Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens reviews
11Really lovely museum with great temporary and permanent exhibits about the school, region, and culture. We spent a nice couple of hours here while waiting to get a friend from the airport. There is free parking for the museum if you get a parking permit from the administrative offices in the museum.
We did not make it inside the museum, but will definitely be back to see the exhibits. We visited the Lhakhang as we saw there was a building from Bhutan in El Paso and had to see it. (Back story is we were married in Bhutan and it’s a small county in the Himalayas near Nepal). The building is phenomenal and brought back so many wonderful memories of our trip. The museum director was there and we spent close to two hours discussing Bhutan, the county, the people and the only Bhutanese built building in the US. It’s only open on Wednesdays and the first Saturday of the month to preserve it. It’s a MUST see!
My wife and I are visting El Paso and decided to stop by. We arrived about 45 minutes before closing time, so we had to hurry inside the museum. However, the gardens area did not dissapoint. The fact that the immense biodiversity of the area is so well reperesented in such a small area, is a credit to the university! Awesome job with the gardens, next time we are in town we will make more time for the museum.
We visited the museum as part of our homeschooling. I wanted to take them as dr.green mostly took my kids to peter piper for their field trips. Not very educational. This was a great experience and I recommend for families looking to educate their children on the history of this beautiful area. I love the exhibits and displays that offer such great insight into the history, culture, and native plants.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. I had a lot of questions and the girl from the front desk helped us and answered all the doubts.
I haven't seen the museum yet but I got a tour of the gardens which are nice to stroll through and there are areas to sit or even meet a group of people. The water to about half the garden is broken so some of the water features aren't working otherwise I'd give it four stars.
I'll get more pictures later. I just got a picture of the entrance to the museum this time.
This museum is inside of the UTEP, and has various exhibitions, starting from the foundation of Texas all the way to some graduates works
Very friendly staff and a wonderful place for those interested in history, nature and urban technology
My girls and I loved the current exhibits on migrants, border history related to migration, and civil engineering. It was our first visit but we are planning to visit again! I love that our city offers free cultural options like this. They also have designated parking right in front of the museum, you just have to go inside the office for a pass.
We also enjoyed a peaceful walk around the Chihuahuan Desert Gardens and then headed to the UTEP library for a quick visit.
The exhibits were very educational and visually pleasing. The museum is also very clean (restrooms too).
Please visit and try to donate if you are able to!
It's very relaxing here in the garden. The kids enjoy being here and there's much to see. The garden encircles the museum which is also very interesting and I would recommend to all. Checkout the garden and the museum.
I did not enter the museum, since it was a Sunday afternoon. Very nice location for a afternoon walk, lots to see as in nature plants, trees and the UTEP architecture. Great location for photo shoots.
