I came to the Deborah Colton Gallery to see the work of the Wheeler Brothers. One of them has the first name Jeff. I believed December 3rd this year of 2022 was the last day of the show because that was the date provided by the gallery advertising. Kindly, Ms Colton opened the gallery for me a very few minutes approximately 5: 03PM which was after closing on Saturday December 3rd. I wish she had told me Dec. 3rd was no longer the last day of the exhibition. She could have said the show had been extended another 2 weeks, I believe it is true, another two weeks … perhaps until December 17th. I had so many better things to do than be accused of preventing her artist from making money as she snarled at me. My one and only previous visit to her gallery was September 30 when the gallery was open until 5: 30 to see this same show and I had asked her then if photography was permitted. She said yes. On December 3rd I shot 5 photographs with my cell phone. Of these photos I shot one photo close-up of a label with a tiny bit of the artwork associated so that I could know for which artwork the label existed. I am hardly computer literate. In fact soon my first computer, a laptop, will arrive to me … well it will be my first computer since I had a used one in 2009. Colton demanded I tell her what I would be doing with “those photographs! ” Ms Colton, the answer is art appreciation. Ms Colton I am a stutterer therefore I stood there before you apologizing as you scolded me. By the way, I very recently married an architect who I met 4 years ago. All of a sudden I am no longer in poverty unable to own a laptop or any other computer. I even now have a cell phone bought for me by my husband. I will never return to the Colton Gallery because of the behavior directed toward me by Deborah Colton. I shot one of the the 5 photographs of a didactic paneI which I have posted here. I am just an artist. I paint with paint brushes in acrylic on canvas, wood panels and larger I have painted murals on exterior walls. I paint small to gigantic watercolors on smooth Fabriano paper as did the great Joseph Raffael. I am also influenced by my teacher Jacob Lawrence 1917-2000. I am not a graphic designer or a collage artist. I do not take the art of any other person. I only draw and paint my own original compositions without copying in any way. I do not work in any way with or from photographs. I was there at the Colton Gallery solely for the purpose of Art appreciation.

This gallery has a strong focus on some of the most significant Texas artists. But it goes beyond that, to curate shows that feature groundbreaking art by artists from around the world. Cudos to Debra Colton for her trained eye and her tireless search for the great art of our time!
