Casulo Hotel, Austin TX

We stayed at this location about 5 years ago, so we booked on the website without checking Yelp. Lesson learned. The photos on the website are NOT an indication of the state of disrepair this hotel has fallen into. The room was filthy, the entire place stank of cigarette smoke, there was no hair dryer because it was ripped off the wall. There was supposed to be a screen that you could draw to have privacy while using the restroom, but that was torn out as well. There was one working lamp in the room, as the lights on the ceiling were ripped out. There was no working smoke detector, blood stains on the curtains, and carpet that didn't stick to the floor. When I left at 6: 30am the smell of marijuana was so strong I'm surprised I didn't smell it through the door.

I will never stay here again, and I could not in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. The photos on the website are extremely misleading.

Absolutely horrific experience.
My boyfriend and I made a reservation for this evening over a month ago and they sent the receipt.they also printed a receipt directly saying Room Paid on <date> when we were at the counter-which they literally snatched away from my boyfriend when we tried to keep it to prove they'd approved the payment.but that's later.
Anyway, they told us that they hadn't paid the room for us-simply reserved it.and that we would have to pay them AGAIN.
. I am a mother of four. We are broke. We'd spent months saving up for this room.
I tried to speak to the manager, Daniel, but he had apparently "just left. "
I asked to speak to Sam, the owner.they amended their statement from "Oh, the manager just left" to "oh, the owner and manager usually leave early in the day". Though, I've booked at Casulo before and spoken to Sam around dusk.

Suffice to say, I will not be booking here again. Which is heartbreaking because I often suggest it to friends and family and the other people in the beauty industry that come to town (the rooms are artistic).
I'm sad to take this much business away from what should be an Austin gem.but the service is just too awful for words.

Don't go there! They kicked us out of the room for no reason and one of the house keepers stole my engagement ring.

The rooms are great ESPECIALLY the bathrooms, and for what you get the price is amazing. However with the pool currently out of commission there are not amenities outside of a small gym and vending machines.

Roach-infested, slime on the windows and walls, smoke smell, dirty rooms with chipped paint and worn down appliances.the front desk people were helpful with other side requests

update: might have potentially given me bed bugs.waiting on an inspector to look at my current home

When we arrived to our room it looked like a crime scene! Seriously they could have filmed a horror movie there.

This was our 3rd time staying there and it was wonderful. My husband and I have made this our spot to celebrate our anniversary every year in the jacuzzi suite. Catherine, Sonya, and Daniel were very helpful in straightening out our reservation. The hotel does need some deep cleaning and updating though, and the pool is not functional at this time. This place has so much potential to be a gem in Austin!

I love this place but it's gotten a little lax on its decour it used to be one of the most amazing places to stay now not so much

Been wanting to stay here for months and can't explain how disappointing it was. Couldn't operate tub because the screen didn't work. When we filled the tub it leaked all over the room. No do not disturb sign, only two towels, no TV guide, incredibly soft mattress, dead bugs in the room, wouldn't cool room down, very very disappointed!

Stop crying and we're very knowledgeable of the hotel and where are the extra amenities were the hotel itself was beautiful on the inside and out.

Unfortunately, the pictures did not accurately represent this facility. This place is poorly run, amenities are absent, and staff was unsure as to how to attend to customers. The hot tub didn't work, the roofs leaked when it rained, the "complimentary breakfast" was a joke. The one pleasant thing about the place was the Hispanic maintenance man. When my bathtub would not drain, he gave me a flathead screwdriver to wedge the drain plug out. I would never go back, and I sadly would tell you not to come here, avoid if you would like to have a nice time.

Very disappointed with this place! Dirty. Smells. Water leaks. Toilet would move as you sit. Walls were stained. Switched twice. Not worth the $178.00. Bad! Asked for a discount or refund and all they could give me was a $14.99 bottle of wine on the house. Really! Wow! Never again.

Vomit on the floor, sex stains on the couch and blood stains on the curtains. It looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months. The mattress was broken down in the middle and looked like something from a homeless camp. When asked to clean it up, the staff couldn't seem to understand what was wrong. I have stayed in some rough places but this is the first time I have ever asked a hotel for a refund.

It's shame because the facility looks nice but is being managed by gross slobs who have a substandard idea of cleanliness. Do not be fooled by the nice photos, you're better off at Motel 6.

Nice staff, great bathtubs and quick OJ/Coffee provided in a.m. Online pictures look better than when you walk into the hotel. It’s sleep-able and pretty quiet. Rates are totally jacked up when Austin has a busy event that brings people to town. These rates make this hotel seem absurdly unreasonable. The most depressing thing for us personally were the carpets, upkeep of things like shower curtain (stains on ours - gross) and bedroom curtains (holes? ! Really? !) and things like pictures hanging unevenly or nightstand has used water bottles tucked behind it. With some upkeep, this place could turn around in a good direction and it’s fairly close to downtown. Just don’t pay downtown prices for this place unless you’re ok with the above.

TV didn't work, carpet stained throughout. Area with Ice machine dirty and smelly. Furniture stained.lights didn't work correctly. Bed wasn't made neatly. Lobby Area was hot as balls. Tub was nice.

OVERPRICED! TRASHY!
This place is cheap as heck. They try to make it look like a nice hotel but half the lights don't work. It has a weird smell, the furniture is dingy and old. The breakfast is disgusting and the dining area is trashed all the time it seems like no one ever tends to this place. I tried to take my fiance here for a romantic weekend and we were totally disappointed. Please do not visit this place if you value your money.

The hotel was rather low-key when I visited. Amazing price for what you get. The room with the jacuzzi/hot tub/deep bath was fantastic. It was very deep and had jets all around. The breakfast in the morning initially seemed small, but I was impressed with how it tasted. I'd recommend this property.

The hotel is a worn out dump. Maintenance man twisted handicap parking sign backwards so he could illegally use the spot. No toilet paper holder in the room, a roll is just placed on top of the toilet. Rooms are grimy with low quality craftsmanship, staff is ignorant and rude. Police came to my door looking for a reportedly wanted woman by the name of lisa. Worst stay I've ever had. This place is shady at best.

Service was good until I told her I wanted to leave. Eyes rolled and she would barely speak to me. The hotel and rooms smelled, air was week, walls were dirty, bathroom dirty, not all the lights worked, bed was super firm. With some work this place could be really neat. As is I wouldn't stay there.

I was McKayla Maroney unimpressed. Silver duct tape over cracks in the mirror, and the whole place was rundown. The only thing worthwhile was the amazing shower. Looks like they dropped every dime they had into renovating the shower. Nothing else.
