East Texas Arboretum, Athens TX

My recent trip to the east Texas arboretum exceeded my expectations. This park is beautiful large and well kept. They are very friendly and welcoming the trails we great. My tip is to wear good shoes and carry water if you plan to walk the forest trails

Been coming here since I was a little girl. This place brings back so many fun memories of summers with my grandparents. Many things haven't changed (in a good way) and the new additions over the years have kept visits feeling fresh and fun. Beautiful and peaceful scenery. This arboretum is a must visit every time I'm in Athens.

It is such a great place to go walk and enjoy the outdoors. A family atmosphere made me feel safe. And you can take your pet on a leash.

Had a very beautiful hike at the east Texas arboretum! So many amazing animals, plant life and scenery

Beautiful place and the membership is very reasonable. You can take a few different walks through different parts of the arboretum. Your membership here also opens a number of other arboretums throughout the country.

Such a great experience! Unexpectedly more trails and things to see. Loved seeing the working bee hive, very friendly staff.

I love going here to soak in nature and sometimes photograph the beauty. It's always changing and they keep it very well maintained. I love the suspension bridge, the trails, the variations of plants and flowers and that they have some historic buildings as well as a war memorial; a little bit of something for everyone:)

My wife had wanted to visit the East Texas Aboretum in Athens for quite some time. On Saturday, we decided to make the trip to Athens to see what they had. She wanted to see a swinging bridge that was shown in a brochure, but you had to hike through the woods to get to it. Though it was a beautiful day, we decided that neither of us was ready for the long hike there and back. The weather was perfect for walking around the Arboretum and viewing the plants and buildings on the site.

We needed prom pictures and they were so gracious to stay open an extra hour on a Saturday just for our girls and guys! We appreciate you guys more than you know! Thank you!

This place is quietly tucked away in Athens, Tx and it’s a destination worthy. The gentleman working at the front office was very personable and took the time to give my friend and I a quick rundown of the property.
The trails were stunningly beautiful and the “bog”, which sounds entirely gross and unappealing, was gorgeous.
There is something to be said of the smaller arboretum, as opposed to the widely known Dallas location.
If you’re looking for a peaceful walk or an escape from the large city, go here.

Great walking trails with the occasional bridge and big. Cool activity areas for kids. Pretty flowers, although there weren’t a ton in mid-March when we went.

Would recommend if you’re visiting from out of town!

Wonderful, family-friendly place. Beautiful trails, well kept gardens and adorable indoor and outdoor features for kids. Love this place.

Although this place is very beautiful, it's not handycap/wheel chair friendly & I don't think you're dog's are aloud

The people are Great the hikes were very pretty and EASY ENJOYED all the additional things like Wofford house jail cell school house sculptures so much

This Arboretum is a gem. For the price of admission and natural beauty, a wonderful place to take your family for a walk.
