Da Vinci Ristorante Italiano, Katy TX

Expectations were good, based on so many positive reviews but those were diminished rather quickly, unfortunately. The first bad impression was the server who insisted on standing as close as he could to the table to the point of standing over it, rattling off the specials in a rapid-fire delivery, and completely oblivious to the fact that my hand was over my water glass to avoid his spittle from showering into it. A short while later I asked him about the veal special and again he explained in such a rapid-fire way that I couldn't even understand what was just said. Ignoring that, we ordered a Caesar salad to split while deciding on our entrée. You'd better like cheese in your salad because it's loaded with it, and I couldn't take much more so I left it unfinished. Some complimentary bruschetta was placed on our table with two spreads. My girlfriend had already mentioned that it tasted very odd, so I took a bite of a piece without the spread and the bread was soggy and tasted old - it was actually disgusting, so I asked that he take that away. Being half-Sicilian, my test of any Italian restaurant is a simple Lasagna, which I ordered while covering my Moretti with my hand to avoid his spittle again, and it was served in a Moscow Mule mug, which was fairly odd. Beer should never be served in a metal mug. The Lasagna arrived in a heart-shaped bowl and the sauce was soupy. I pulled about a quarter pound of thick cheese off the top before trying to cut into it with my fork but couldn't because it's served in a soup bowl, due to the sauce being watery. I never even tasted it because I was too disgusted by the entire experience at this point. So, I had a portion of a terrible salad and a bite of inedible bruschetta for dinner and two Moretti's. I'll tip up to 30% for great service but our waiter (aside from the ordering process with a side order of spittle in drinks and rapid-fire delivery) didn't bother checking on our table, was waved over for the second beer, and for some strange reason the other waiter came by to box up my girlfriend's to-go container, so our waiter was tipped 10%. I don't know the name of the waiter but he's about as good at his job as the cook who makes their Lasagna. Wit the 10% tip, one entree, two beers, three flutes of house prosecco and a split Caesar salad: $117.29. Have at it. Needless to say, we won't be making this mistake twice.

Such a cool little gem in Katy.

We wanted to eat here but didn’t realize that day was totally booked up. We saw the takeout menu and took a picture. That day we ended up eating in the same plaza at Carabbas which is also a great place that we like.

On another day we finally ordered from their takeout menu and it was amazing. All the food was really delicious: everything we ordered was great. We liked the soup, main dish (chicken) and side veggies. We also got the tiramisu dessert which was delicious.

Excellent, great food, ambience, service and overall experience! Romantic and lovely place to celebrate any occasion.

But it’s a small place and needs reservation in advance most of the time

The waiting time was absolutely ridiculous. MOST IMPORTANTLY the owner of this place speak and treats his workers like theyre being held hostage. There was an issue with our order and the owner yelled in a degrading manner, “if you want to get quick service then go to McDonald’s and I will fire your waiter. ” He is disrespectful to the point where the staff is acknowledging and apologizing on the owners behalf. The waiters were shaking and trembling speaking to us after the owner demeaned them in this way. When I told him that it took an hour for us to even get the food on our table (in which the order was messed up AGAIN) he said this is a high end restaurant but I have been to Michelin star restaurants and this place comes no where near. If you care about the way humans are treated then DO NOT GO HERE!

My wife and I went to Da Vinci to celebrate a wedding anniversary! Thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience! Very romantic atmosphere, attentive wait staff, delicious food creatively presented! Their desserts are the "pièce de résistance"

The food was great and super delicious but the only issue is that they are generous with cheese which makes the food salty.
They are great for date night. Everything is so romantic.
The waiters keep checking on us to make sure we are doing okay and I appreciate that.
The decor is very nice.
Overall, I loved the experience and felt very special.

Exquisite is not a word I’d lightly use to describe a restaurant, but DaVinci truly earned it. Small and romantic space, carefully decorated to match the restaurants you’d find in Italy. The waiting staff was wonderful; knowledgeable, patient and well mannered. Being the last ones to leave, our son got entertained by a “magician”, while eating his decadent lemoncello gelato, and he loved it!
It was our 20th anniversary dinner, and the three hours we spent dining, chatting to each other and having a great time, were worth every moment. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to return!

This review is purely for the service, as we didn't even get a chance to order any food before we left. Went to dinner on a Thursday, arrived and was seated. Only seven other tables were occupied. Once seated, we were brought bread and water. Other than that, no one came up to our table, or gave us a menu, or asked if we wanted anything else to drink besides water. Multiple servers/waiters walked right pass our table dozens of times, but not once did anyone stop at our table. I even waved down one of the servers and asked for a waiter, he looked at me and then walked to the back. Still no one came to our table. After 15 minutes without any kind of service or acknowledgement, we walked out.

I'd be more understanding if it was a fully packed restaurant. But as I mentioned earlier, they weren't even half full. And even so, someone should have stopped by and acknowledged us.

We ended up at another Italian restaurant and had a much better experience. In fact, I recommend people just skip this place and instead give Pane e Vino a try.

Lovely restaurant. The food was delicious Service was attentive. The restaurant is small and it gets full quickly. Make sure you have a reservation. The deserts are beautify plated. I will definitely return.

Everything about the place was amazing! We had a Cesar salad (Salad was fantastic with all the trimmings), must try the tomato basil, some of the best I have ever had along with a spectacular Spaghetti bolognese & the Fettuccine Alfredo 10/10 too!

Food was AMAZING! The ambience was so cute and romantic. The owner also comes by to do magic tricks sometimes.

Da Vinci Ristorante Italiano has always been one of my favorite places to dine. The service is above excellent - from the moment you enter to the moment you leave you are treated as if you are a favorite member of the family! Food mirrors that of a fine restaurant in Italy - I worked for an Italian company and have spent a lot of time in Italy - eating in local spots and having dinner in the homes of Italian co-workers. Eating at Da Vinci's makes me feel like I am back in Italy! I would highly recommend the restaurant for anybody that wants a "Touch of Italy" without leaving Katy!

Fantastic place all the way around, what a fabulos place for a romantic date night with my husband. I would offer 5 stars if i could. Chilean Sea Bass was cooked to perfection. Flavors were superb. I cant say enough great things about this place.
