for the progress we have seen and extended family has noticed too. Been such a blessing!
Words cannot express my gratitude that I have for the CASOT team. I had the opportunity this fall to be a SLP intern at the clinic and they were always so supportive at any time I had a question or if I need to observe or to assist a patient. The Capital’s OTs and SLPs have so much love and passion for what they do. I worked with Mrs Yvonne and she is an amazing person and professional. I am so grateful that she shared all her experience and constructive feedbacks with me. They truly strive to reach their best goal to help their patients. They will use all the evidence based practice to treat their patients. Also, they don’t have just the knowledge, but also kindness and compassion towards their patients and families/caregivers. Your children are definitely in good hands here.
Julia has been an excellent therapist. She is very professional and is really good with kids. My son loves going to speech and loves working with Julia.
We love Ms. Ellen here. She worked really hard to help my child with multiple issues. She is very patient yet persistent in her approach to meet goals for my child!
I had the wonderful opportunity to be an occupational therapy student intern at CASOT for the past 3 months, and am so grateful for the learning experience. From a student perspective, the therapists at CASOT were very patient and compassionate, giving me the resources and support I needed to succeed. Overall, it's an excellent pediatric outpatient clinic, and all the staff and therapists are caring, knowledgeable, experienced, and dedicated to doing the best for their clients and families!
I had the pleasure of spending 8 months with Capital Area Speech & Occupational Therapy as a speech pathology graduate student intern. I consider myself very lucky to have learned from the knowledgeable, caring, and dedicated SLPs there. I was able to witness tremendous progress with a variety of kiddos/diagnoses. They go above and beyond to provide support and education to families. Each session is fun, motivating, and individualized to fit a number of different patient needs. As an intern, the entire staff was always welcoming and rooting for me to succeed. I could go on for hours about how much I love this clinic and the people there! I highly recommend their speech and occupational therapy services. I also encourage other graduate students needing a meaningful, supportive, and challenging, clinic experience to reach out!
We are so incredibly thankful we found Capital Area Speech & Occupational Therapy. Stacey Rosensteel is a genuine person and we were able to see speech results with our son immediately! We were able to have in home visits that made it comfortable for our son and us. Five stars all the way! Thanks Stacey!
Caring, professional, and effective. Over the course of several years, our therapists achieved fantastic results, helping my child develop skills to listen and communicate effectively in school and in life. Progress was regularly assessed and communicated. The scheduling was flexible and they were able to travel to my child's school so that he could receive services as part of his regular school day. The therapists also regularly communicated with my child's language arts teachers in order to align therapy with school curriculum and classroom assignments. Could not recommend more highly.
After I quit my teaching job following major surgery and spent the past five years working from home, my hoarse voice (which was usually caused by seasonal allergies) became more persistent and noticeable. I thought my vocal cords had been damaged, bit the had only weakened from limited use. Julia helped me find my voice again by teaching me to breathe properly (Pre-surgery, I had modified my breathing to avoid the abdominal discomfort caused by my illness) and showing me vocal exercises that used the power of my diaphragm instead of my vocal cords. By explaining how voice was produced, Julia gave me the tools I needed to understand the physiology so I could literally feel the difference from how I used to speak. Not only was she patient when I had setbacks, but she also treated me as an equal partner in my treatment. I highly recommend her for adult and pediatric speech therapy.
Initially, we loved this place. My son still does. His therapists have been great.
However, the billing office is horrific. Many parents are being threatened with large bills or being kicked out because they cannot file paperwork correctly with insurance.
If you want headaches, this is the place for you. If you want smooth sailing, keep on searching elsewhere
Absolutely loved working with Julia at Capital Area Speech - my son was ALWAYS so excited to work with her, and she was always patient, courteous, and communicated very clearly about my son's progress and how we could help him at home!
We had an excellent experience with Capital Area Speech. It was easy to get an appointment for evaluation. Our therapist, Michele Reeder, has been so wonderful with our son. He was initially very shy, but Michele got him to engage with her, and he made incredible progress in a short amount of time. Michele also gave us great resources to use to practice at home. Michele is very experienced, really cares about her patients, and wants to see her patients succeed. Highly recommend Capital Area Speech and very grateful to have worked with Michele!
We have started going here in August 2021 and so far our speech therapy journey has been enjoyable and well! I am glad that we were assigned to Lindsey because she is just great with kids and I appreciate that she gives me tips on how we can follow through at home. More than 5 months in and we have seen major improvements already. My 5yo loves her too! I know they are a very busy clinic but we are thankful to have been able to secure a spot.
I had a great experience with capital area speech pathology!
Julia Tomlinson was both knowledgeable and empathetic- exactly the kind of person you would want as your SLP. She helped immensely in improving the strength and volume of my voice after one of my vocal cords was paralyzed during surgery. This largely involved diaphragmatic breathing techniques and improving vocal posture. Vocal improvement from speech pathology was clear both before and after getting a vocal fold injection from my ENT and today I’d say I’ve regained 90%+ of my voice even with only one functioning vocal cord.
Julia was awesome! Julia was always patient, friendly and very knowledgeable. After every session I always walked away with new techniques to help me communicate clearly and confidently. Julia thank you for being very easy to talk to and giving me the tools and confidence to communicate effectively! If you have the pleasure of working with Julia, know that you are in great hands!
My son has been attending since he was 18-months old. He is now two and he has grown a lot. He speaks 100+ words and learns new words everyday. He sees Michele R.and she has done a wonderful job in engaging him to speak. She also focuses on him understanding words and following directions. She has a fun way of work and play, which I have done at home as well. I highly recommend Capital Area Speech and Michele R.
I recently spent a few months working on vocal therapy with Julia for vocal nodules. I am a singer and a music teacher and had a lot of anxiety about teaching while also trying to rest and recover from vocal damage. Julia is extremely knowledgeable and patient and gave me the right tools and goals to ensure a speedy recovery. After following her advice to a “t” I am happy to say my vocal nodules are now gone! With her guidance I now have the tools and knowledge to ensure that I keep my voice happy and healthy!
I can not praise this place enough! I had a 2.5 yo with delayed speech. When we started therapy she was not saying mom or dad or even no. We had the privilege of working with Ms Julia. We started with about 3 times a week and dwindled to 1 30 min session a week. Ms Julia has the patience of a saint! Working with a 3 yo there were times all my lo wanted to do was cry but she was able to still squeak out a good session. She even collaborate with her other therapists to make sure my lo was getting the best service during their time together! I was always informed of the goals and we celebrated together as my lo mastered each one. After a year and half of sessions my lo is speaking in complete sentences! So blessed to have worked with such a great therapist and person. Thank you so much
