A delightful museum. Wonderful mix of art and history with some exhibitions that are not common in museums. I really appreciate the care and thought that went into exhibitions relating to the culture around Houston. Entry early opening was not an issue and didn't fill up to an uncomfortable extent until past 3. Free entry with some exhibits that are paid for with the staff being helpful and understanding. Do be aware of some areas that are off-limits with little indication.

First time here. After-hours exhibitions were closed. Went for Arts and Letters Live event. Organized. Museum staff were welcoming and courteous.
Browsed Museum store. Some interesting finds. For a first timer, navigating parking was a little confusing. Ended up on the street after getting lost trying to access museum parking even with maps. Would like to go back for an exhibition and walk around a bit. Overall, it was a good experience.

I visited the museum with my wife on July 4th. The museum has a very modern feel to it. The exhibits are spaced out. We both really enjoyed the museum. I had to rush, will go back again and spend more time. And it’s free! Absolute must visit.

Update: The children's area is temporarily closed for renovation.

The Museum is such a welcoming place to be. The Cartier and Islamic Art exhibit is absolutely amazing. The pieces are beautiful and the pairing with the Keir collection is great.

Great museum with a wide variety of exhibits. I thought the cost for the special exhibits was a little high (Movement was neat, but small; Sinners was not too exciting to me, but was sizeable), but since the rest of the exhibits were free it kind of balances out. It was a little labyrinthian, but I had a lot of fun here, some really cool modern art and an amazing Asian collection, plus one of the largest African art collections that I have seen in the US.

The old art is true art but the modern art is not, it was very crowded and had an old building/mildew smell to it. Free for most of the exhibits

WOW! Really fantastic art museum. Diverse offering so there is something for everyone. Can’t believe that general admission is free. Expect to spend at least a couple of hours there!

A huge museum with plenty to wander around and see, whether the majority free galleries or the special ticketed exhibits. There is art from all over the world, ranging from Islamic to African to European and modern.

We enjoyed the paintings sculpture and artifacts displayed. Some we really liked, some we did not. Some we recognized some we will never understand. But we are always stimulated to converse, cogitate, and consider. DMA is one of the jewels in the Arts District.

I have never been fussed at for trying to read an art description at a museum before. Kind of off put the whole thing. Thank you to the front desk lady for trying to recover it. If I could rate her, 10 stars.

A free art museum with a variety of exhibits in their permanent collection from around the world. My favorites were the Mayan and Indigenous collections along with some pieces by Mexican artists. Would recommend a visit and starting from the top to work yourself down the stairs. I gave one less star because it’s a bit harder to find parking in the downtown area and you need to pay for parking. The museum does not have parking included.

What a beautiful facility! I truly enjoyed the First Ladies book chat with with author Victoria Christopher Murray (and Marie Benedict in her absence). The staff was super friendly, and I love the charming atmosphere!

I had a wonderful time at the DMA. Entry was free but I paid $15 for the day pass so I could see the special exhibits. The DMA suggests ordering the tickets online in advance so that is what I did. The tickets were downloaded to my phone so all I had to do was walk in no waiting and the employee at the door scanned my ticket. All of the employees were very friendly and helpful. I'm disabled and was able to borrow a wheelchair for free for the day at the information desk. If you need to do the same though I recommend arriving early though since the wheelchairs are first come first serve and in limited supply. The exhibits were interesting and informative as always.

When my family and I got there we got greeted with we’re not able to use our wagon or diaper backpack bc it wasn’t allowed. I wish you guys would’ve just put that on your website so we don’t waste our time and waste our money for parking! It was such a frustrating situation.

It is a museum. A lot of guards watching your every move. Special exhibits without notifications and the employees rushing to take you out of the exhibit. 20 dollar fee for parking at the museum. There is parking for 13 dollars two blocks down from the museum.

Not much you can do if you enter via the free pass. Takes about an hour overall, recommend you buy the tickets for the special exhibits. The free ones are just about okay. Would recommend going as it's pretty chilled inside compared to the 100 degrees outside

Good museum with a decent collection of art and sculptures. The entry is free and it is only a 7 minute walk away from the St. Paul DART train station.

Mixed works displayed! I was delighted when I saw some Masters' works too! Exhaustive museum and can be tiring. Understandably not as good as the London or Rome Museums, probably due to the shear difference of age.but very very nice.

There's a very large and eclectic amount of Art here! Different collections from all over the world make for a very interesting visit.

The only issue that I had is I wish the website would have been a bit more forthcoming that one of the special exhibitions cost an additional amount to enter. Free is great, and free is appreciated, but additional fees are frustrating. Also, I'd highly suggest either taking a Rideshare car or finding somewhere else to park. Parking at dma is $20.
