This review for Cross Creek is for the Adolescent ward. TL/DR: Stay away from here, it is a horrible experience.
[UPDATE: Don't be fooled by the social media manager saying they're "troubled" by this review. The same points about their problems with zero transparency, low communication, horrible financial controls, and poor medical planning and outcomes are in dozens of reviews going back over two years. They might be "troubled" but they're not empowered to do anything about it, like many of the line workers at CC. ]
My child was sent to Cross Creek from Dell Children's. Though we had a referral, admission took 4 hours. Staff were not antagonistic but left us waiting, sometimes for over an hour, in a locked room without an understand as to what was going on. There was no communication about the process or how long it would take. That is typical for Cross Creek.
Cross Creek is run by a corporation out of TN on the cheap. So they are chronically understaffed and the staff that they do have are low paid. They try to get by on the least expensive staff that they can, so PA instead of an MD, Med Tech instead of a nurse, etc.
My child was aggressive, not suicidal, but he was put on a ward that was >90% suicidal. After admission we heard almost NOTHING from Cross Creek (except apologies and excuses) about their condition, prognosis, medical plan, etc.even though we called multiple times per day. No one with knowledge of our child's condition would answer the phone, no one would call us back. They really are for storage and safe keeping of kids instead of planning and improvement.
We finally heard from a PA on Day 5, and that was to say that our child was getting discharged the next day!
After discharge they said they filed with our insurance company but that was a lie, they had not. They could not produce an actual bill that we could use for insurance filing. They sent us spreadsheets and pressured us to pay quickly for a 25% discount, but zero understanding about how that would impact our insurance filing. To this date (>90 days later) I still have not received anything that could be called a bill.
EVERYTHING is on paper, NOTHING is electronic, and they won't give you copies of anything. NO ONE in administration answers their phones or emails. I suspect they know why you are calling and would rather have their underlings lie to you instead of doing it themselves.
Gave them 2 stars (instead of 1) because the line workers, though overworked and underpaid, are usually kind and have a good (not bad) attitude. But they are not given the tools or organizational structure to be effective or impactful.
But because of zero transparency, low communication, horrible financial controls, poor medical planning and outcomes, and lots of crazy paper records I recommend you stay far away and go somewhere else.

Does not allow people legally required time outside, accused me of having done meth, stated that my fears of people who sent actual threats I have physical proof of were delusions. The existence of this place clearly does more harm than good. They hate and distrust their own clients. If someone says someone is threatening them, why do you immediately assume that to be a delusion? Do these doctors simply not understand that threatening people are real? Why did they think I was deadbolted out of my apartment if my roommates didn't want me any harm? At one point they asked if I thought my roommates were trying to kill me and I answered "no, but they definitely wouldnt care if i died" and each subsequent paper was filled with "believes roommates are trying to kill him" even though all I mentioned were the times they legitimately threatened me, bragged about spitting in my food and asked to fight as answers to questions I was asked. Which does mean they were trying to harm me to anyone who isn't stupid. It wasn't long after visiting here I was assaulted by a roommate in my next apartment. I suppose that was a delusion, too. If these doctors know meth use to be so common that they can randomly put down that I did meth in the past without even asking, then why the hell do they assume every roommate situation is going to be peaceful? The psychiatrists are the craziest people here, I don't know what kind of pampered life the doctor who diagnosed me with paranoia lived to think that the violent threats I experienced were delusions especially because they cannot write a single instance of a different delusion in their report, just puts "denies being delusional" because I'm not. Pierson, if you think violent threats don't happen outside of people's minds, that means you don't believe in something that exists, which makes you de facto delusional in that being your delusion. Further reading on delusion is that it appears in. 1% of the population at most and is characterize as having beliefs that are not real but not improbable, they mostly involve love and delusions about people trying to harm you are so rare they didn't appear in any of my research. But, that just raises the question, who are you to tell me what is happening in my own life? If we both agree that roommates acting violent is a possibility, why do you have the power to say it has not happened to me despite not having any evidence and not even examining the evidence. How are you, a stranger, to tell me, my roommates, people who you have never met do not wish me harm? It's worth noting that those roommates were banned from ever reapplying to the apartment complex because of the overwhelming evidence of them trying to harm me that the landlord had. None of this evidence is available to the psychologist who must assume any extreme interaction their patient has with the outside world is a delusion, when psychologist themselves can't even get a full picture view of the life of the patient. I'm not the first person to be misdiagnosed here. I won't be the last.

