Dr. Heffernan saved my life! During the scariest time of my life he and everyone at NTGO were incredibly supportive. He was clear on my diagnosis and helped me to understand my treatment plan. He knew my fears before I knew them and walked me through each step along with what to expect. His chemo nurses were so amazing! They were gentle, caring, and helpful. He was sure to continue his care through the following years until he was able to release me. It was a bittersweet day but I knew I was cancer free and it was a joyful farewell. My husband, entire family, and I are so grateful for him and his staff daily for the love and care. Thank you Dr. H!

Dr. Heffernan and his staff are wonderful! I was diagnosed with stage 2 ovarian cancer, and from the very first time I met him he was kind and understanding and answered all my questions in an easy to understand way. My surgery went so smoothly, and I had the best possible experience you can have when going through chemo. The chemo is administered in his office with his chemo nurses. They know each one of the patients individually and take great care of the patients. One of the chemo nurses has been in every follow up appointment I have had with Dr. Heffernan. I

Dr. Heffernan is an awesome doctor with a great bedside manner which is hard to find. He was very knowledgeable and really cares about woman’s health! I highly recommend.

From my experience, Dr. Heffernan is the best at what he does. I had a complete hysterectomy at age 79 and experienced no pain no problems. I highly recommend this Doctor.

Dr Heffernan and team where absolutely amazing! I was diagnosed with stage 4 severe endometriosis and had 2 large endometriosis on my ovaries. This was discovered as we have been struggling to get pregnant. Dr Heffernan was so kind and explained everything so clearly and answered all my questions. Surgery went amazing and he was able to remove all the Endo tissue in my abdomen and put everything back where it should be. He was also successful in removing my cysts as well. Now we are back on track and in good shape to have a baby! I highly recommend Dr Heffernan!

I recently had a radical hysterectomy by Dr. Heffernan. 1- He was the first doctor to correctly diagnose my continuous pain from Adenomyosis after consulting with over 10 GYN's re my pain for years. 2- He is unbelievably skilled at explaining the issue in a very simple way. 3- Medically and surgically he is one of the best doctors I've encountered. I worked for a hospital and I know how to judge a physician. 4- His surgical mastery of the De Vinci Robot puts him in a class of his own. Actually, he is one of few doctors in the nation authorized by the manufacturer of the robot to train other GYN's on using the robot in female surgeries. 5- Last but not least, his polite, caring, sweet, confident demeanor is what made me decide on the surgery during my first consult with him. Dr. Heffernan first came to my rescue while I was hospitalized in 2011. His bedside manner is second to none. While you are a number to most doctors, that is not true of Dr. Heffernan. I am now about to go into surgery with him again to remove an ovarian cyst and the process could not have been smoother. Everyone in the office is also very kind and genuine.
**Updated Review** I had a very difficult time with recovery of a full hysterectomy and called twice about an issue. On my post op visit last week I overheard him calling me “the whiny one” to his nurse. So forget all I said about true empathy, it’s fake. But if you don’t care about that, he is still a skilled doctor and office staff is great.

I can’t say enough positives about Dr. Heffernan. I was referred following diagnosis of several very large fibroid tumors which were causing a variety of health complications. Dr. Heffernan expertly explained my options for fibroid removal and the challenges of my specific case (due to the number, size, and location of the tumors, a laparoscopic procedure would not be possible for me). I went into my open myomectomy surgery being prepared for possible complications (all explained in detail) but ended up having an uncomplicated procedure due to Dr. Heffernan’s exceptional surgical skill. Two weeks out from surgery my recovery process has been easier than anticipated, and I am very happy with the results. From the initial consultation through my post-op, I have found Dr. Heffernan’s bedside manner to be kind and accessible. In addition, the staff in his office have been very helpful in assisting me navigate some insurance challenges, being available to answer questions following surgery, and with completing all of my required work leave paperwork in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend Dr. Heffernan to anyone needing complex gynecological surgery.

Dr. Heffernan and his team are awesome! I had my first ever surgery 10/15. I'm doing very well. He removed a large fibroid from my uterus with the daVinci robot. Only pain I had from the surgery was the gas. The gas gets trapped in your shoulders. It is the worst! But he and his scheduler were so nice, kind, and patient with all me and my family's questions. I had to get them gifts! Thanks!

Dr Heffernan's expertise, caring, skills, follow-ups, etc (I cannot brag enough!) cannot be beat! When anyone asks about my surgery, I just focus on how amazing Dr Heffernan is. I can't express how truly thankful I am for Dr Heffernan!

Wonderful experience. Dr. Heffernan took the time to sit down and speak with me and my husband, explain in detail what was going on, and addressed all concerns we had. I usually have a hard time finding doctors I fully trust, but I have 100% faith and trust in Dr. Heffernan. He knows what he's talking about, and you can tell he truly cares about his patients.

I had my surgery November 2016. From the beginning to the end Dr. Heffernan and his staff were very helpful and professional. I could not have selected a better doctor for my surgery.

Dr Heffernan is a kind and skilled doctor. He did my first surgery midway through my pregnancy, and it was reassuring to me how seriously he took it, as one wrong move could have jeopardized the life of my daughter. (His own daughter was born prematurely so it felt very personal to him.) My pregnancy continued fine and my baby is now a happy and healthy 6 year old. My second surgery was laparoscopic and he was able to remove my cyst and save my ovary. If you need a gyn oncologist, you would be in good hands with Dr Heffernan.
