Don's Photo Equipment reviews
25He was very helpful and knowledgeable. I'm a beginner at photography, so I'm learning and he gave me some great tips and advice. He has just about everything at a reasonable price. Definitely will be back soon
I had a great buying experience! The owner is very friendly and obviously in to retro photography. He had a fair price for the tripod I needed.
Awesome photography store selling quality supplies and film. Seems they have everything you could or would ever want but can't find anywhere else in the DFW Metroplex. I'd say save the time and gas and just head over here, I'm glad I did. Very knowledgable and extremely friendly owners!
I had a great experience there. Very friendly and welcoming service! Plus I made great deal on a carbon fiber tripod.
They were cleaning up the store at that moment, so it was kinda "messy", but I really liked the flair.
They also have a lot of rare films in stock. So if you are a film photographer, this is the place to go!
This is a film camera and supply store. They rarely, if ever, stock digital cameras or accessories. That said, Don and his son Todd provide great, honest, informative service to beginners and experts alike. They won't try to upsell you on anything. I watched Todd set two cameras in front of a student buying her first. "Will this one take better pictures? " she asked, pointing at the more expensive Canon. "It doesn't really matter which camera you have, " Todd replied. "It's all up here, " he said, tapping his temple. She bought the Yashica instead.
Yeah there was a lot of old photo equipment there. But, the "customer service" guy looked at me like I was an alien when I asked some questions about digital cameras. If you're interested in film processing that is where I would choose. It just wasn't for me.
Don's is the real deal! If you are looking for film, cameras or accessories this is the best spot in town to fulfill all those needs. Mom & Pop vibes inside as the store (run by a father and son) -an experience that is long forgotten in this day and age.
Came here on a whim just to check it out because I needed some HP5 the next day and had forgotten to order it. Don had exactly what I needed and cheaper than I’ve been paying for it on Amazon. GREAT film selection!
Those guys really know there stuff! Father and son family shop, good selection, turned me on to some more local sources for development and events.
Not sure I really get the point?
Was told by the owner that they had no film equipment and to come back in 4 months for their swap meet.
Seemed like plenty of junk lying around that might be useful to someone I guess (boxes of wingnuts and washers, giant timers), but nothing actually worth buying. Skip it, especially given how annoying the drive here is now that there's construction everywhere.
I love this place. Run by a very nice man and his father, the place is a bit of a mess, but is filled with mostly film-era treasures that you can't find in other camera stores anymore. Be prepared to be patient, pick around and be open to discoveries. If you find something that you want, you'll get a great deal too.
Very interesting shop. My daughter and I drove up from Central Tx to visit this shop. She is new to photography and the shop owner I believe his name is Don. He was filled with valuable information and didn't hesitate sharing it with her. They have alot of older equipment which was neat to see. It's really a photography's treasure chest. The only downfall that I noticed was some of the merchandise and used equipment was very dated and were being sold at new, updated regular prices. I wanted to buy more from this store but I just couldn't bring myself to pay regular price for outdated merchandise. Honestly I don't know if this stuff holds its value for long. In my opinion there should have been a clearance section but I'm not a photographer. Some of the stuff was dusty from sitting there so long. It is a really neat store though & I would definitely go back.
Great guy definitely knows his cameras. Great place to get any vintage camera equipment. Little bit pricey but for instant gratification not bad.
Visiting the US from Australia i phoned Dons from Charlotte NC in the hope he may have a particular lens i was looking for. I called back the next day to be pleasantly surprised he had 2 to choose from and when i got to Dallas, i visited the store and purchased one of them for a very reasonable price. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and i would recommend them to anyone.
You never know what you will find here. Todd and Don are knowledgeable and engaging. Check out this staple of the Dallas Photography community
Walked in one day trying to find a Nikon F3 hp. Had previously owned one and had been looking for quite a while. Ebay didn't have one used for the price i was looking for in decent shape. I was pleasantly surprised to find they had just aquired one recently and had momentarily forgotten that they had it.
Not only did Don quote me a decent price for it (camera was in excellent shape) but held it for me after putting $25.00 down till my next payday 2 weeks off.
What great customer service and very knowledgable people. Had a very pleasant experience there.
Thank you guys for helping me go back to a better time in my life.
The owner was really nice, and eager to help us. Also encouraged and informed us about an upcoming camera show.
Owner was super nice and gave recommendations for my equipment & other locations too for developing. I really appreciate when people don't let you buy something just to sell it. He was awesome about making a suggestion for a flash that was cheaper than the one I wanted to get. It works great too! Definitely recommend.
Helpful and knowledgeable, if not the freindliest, staff. Pretty decent prices on most stuff, but a limited selection. Does not do repair services, just sales.
I found the owner of Don's Photo Equipment to be quite rude, and would not recommend doing business here. Way too many places to purchase camera supplies than to have to deal with this type of customer service, regardless of the reason for the visit.
