Dixie House Cafe reviews
19The waitress was really funny and just really friendly good food. Good people good experience thank God for good people and good food.
Everyone was so nice. Scenery was nice too. Loggerhead biscuits are always a plus. One funny note though, when the waitresses are coming the door, it sounds like someone is passing gas. LOL
It was great experience I never been in this place, is really nice, good food and the personal very nice definitely recommend
My family has been eating at Dixie House locations for probably 15 years, since the H‑E‑B location first opened in Euless (prior to relocating to Hurst). Went to eat there today and noticed how empty it was. This place used to be busy all the time. Upon receiving the bill it became obvious why it’s dead… the prices. The food is still decent and the service is still friendly (our waitress was excellent) but we could’ve eaten at a steakhouse for what we paid. The rent in this new location must be ASTRONOMICAL because for 3 whiteboard specials, 3 drinks, and 2 banana puddings we paid $68 and they charged us a $3 fee for paying with a card. $71 for food that is prepared in the morning and kept on a warmer all day? At these new overinflated prices, Dixie House is just not worth the cost anymore. Last time patronizing this establishment.
This place was overpriced for what it was. Our server forgot some things that we asked for and seemed a little preoccupied with other tasks likely due to staffing issues. She was not rude or anything just preoccupied. The chicken-fried steak seems to be a popular selection here. There used to be a place in East Dallas with the same name but this is definitely not the same place. The food was average and not worth the additional cost when you can find these dishes elsewhere cheaper. It was not packed when we were there only maybe 4 tables of people. Nothing to write home about. We do not plan on going back.
Order breakfast Taco with sausage, egg and cheese. The price was, $13. I should have asked if you get 2 or 3? When it came out there was 1 served on a small plate, it was the size of a regular Taco. So I asked the cashier if that price was correct for 1 Taco and she said yes. So I told her I can't believe if I ordered 2 it would have cost $25! Absolutely ridiculous.
Coworker an I went to this location to order an inexpensive lunch, ordered the patty melt with what was thought to include French fries an a tea! After lunch we decided to get a price of pie! Big mistake at bill time! The patty melt did not include fries, 12.95 for it, 5.85 for fries, 6.25 for a very small piece of pie, 4.95 for tea! Bill was $30. Then if you use a card tax on a $1.20 for using it! Not impressed with spending this much for lunch! Never will be darkening those doors again oh an supposedly it was corporate! Must be paying their porche payment! This is ludicrous!
Cockaroches in the bathroom food was not good and and for lunch 31.00 for a hamburger ff and a drink oh and a 130 charge for my card never again will I go there and if I saw the roaches before I ate would have left
Went for breakfast, service was friendly and prompt. Menu prices for diner food was exorbitant particularly the ala carte choices and add-ons or subs. Likely wouldn't return.
This place is a ripoff! Burger alone was $15 and were two small premade patties that were just awful! Oh, and fries were an extra $6+! There were 4 of us that ate and they got one of orders wrong. We should have known by the empty parking lot that there would be issues. I'll never eat here again!
The food is so sad for a 16$ the meal had little to no flavor
The biscuit was dry and hard
It has fallen down in recent months
I would come here for lunch going to school and was great
But now it not even worth coming here
This place has decent food but is insanely expensive. We're talking $7 for an extra biscuit. $7 for two tortillas. I think I saw a side of sausage was like $10. It's wild.
Then, if you want to use a credit card, they tack on a 4% credit card fee. Definitely won't be going back.
Food was.delicious but too salty for me. Some people would just think it's delicious; but why does everything have to have so much salt? Great service, we'll be back
We went today for lunch and saw little friends (roaches) coming out the wall. At least a couple. We told the waiter and she said she will let the manager know. The manager (pregnant lady) said they had sprayed something over the weekend. We were only told our drinks would be free when 4/5 of us got waters. We were very disgusted by it.
This place is way overpriced. Food is good but burgers/sandwiches don’t come with chips or fries. It’s an extra $5+ for fries? A club sandwich alone is $13.99? This is my second time visiting and the first time, the mashed potatoes were in one clump that you could pick up with your fork. We didn’t order those the second time around. The service is good, and the desserts look really good. But definitely will not be back.
Odd place.very salty food.unappetizing food.server kept trying to take my plates before I was done.price was out of line to the quality served.keep going back hoping it would different.disappointed every time
Lol… What do you mean it’s $14 for a side of French fries…. $13 for a kids meal… like how does this make sense?
Do not recommend. Came here for lunch around 2: 30pm.as soon as we walked in we were greeted by a server/host that seemed bothered by our arrival. We were sat at a booth that was being held together by black duct tape at the edges and if you bumped against it, the table would start losing its "crumbs" onto your lap. Looking at the menu the prices were 13-16 a meal (kids meal 12.75) so we were expecting big portions and delicious food. We are in TEXAS so what else could we expect? ! Well we got our food served on compartment plastic plates.prison style yall.and the portions were literally 1 ice cream scoop size for sides and the meat was very small and thin. Flavor was non existant so we did send back the worst of the food with only a single bite taken, that was removed from the check so that was fair. I really do not understand how this place manages to keep their prices so high with less than sub par food/flavor and portions.
What happened to the prices here. Things literally doubled in price. No thanks. Won’t be here again. Price not worth the half cooked breakfast food.
