El Chaparral Mexican Restaurant - Helotes reviews
16The food here was delicious. The service was outstanding. The wait was worth it. We had drinks while we waited. The server recommended something out of my comfort zone, but she was right. It was delicious.
The Garcia family's legacy lives on in Jessica's honor. I loved her and still love this restaurant and experience.
Rice was soggy, beans greasy, and enchiladas looked like they were boiled. Best thing on this visit was the chips and salsa. Sorry but NEVER going here again. Please do better for the people of Helotes, Texas.
Best real Mexican in San Antonio. Great for the kids, better for the adults. Best food, good bar and tonight we had music. Great experience and highly recommended.
First I have to say my waiter was so patient with me. I was having a hard time deciding what to order. They have a selection of food only they specialize. It all sounded very good. When I finally decided, all I had to do is look at him, and he already knew I was ready. After I ordered he even asked me if I wanted to stay with the menu, just in case I changed my mind. Never once did I have to ask for anything, he always asked me. So the service was outstanding. And what I ordered was prepared perfectly and it WAS all that. Recommended highly!
Service was impeccable. Food was great. Always consistent quality of adult beverages. Tk you!
This is literally the best Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant I’ve eaten at in my entire life, and I have been eating this food all over Texas my whole life.
Food was just incredibly tasty. Perfect enchiladas, fajitas, salsa. Everything fresh. Amazing service and waitresses were amazing. Great atmosphere and drinks. Never stop doing what y’all are doing, El Chaparral for the win.
It's definitely a great restaurant to visit. The atmosphere was great, music players going aro7nd with the ri instruments to play your favorite song, food was good, and dr8nks were great. It has plenty of parking space, and it's big enough to accommodate a lot of people inside. Our server was great and attentive. As soon as we sat down, we had our chips and salsa, and she kept checking on us every once in a while making sure we had what we needed. She did an excellent job.
I have been eating at El Chaparral for over 28 years. They have always set a high bar in food and service. But tonight our waitress, though nice, did not give us silverware and I had to remind her after she delivered our plates. Also she fails to give us the starter small bowl of beans that El Chaparral is known for, my father in-law had to ask for his, and she brought his, but no one else's. Then, his plate came incomplete, missing a hard shell taco. She did not notice and he had to ask for his taco. Some time passed and I had to ask again for his taco. And lastly, she never checked on us or provided refills for our drinks. According to our receipt, her name was Ruby. I still left her an 18% tip on a $150 bill, but I normally leave about 22%. My daughter worked part-time as a waitress for 3 years and even she thought I left too much.
Been coming here since 1976 when I moved from OKC after high-school to Leon Valley. My first taste of real tex-mex after eating at Ponchos up north! Since then I judge all tex-mex restaurants to theirs. The Carne enchilada sauce is incredible! Took my 90 yr old Dad to get his favorite Chalupa Compuesta and I had the Helotes Special! Karen had her fav, puffys with guac no cheese. Seems like I've been trying the Sangria on the rocks with tequila and triple sec blended lately. We tried theirs and weren't dissatisfied! Salude Charlie, thanks for all the great food and drinks over the decades amigo! Looking forward to coming back to sit outside on the back patio and hang out!
Came back for late lunch and had a great spot on the back porch! Valerie's Special was awesome. Beef Fajitas were nicely cooked. Had the Sangria Margaritas again.
Been back twice for the Texas enchiladas y'all in the past month. Switching to Jessica's top shelf Rita with no salt for my bebidas. Yummy all good in the hood amigos
The bartender hates doing the takeout and has a bad attitude about it. He always hands the food over with the boxes on their side instead of flat like they should be. They need to fix this problem.
Erica Snap was an exceptional server tonight. She brought her smile and courteous timely service to our delicious meal. Made the dinner even more special.
Our family has been having wonderful dining here for years. We remember when it was just a small little treasure nestled in the foothills of Helotes. Our family also enjoyed another restaurant in San Antonio on Fredericksburg called Mario's. It's been rumored that after Mario's closed the family that owned it bought El Chapperal. It's been a delightfully delicious relationship.
My family and I will not be returning to the Helotes location after visiting 8/24. Service from Olga and her manager was 110% the worst we have been treated in front of our young daughter. We have been there many times and this will definitely be the last.
We have been coming here for over 20 years and it always hits the spot. The food is always amazing and the atmosphere is great. The fajitas and enchiladas are great. The beans and rice have the same flavors today as they do years ago. Great chips and salsa with soup beans hit the spot. Friendly professional staff and a clean restaurant. Thank you everyone and we’ll see you guys soon.
Our first time back in 8 months and it’s still amazing. Thank you and can’t wait to come back to town for some more.
Ordered Borracho beans didn't know they had a quota on how many you could get more brother very few beans. Also no lettuce or tomatoes on enchiladas. Notike it use to be.
