Don's Fish Camp, Martindale TX

Took my kids on a tubing trip here. You park, pay for the trip and then you get on a school bus that takes you to the start of the Float. The seats on the bus are very dusty and dirty but we're just getting in a river anyway. Once we got off the bus, we were directed to choose a tube out of the very many piled up. We were also shown where the air nozzle was to add air if needed. Then we were on our own! My recommendation is if you can find a tube that has a backrest on it, take that one! This was a very lazy river! Some points didn't even feel like we were moving! Very relaxing! The river does get fairly deep in some spots. We saw lots of wildlife! Several types of birds, hundreds of turtles, couple fish, couple snakes and the biggest surprise to me, cattle coming down to get a drink! It did get a lil rough about halfway through but it was very manageable and was over pretty quickly. We did a fair amount of paddling and it took us over 3 hours to complete! For under $30 a person you really can't beat that. Aqua socks are highly recommended as well! Once you're done, you're right back to where you parked. There were 2 food trucks there but neither was operating at the time, unfortunately. There is also a pit bathroom there and you can also rent coolers to float with you.

Beautiful place for camping, fishing, paddle boarding, late night rope swinging, and any other outdoor activities. Owners are very nice and accommodating! Will definitely be back and recommend to everyone.
There was a very drunk guy that invaded our camp on the first night and fell into my tent and broke it. Then his dogs got into our food when we went to the rope swing. So beware it can get rowdy out there.

I put a kayak on the crystal clear spring waters of the San Marcos River at Combat Kayak. They are a support group for Wounded Warriors. They rent kayaks, canoes, and offer lessons. I had my service dog. I used my own equipment. They loaned me a life vest…they let me park in their parking lot…they close at 5: 00 PM…. They gave me a phone number to call and they would come pick me up down River…. I didn’t reach Martindale before 7: 00 PM…I did not want to bother them in the after hours, yet knew if needed them they would come get me. …Dons fish camp prepared a bar b que sandwich for me to eat…they prepared some bar b que for my service dog…. A young man working at Don’s Fish Camp offered to haul my kayak, my dog, and me back to Combat Kayak…he is senior at Texas State university…from Brownwood Texas…. Combat Kayak left the gate open for us…. Fine folks…great River… great exercise…great fun…. Great service…best River in Texas…finest folks on earth. Thank you Combat Kayak…thank you Don’s Fish Camp…

Had the time of our life’s camping out here. Cody and Nicole made sure we had everything we need from wood to fresh eggs. Will definitely be back!

We love Don’s fish camp! Check them out year round if you want a more private camping experience right on the water. My boyfriend and I had the best new years camping trip here.

Doug made our bus ride quite enjoyable. Loved hearing his stories. We floated late and it was nice to see Don's employees waiting to make sure everyone got off the river and back to their cars ok.

I tried other places before but, I've had the best experience here when it comes to parking, the tubes, and the ease of everything.

Went there once with a group of friends. Really cool place to go tubing and to relax in the river. Make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen so you don't get burned especially during the summer. They have more than plenty of tubes you can rent but if you want to buy your own tube, make sure you get one of a good quality (not the cheap flimsy kind). And don't forget to bring plenty of rope if you want to ride together as a group. Just check online for tubing tips.

I went on a Saturday. Got there at 11: 30 and didn’t get in the river until 2… I understand that Saturdays are busy days but they should really have proper equipment to accommodate. For example, you can bring your own tube and blow it up with their pumps. But half of their nozzles are broken and the ones that do work pump air super slow. As we were in line waiting for a hose to use my group aired up their tubes WITH THE BREATH FROM THEIR LUNGS. That is how long we waited.

Best float I have ever experienced river is clean the ride is good the staff friendly and welcoming really beet place in texas if you are in the area it is well.wprth the time and the price is fair too!

Was a little confusing for the 1st time tubing, not given enough info from the kids that work there.but did enjoy the tunes & the river. Didn't realize when we got out that we were back @ the camp.

Been floating the San Marcos since when Don was still at the gate to rent you your tube. I prefer renting through Don’s because of their river entrance.

DO NOT USE FOR BIG GROUPS. We used Don's two weeks ago where we brought 27 people on a bus and over 40 people in total. We had been speaking to a Don's representative up to a week before we arrived for the float and he had told us we would get a discount on the float when we paid. When the bus full of people arrived to pay, it was extremely disorganized and they said they didn't know we were coming, which is not true. We did not get our discount but since it was such a cluster I went ahead and paid it. Now, two weeks later, we have called 5 different times to get the money refunded and they will not refund us. They keep asking us to leave a name and phone number and then never follow up or refund us. I am now out hundreds of dollars because Don's refuses to refund me and I will have to bring it to my credit card company to dispute. Beware.

Had a lot of fun, only reason for the four stars is that there weren't enough air hoses to inflate the floating tubes. We lost time waiting.

Been floating here for years. Best place to go! Loyal customer. I am surprised there is no senior discount tho as my 69 y/o mom loves her senior citizen rates. ;)

Great 3-4 hour float. Lot of people come through, but it is fairly efficiently run. Have gone twice now and would do it again!

Long process to get from the beginning of the line to the water to start tubing. Very unorganized process to pump up your own tubes which causes some customers to get angry towards others. Some pumps were out of order.
