13Oh, how the mighty have fallen. I was greeted today by a fruit fly infestation in the fruit and vegetable section - literally covering an entire melon in one area and alight upon pretty much everything I looked at except the garlic. Headed over to the seafood counter where the partner refused to sell me littleneck clams.not that it was wrong of him - not a single one of them had a closed shell - they were all dead. Mussels weren't in much better shape. Kept moving along to the meat counter and picked out a couple of prime NY strips and a ribeye but had to explain to the butcher several times I wanted prime and not choice - he didn't seem to understand the difference. (Got them home and they were probably USDA Select - miles away from Prime.) Stopped by the cheese case and picked out one of my favorites - only wanted a little bit so I selected one of the ones sliced and packaged by the staff (only to get it home and find a hair under the plastic wrap.) Got to the main part of the store and noticed a significant amount of empty shelf space - COVID has been officially over for 2 months, so they can't use that excuse anymore. Went to find a salad and found a plethora of strawberry something or another, but not a single cobb, chef or any other traditional prepared salad. Finally, when I got to the express checkout, I was clued into what was going on. Instead of the previous 8 express checkouts, there were only 4 (and no checkers staffing them) along with 4 new self checkouts. I bailed and headed over to the regular checkout lines and asked the partner there if there had been a management change at the store recently. She said there had not been and inquired if there was a problem. I explained the things I had noticed and, as expected, received a flippant and dismissive excuse for each and every issue I brought up. "It's hot, so the flies come in" and "people were complaining about wait times, so they installed the self checkouts". *EYEROLL* This is supposed to be a HIGH END GROCERY STORE. I guess I should say -was- a high end grocery store. I generally spend several hundred dollars when I visit. It's clear that Central Market is no longer what it used to be and Charles is taking profit by cutting corners at the flagship. Can't wait to see what the lip service is from the social media partners along with the offer to call a 1-800 number where not a single staffer is empowered to do ANYTHING. HEB is going down the tubes. Don't believe me? Call the corporate office and try to connect with anyone so that you can offer feedback. You will either get transferred to an extension that rings twice and then goes to a busy signal or you'll get transferred to the 1-800 customer service. Absolutely abhorrent across the board. Guess I'll go check out Whole Foods. What a shame.
Worse person making coffee today in the morning, he was rude and unfamiliar with coffee options available to customers. Also seemed to never have helped a customer before.
I love this store. All the great service of HEB with the quality of artisanale items. Great store and great selection of teas and coffees.
Nothing ever stays in their selection too long, so don't fall in love with any brand. A great place to feel important
That's my preferred store to go for grocery. I strongly recommend. We can find at Central Market a large variety of fresh fruit&vegetables, also large variety of bakery, and many other stuff we can buy only from Central Market.
I saw a grackle fly to the Meat Market counter, flutter into meat behind the glass, steal a chicken wing, and fly off. Meanwhile, the attendees behind the counter were distracted, and laughing. A janitor was visibly shaken trying to get their attention. Another employee staffing the cheese counter briskly walked over to get their attention. When informed of the bird, the Meat Market employees simply shrugged and said, "What should we do? ”. The cheese counter person - though not their supervisor - directed them to dispose of the meat. They eliminated only two trays. The bird fluttered over more than two trays, and they did *not* sterilize the counter upon which the bird sat perusing their wares. At some point later the general manager asked me about it, and was equally unconcerned.
Perhaps I am overreacting, but I found their lack of concern very concerning. If they do less than the bare minimum when I saw the whole thing and they saw that I saw the whole thing, imagine what goes on when no one is looking.
I went in there to order my great lavender white chocolate mocha and I am in a great mood because nobody makes this coffees other than this location. I was in the store at the coffee restaurant and I go to the ordering place, I go to the counter and this person who looks sarcastic is takes my order and no matter how I say my order he turns my words around.into a negative condescending remark like I don’t know the drank I am ordering, he does not wanna make it it’s not a big deal it’s just coffee, everybody else that I have ordered this drink from 5 stars nobody gives me trouble, but this guy is sarcastic, rude, and making remarks as he’s making my coffee which is making me feel uncomfortable and wanna shop somewhere else, I literally came here with my allowance and I left with the exact amount as I came in, I was in the the morning of July 17th the guy pretty much gave up on my drink and the next lady that was there had to takeover which was nice, and made my drink with a smile and I couldn’t understand why he couldn’t do the same. The guy that gave up on my order was sassy balding worked the morning of July 17th and it sucks because I am an everyday customer I demand that you sit an instruct employee how to handle all demographics young and older.
Painless shopping! Actually enjoyable. Blueberry-lemon scones! Now that's a reason to get up in the morning.
My toy store! I can spend hours thumping baguettes and sniffing exotic fruit. The cheese section is my kryptonite. I have literally walked out of there with 2 small bags having spent 300 bucks on cheese.
Central market San Antonio location should have better customer support service and I do wish you all employees has better understanding how to deliver correct information to customers.
We come here 2-4 times a week but I had very disappointing experience with management at your store today!
Everything was so amazing over there, I tried a soft shell crab and I would rate it 8 out of 10
Really big store. I really liked it. I especially liked the big area of cheeses. Very nice place. I walked out with a $97 bill! Will def b back
Cool have stuff you won't find at other HEBs like foreign sodas but lacks some basics. Nice layout looks pretty
