Catfish Haven, Fredericksburg TX

Terrible service! Stood at the ‘wait to be seated’ sign for several minutes. Three employees past us by several times & not one of them acknowledged our presence. Not even a ‘be right with you folks’! When I finally got a female employee’s attention she smirked & said it hadn’t even been 5 minutes! My husband just turned around & walked out. Really? Not even ‘I’m sorry, be right with you. ’

There was hardly any people and they were giving us a hard time seating 11 of us even though there was plenty of room. Then took forever to bring drinks and didn’t give us straws or offer to take our order.

The menu looks the food preparation didn't follow. Too much breading on everything. Then it was overcooked. Disappointed. Service was lacking.

Disgusting over fried/burned seafood, stale bread for the po boy, overly sweet tartar sauce and thousand island dressing. Waitresses were so rude and rolled their eyes, entire environment felt like the Jim Crow Laws era.

We have been there several times in the past 4 yrs. The only thing we have eaten is the catfish. It's always very good. Other folks we have talked to say everything they have eaten there has been very good also.

Worst experience. We had 11 in our party and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant at 6: 00pm on a Friday. Waitresses were really rude and they were arguing about who was going or not going to wait on us. Took 30 minutes to take our drink order and never took our order for food. Paid for our drinks and will never return.

Live here and tried it a couple times. Food was OK, nothing special. Tried again on a Tuesday night. Place was perhaps 1/4 capacity. Stood at the door waiting on a table for at least 5 minutes. Utterly ignored by staff. Gave up and left and only then did they bother to acknowledge us. TOO LATE! Awful experience. Will NEVER return!

The food was really good staff was excellent the only reason I gave it 4 stars was the only drink they had was unsweet tea

Homey and rustic, relaxing atmosphere. Fantastic and HUGE chicken fried steak
Baked potatoes also delicious. Wasn't super busy when we went, but only took 15 minutes tops to get our food after we ordered. Men's bathroom was nice and clean. Our server was very sweet and easygoing, while also being quick and knowledgeable.

Fried catfish had more batter than catfish. Menu has much more than catfish. Steak, burgers, CFS to mention a few.

Catfish Haven is everything you expect from a Southern catfish house. The pieces are strips, so I recommend ordering at least one more piece than you ordinarily would or get the all you can eat. Everything is reasonably priced. Today’s special was a country fried ribeye. I will try that next time. The coleslaw, catfish, and hush puppies were very tasty. Seating was immediate and the restaurant is located away from the downtown crowds, so easy parking.

We wanted to try this place out, we were a group 14. As soon as we walked in we were obviously unwelcomed, the older lady was very rude whenever we had just kindly asked about getting tables together. We were fine with sitting at 2 different tables but ended up leaving because of the first impressions of that woman. Rude.

Visiting from Marble Falls, first time to Catfish Haven. Service was excellent, catfish best I've. Cole slaw and fries super yummy.
Reasonably priced.
Definitely a go back to place.

The service was not very good and it took over 35 minutes to get our food when the place was empty. There are other options here in Fredericksburg to eat.

Was headed to a local community catfish dinner (got there too late, way crowded so settled for this. Have eaten there many times over 25 years (2 different owners) but I believe the pandemic took this place down a notch. Busy night, catfish not cooked all the way through, using fake butter for baked potato - boo! It'll be awhile before returning.
