Dr. Matthew D. Barrows, MD reviews
3I have been a patient for years but now this is a total chop shop. Do not go here. I have a third of my ear gone and NO one explained this to me. Even when I asked direct questions to Dr. Barrows. STAY AWAY.
My husband was supposed to get Mohs on the crown of his head, but Dr. Barrows decided on a second biopsy instead. If he didn't like the first pathology report, why wait for 2 months on the day of surgery to get a second one? Why not call and get another one done right away?
He did, instead, perform Mohs on a site he had done Mohs 6 weeks prior without first performing another biopsy. He just didn't like the way it looked.
Staff is great as is C. Bailey, PAC
Be warned… Clearly patient well-being and care is not Dr Barrows’ priority. On the positive side, the staff was super friendly and helpful - answered my questions and discussed options for Mohs surgery - capably and cheerfully. The Doctor, however, made it clear from the start through the finish that he is a busy man - and only interested in getting through the procedure and on to the next. I understand a doctor’s time is valuable, but my case presented some unusual issues and thus concerns for me. Clearly my short term and long term well-being were not important to the Dr. Also, as with a similar reviewer, they did not have the plastic surgeon close my incision. That was one of the reasons I chose Dr Barrow’s office in the first place.
Overall a frustrating and disappointing experience. Not to mention expensive. I am now headed back to my regular dermatologist to address the issues/concerns I have - since Dr Barrows was unwilling to take the time to address. This Dr has converted his medical practice to a surgery/procedure assembly line - to maximize revenue - irrespective of the impact on patients. If you have skin cancer and need treatment, go elsewhere. They can and should do better.
