Dr. Varughese is the most wonderful pediatrician we could have asked for! She is always quick and responsive to any concerns we have for our children. She is able to get us in for urgent appointments right away and handles refill requests and MyChart messages promptly. She shows compassion for her patients and their families in addition to providing the best care possible. We feel so lucky to have her!

Dr Varguese is definitely a hit or miss when it comes to professionalism. My kids have been going to her for years. And I always say I’m going to change Dr.s but I don’t cause it’s such a pain to transfer all their medical history. Additionally, Varguese is the only pediatrician my now eight year old has ever had and I guess I just wanted both my kids to grow up knowing the same Dr so I always let it go. I did tried to switch to Dr Peak a few years ago and I was told I couldn’t. It’s weird though cause the treatment I get from Dr Varguese isn’t the same treatment she gives to my kids dad. She’s nice to him. With me, she’s disingenuous. And often talks to me like I’m ignorant. It’s quite rude and while it makes me look at her side ways in the moment, I l always let it go. However, I am now switching health care providers all together as well as reporting Dr Varguese to Texas Medical Board. Not for the way she treats me but because of our recent visit.

I took my son in for wheezing. The nurse checked his oxygen levels and they were at 94. The Nurse said “his oxygen levels are a little below normal so let me ask the Dr if she wants to give him a breathing treatment”. Dr V came in a few min later and said “He definitely needs a breathing treatment but we can only give him a breathing treatment if he gets a covid test first”. That threw me so I was like. “huh? Why? ” And she said it was policy. I then asked her, “how much does it cost? ” (I have private insurance thorough my my employer). She said “most insurance companies cover covid testing. Do you not have coverage for your children? Are you going to pay out of pocket? ”. However, there’s a sign on the wall that says, “Most insurance companies do not cover covid testing”. By the way when she asked “do you not have insurance for your children” it was in a condescending manner. So rude. For the record, I have private insurance through my company that I pay $7000 a year for. Just distasteful. Back to incident.nurse came in and asked if Walgreens was still our Pharmacy we wanted to use which I said yes. Said she was sending meds. We left. An hour later, I get a text from CVS saying my medication was in. I thought it was odd cause we always use Walgreens and the nurse even confirmed pharmacy. I called up to cooks around 4pm letting them know about the mistake and they said they would switch it to Walgreens. So I went to Walgreens and they gave me a big bag. I assumed it was all the meds. Get home, it’s only the face mask and chamber for albuterol. By that time, cooks was closed so I called cvs to pick up the actual medication and they told me they had nothing for my son. Next morning I go back to Walgreens and they insist, CVS has his meds so I go back to CVS and again, nothing at that location or any CVS locations for that matter. I call Cooks while I’m at CVS and they said, “we transferred it to Walgreens like you asked”. Whilst on the phone with cooks I drove to Walgreens. Again nothing. By this time it’s been almost 24 hours since my son saw the Dr and no medication for him. So Cooks calls Walgreens while I’m on the phone and they said okay we got it.can you come back in an hour. I came back in an hour with the same girl at Walgreens and she again said, it’s at CVS. I called cooks again to which they finally got Dr V on the phone and she said “Ive been on hold with them and they hung up” so I told both the pharmacy and Dr, this is out of my control. Please figure it out. Finally.we got meds. I do feel like Dr V purposefully knew what she was doing. Every other medication from that office has been sent to Walgreens. When I told her that. She said “well it won’t let me send it to cvs if you didn’t buy from there before”. Smh. In conclusion, do to her negligence of reading my sons chart appropriately, she could have caused my son danger and/or more discomfort. Not to mention the frustration and worry. My kids well visits are coming up and I will he changing Drs before I take them back to Cooks Children. I’m hoping this isn’t how all pediatricians are.

I give Dr. Peak a 100/10 she is the best pediatrician, she has seen me since I was young and I brought my son to her. As a new full time working mom I ended up missing too many appointments and they kicked me from the practice. I understand they have rules but the managers lack of empathy was very disappointing considering I am now 23 and have been seeing Dr. Peak as long as I can remember.

I've been brining my daughters to Dr. Varughese since my eldest was born 4.5 years ago. Dr. V.and her entire staff are so compassionate, patient and thorough in our visits and with their follow-ups. Dr. V.truly cares about her patients and has a special way with kids. I am so grateful to have found such positive and consistent care for my family. Thank you Dr. V.for all that you do!

My experience has been so/so with Dr. Varughese. Maybe I caught her on a bad day yesterday but I felt that she was very impatient with me when it came to recommending ADHD medicines for my child. My child's visits with her always seem very rushed. When we first started going to Cooks Children my daughter had an awesome pediatrician but unfortunately she didn't specialize in ADHD so we were switched to Varughese. At the first visit for ADHD she recommended seeing a child psychologist but couldn't give me any recommendations or referrals on who to see. When paying for a doctor's visit, that doctor should be able to give you as much helpful information as possible, especially when they specialize in something. I pay once a month for a visit just for her to say how is she doing and ok I'll send a script. As I've been on this journey with dealing with an ADHD child the 1st thing everyone ask is have you discussed options with your pediatrician. And Dr. Varughese is extremely lacking in that area.
