Bring your own firewood (there is a guy, Johnny, selling at the intersection of 150 and 2025). While wood is available, park management brings it to you so you can’t pick it out yourself and the wood is too green to burn. The lake trail loop is nice. Campsites back against it at varying distances. At times it feels like you are walking through someone’s site. The staff are super friendly! Site #39 is fine for an RV but there is zero space for a tent. Site #40 is a little secluded but also near the RR. There is an unmarked trail /shortcut through the middle of the campground so you don’t necessarily have to walk the road to get to the RR from your campsite.

Updated January 2022: Group site D is The best of the bunch! It may be the most secluded site at the campground. It is separate from other sites and has its own little driveway so hosts are the only people stopping by. It can easily park three cars and handle four or five tents.

Be advised that they close the restrooms in the group and lodge area during the week when there is a little attendance.

Camp sites well spaced. Paved path around the lake. Could use some maintenance on that path. Great place. Connected to hiking and biking trails.

Quiet, clean park close to Houston. The campsites are very spaced out, surrounded by tall trees and brush. I visited in the winter but am excited to visit in summer. It should be really nice with all the shade available, and the designated swimming area.

The sites are good, but the bathrooms, trails and boardwalks are falling apart.
The lack a maintenance is taking a toll on a place that looked to be a great campground at one time.

Didn’t camp, but the campground itself was very nice. Many sites, picturesque wilderness, probably good fishing too. Glad I came to explore this place. Didn’t see very many people, but in turn it was very quiet. I’ll be back to camp, and I’ll bring my fishing poles, too

Been several times already. Weekends are super busy and crowded, so we go during the week for peace and quiet! We ride bikes on the trails every day, & little Mia gets plenty of quiet walks!

Camp site hade a table, a view of the lake and an outlet. Bathrooms were close by and they sell firewood in the area. It was a peaceful weekend stay.

Camp hosts are the best. Best campground in the area. It's always booked up which is our only disappointment

Cindy is a great camp host. Settled in. No burn ban here like the west side of sam Houston national park at Stubblefield recreational area. No bees here either. Weather is perfect. Cell service is spotty. We have Att, tmobile and sprint, they all got like 2 bars. But still work! Restrooms are open and clean. Womens showers are like warm, mens are cold at tent area. They do hand out tickets for unleached pooches. Keep my dog on a runner leash at camp. No passes are accepted here but senior passes. I'm tent camping, starts at $20 and up. Gets full here quick. Reserve online best at recreationalparks.gov to be sure you got a spot. They sell bundles of wood at $5 and bags of ice at $3. Only drink alcoholic beverages at your camp only. AS OF NOVEMBER 22ND burn banned in effect! Saw as many as 30 different people here fishing over the week, nobody caught nothing but all the trees in the lake. MANY TREES IN LAKE, NO FISH. Think there is a beaver here due to all the chewed trees. Maybe he ate all the fish, lol. Water in lake is down 3ft. This is a loud family campground. Lotts of kids running and playing around having fun. If your looking for quiet getaway, this isnt it!

We arrived at 7pm and entry was empty. We took right side for camping. You will see reserved and open areas and you can go anywhere is open. After we set up our tent, campground officer came and gave us receipt for campground. It is $20 per night.
It is extremely humid and it is little wind. It was our first time and we forgot to bring fan with us. Ground is very hard and has small gravels, so do not forget your portable bed. It has great place for water and campfire place is very neat too. Campground is little sandy, so your tent can get sandy very easily. It has restrooms which are clean and shower inside of the restroom. Overall it was great! We enjoyed.
