Thanks Eva, Rick and Charley!
Lane closures during kerb and sidewalk renovation on Wycliff resulted in a pretty big limb being torn off my oak tree by a lost 18-wheeler.

Rather than block the last open lane or the 2 lanes needed for project equipment and access, the city's subcontractor loaded the 17 foot limb onto our sidewalk. Needless to say the heavy limb completely blocked pedestrian passage and was far too heavy to move by any means I had available. Complaining to the subcontractor onsite boss achieved nothing!

I called the Department of Public Works and was pleasantly surprised. Eva answered then calmly and politely noted my concerns. She said that the Dept.would correct the problem that day. SURE I thought - pigs might fly.

Surprise! Within an hour Rick and Charley arrived in big pickup with a chainsaw and other tools needed to reduce the limb to more manageable pieces. Taken altogether the shortened pieces were till too heavy to to be hauled off in a pickup.

Rick and Charley handled it! They persuaded the formerly reluctant subcontractor to use his front-end loader. He moved the oak limb sections to where Sanitation's (truly big enough!) bulk trash truck could grapple and load them the following morning.

I thanked both guys at the time. And I am again thanking all three: Eva, Rick and Charley, more publicly here. Too often we average citizens do nothing more than complain. I want to acknowledge the increasing number of things that our local government gets right.

Oh! And we got great new sidewalks and kerbs too!