The staff at the reception are very rude… they could never give me information about my daughter, they did not give her her personal things when she left.

Cross creek literally saved my life! I’ve been through different programs that did not help. The other programs were more about” how fast can we get them out. ” Not cross creek, from the minute I walked in, up to my last day they were able to assist me. My mental health was my down fall, but cross creek knew what to do to help me turn that around. They helped me understand my mental health a lot better with the proper persistence and the right program for MY needs. This place is amazing and I recommend it for people really struggling.

Out of line. Absolutely not organized. 2 hours in waiting room is Max Time Texas Law. 0-8890.1 Texas Law Mentally Hospital. I myself waiting for another 2 hours. That's total 06. So I didn't care to share my legal briefing. I continued on. Now with formalities out of way. Nurse comes. Vitals, What not.then skin test. (In the back round you can hear laughing from staff) granted the notion they are talking about me. '' hey I'm the sick one. ". Then go to bed. Next day. THERE IS NO 7 MIN BRIEFING. REQUIRED BY PRES. OF AMERICA: 1992. ALSO THE YEAR PHARMACY HAD TO TELL PATIENT ' SOMETHING' ABOUT SCHEDULED CONTROLLED. BUSH ADMINISTRATION. SO we just take one class that people sleep.there is no fun time; run racing.no smoking.contest.eat/booboo/sleep.sorry coloreds. David.

This place is starting to seem as bad as Georgetown Behavioral because my wife was loopy yesterday when she called me from this hospital and didn't give me her full patient number the receptionist refused to give her a message or even reveal she was there even though she called me yesterday said because I was yelling at her is the reason she won't I would yet again suggest another hospital this one seems unprofessional

This place couldn't handle a cold! Staff doesn't talk to the family, doesn't return phone calls and that's IF they even answer the phone. Their providers don't seem to have a clue how to do medication management either.

After reading all these reviews I was really nervous about Cross Creek but I didn't need to be. The IOP program was amazing. Andrea, Ryan and their team were wonderful to work with. They were supportive, open, dedicated and truly caring. They made a world of difference in our lives and I'm grateful for them. Thank you! The receptionist was outstanding as well.

I hope they're actually letting people have the legal mandated out door time rather than just handing families and lawyers a madeup schedule and sitting 6 people on a three person couch in front of cable for months now.

The receptionist I spoke to was just NASTY. Her name is raineese and I literally didn’t get my message relayed over to the patient I was trying to contact

One star because you cannot leave a review without one. Staff are rude in intake/admissions. No communication what so ever to complete continuity of care. Tried calling for over 12 hours on three separate days and finally got a response from the facility.

Worst experience of my life, went there to get better and all I got was to be treated like a criminal. The cafeteria STINKS like crazy and has to be a health violation. The staff tends to treat patients like they are in the military and makes fun, degrades and laughs at people who are having a rough time. There is no help or resources during the weekend. I had a wound on my arm that gor infected because nobody would bother to actually look at it. This might have been one of the most traumatizing places to be in ever.

Cross Creek Hospital has undoubtedly earned its reputation for excellence within this year alone (2023). Countless staff members, from the dedicated CEO, director of nursing, nursing mangers to the phenomenal nurses and techs, consistently go above and beyond their duties, even when facing personal challenges at home. It's truly inspiring to witness their unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care.

While it's natural for any company to have its share of drawbacks, I firmly believe that Cross Creek Hospital has successfully created an environment where every patient feels welcomed and valued. The leadership at this hospital deserves accolades for their efforts in cultivating a non-hostile atmosphere for both patients and the dedicated staff.

The future of Cross Creek Hospital looks incredibly promising, thanks to the visionary leaders who understand the importance of fostering a positive and supportive environment. Their dedication will undoubtedly lead to continued success and the wellbeing of both patients and hospital staff. Without a doubt, Cross Creek Hospital is an extraordinary healthcare facility that shines brightly.

Honestly I was here in March. Richard was amazing! Everyone was amazing. The lady at check out told me She couldn’t find my Insurance (which is BCBS Fed) and she is “ SUPPOSED” to keep me there and not release me like as if she is a Judge. I will not say her name. Lmao. She should be a patient there. She is a b but Everyone Else is amazing.

I love CrossCreek! It's the best psych hospital in Austin! The staff and Drs are excellent in a comfortable Christian surrounding. They have fun groups, and pet therapy thru Divine Canines. Ps the food is good too! Highly recommend
